Please post ideas in this thread as to where to have the first playoff road game GTG.

It has to be a place that has big screens, food and drinks, and will reserve space for 30 people (more or less).

In the end, I know y'all end up at our house .. but this is my attempt to try to find an alternate place.

Thanks.

What about the pizza place you all went to last year? I thought they were good people and gave good service.

Does anyone know anything about Firkin's? It just opened up at 1604/Blanco, but I haven't been inside and I don't know if they have big screens or not.

Goomba's will have extra seating as he bought the next door location, knocked down the wall. He is scheduled to have a big screen there.

Plus we are doing Spurs Warmup live from Goomba's with the Thompson Brothers.

Can't F$#@ with tradition can you?

We would just do it at our house if it's not at a restaurant/bar, but thanks for the offer.

I'd consider it, but last year I had a big problem with the fact that we would reserve seats for SPURSTALK people and then they'd get taken over by WOAI radio people (with an attitude) and I couldn't do anything about it.

Last year, I got there in the 2nd half and tried to sit at an empty table and the WOAI people told me they were holding it for someone that would probably be there later. No one ever came and I stood the rest of the game.

I heard they wouldn't allow Johnny Blaze to tap into the Dr. Pepper because it was "reserved." They had a big post-it note and everything.

My friend owns Hotshot billiards next to the Alamo Draft House theatre, they have enough tables around 3 big screens to easily fit 30 people... I would just have to notify him in advance so he can reserve them.

I cant promise anything beyond the resrved spots and a pool table or 2 (for free) but I *might* be able to work out some kind of drink specials as well.

Do they serve food too? Can you ask him the maximum amount of people we could have?

If he can work out some good drink specials, I could probably work out some free advertising.

They dont have much food, they serve like chicken tenders, boneless buffalo wings, popcorn, nachos...... all microwave stuff.

As far as how many people and the drink specials, I'll get back to you by tonight.

Kori, you should give Rick a call beforehand and see if he can cut you a group deal and guarentee you a certain VIP SPURS fan area.

Okay, we are set for HotShot Billiards for Game 3.

Details will be announced as soon as the game schedule is set, but beer specials look like 64oz pitchers for $5.00, plus a couple specials on other drinks.

They have plenty of room for us, four big screens, and five other TV's.

More details forthcoming. Thanks, phyzik.

Kori - I was @ Champs Sports bar today & I spoke with the manager. He said that they usually don't do reservations during the playoffs but he's interested & would like to speak with you about it.
hope you don;t mind that I was asking him about this.
He's going to send me an email which i will forward to you.

this could possibly work out. :tu

Champs Sports Bar downtown or Chammps Americana at Huebner Oaks?

We had GTG's in 2002 at the one downtown, they accomodated up to 20 people or so.

And we've had a get together at Chammps (Huebner) before (with over 60 people) but after that, they said they wouldn't take reservations from big groups anymore because and I quote the manager, "We'd rather funnel groups in and out of here ordering food every hour than have a group of sixty sit here for four hours and take up space". :lmao

This was in 2003 (or 04) playoffs I think. We'll see what they say now.

For Game 3, we have HotShot Billiards set up but I'd be more than happy to talk to them about future stuff.

Thanks for talking to them and yes, forward me the email when you get it.

Since I have been there at least 10 times, a good question to ask is where are people going to sit?

How is the spurstalk folk going to fit in with the regulars? I remember the limited chair availability at Goombas, wait til you see this place.

They are taking out some of the pool tables. They are reserving over 40 seats for us.

Don't worry, I'll go check out the place before it is totally confirmed.
