Spurs need this one. Magic are hot.
Can Duncan and co. pull out the win?
Discuss.
My crystal ball is showing another solid game from Tim and great efforts from the bench. Oh, and of course, we get the win.

Howard is running up and down the court like a wild animal right now (5th in the league in FG%). Duncan needs to tame him tonight and keep his ass domestic and punish him inside. The boarding will also be a key part of the game.
TP needs to keep attacking and defend nelson well. Barry/FIN and co. off the bench need to step up especially if manu isn't playing. They need to knock down open shots and play solid defensively.
The magic are in the top 10 in 3 pt shooting. Hedo can be dangerous. He's going to want to have a good showing against his former team. Looks like Bowen will be on him so there really isn't a problem there.
Magic come out hot but cool off
Spurs 97
Magic 90

I just hope Dwight has a halfway decent game against your boys for once. Duncan really gives him problems, mainly because Dwight's offensive game is still raw and unlike most players, he can't blow by Timmy D with his quickness and athleticism.

I have to say that dwight howard is quickly becoming one of my favorite non-spurs. without francis now, i could really like the magic if not for darko. i haven't been able to stand darko since the pistons played the rockets and he elbowed mutombo in the neck and then stood there with his greasy hair combed straight back and a hideous sneer on his face. and i don't even like mutombo. but that sneer...and that hair...

Question for the more knowledgeable Spurs followers - has Pop changed his PG rotation up the past few games? I'm just curious as to why TP was pulled halfway through the first when he normally plays nearly the entire quarter.

This was not Detroit Darko. The Darko we saw didn't give a damn. He got real minutes at the beginning of the year, but it wasn't enough. He wasn't content with 7-8 minutes of real time, and it showed on the court. That's why his minutes evaporated after 2-3 weeks. OK different argument for a different thread, but If I was Darko in year 3, I too would not be content w 7-8 minutes.
I completely understand why he wasn't happy....and yes it showed, but I do nit blame him for it.
Just as fans and an orginization have expectations for a #2 overall pick, a #2 overall pick also has certain expectations to play.

New coach = clean slate. Same story.
I agree that LB should have played him more (the HVC thing was made up by the media. there are plenty of other players in the same situation), but when you get a new coach and the same thing happens you get the feeling that it's not the coaches at fault here.

7-8 minutes was 7-8 minutes more than there was in the previous years. Flip said from day one that he'll give him those minutes, and then his play will determine if he got more or less minutes. Well, after 4-5 horrid (And I mean horrid) performances in a row where he just didn't look into it, those minutes disappeared.
Darko gave up on Detroit. If he gave 100% from day 1 he would be playing a big role on this team. If you think he in anyway "Earned" minutes here you're crazy. Any minutes he got were handed to him.

That's a hell of a night.......let alone a first half performance.
Tim is the most complete big man in the game. He can do it all offensively and defensively. Pretty much the only thing he can't do is shoot FT's consistently. His performance tonight is what everyone expected, only amplified a bit.

There's no way that Orlando can keep this up. I expect the Spurs to tighten up the D in the second half and run away with it.
In the past two weeks, Orlando has beaten Dallas, Detroit, and Miami. They are very capable of "keeping it up."

Orlando isn't the same team you saw in December. Trading Steve Francis was the best thing that ever happened to this franchise.

None of those teams can play our type of D. Detroit is close, but the Spurs are the best defensive team in the league, so ya, I think it's safe to say that the Spurs will turn up the D and slow down Orlando in the second half.

They're still gonna finish this game with an L, just like the team we saw in December.

The box score said that Francis did not play that night so there should be no chemistry problem for our team tonight.

Very debatable.
I may argue that SA is the more consistent D. You know what to expect from them night in-night out.
Whereas I think Detroits D is actually better....they just tend to display it in spurts when needed. In years past, we were more consistent......because our offensive was a little ragged, and we had to constantly bring that pressure to secure victories.
Now our offense actually carries the day more often than not.
IMO when Detroit shows their Defensive muscle, ther is no one in the L that comes close.
