1. Too many people touch the ball (i.e. you would be caught).
2. The standard pitchers' tricks don't work on a basketball.

She's certainly not the type to think that a) a weird bounce in basketball = grounds to suspect cheating, b) doing something to make the ball bounce weird is advantageous in a basketball game, and c) any shooter would be capable in the split seconds between catching and shooting to doctor the ball to make it bounce weird.

If you've got some proof to the contrary, I'd like to see it.

I post here because...

The Spurs are my second favorite team, and they are about a 1,000% better team and organization than the Pacers. Actually, the Spurs are my favorite team, but I don't like to admit it. I have stuck with that other ABA team too long, as in I still have a red,white, and blue Pacers ball from happier days. (Strangely enough, we also tend to get more Pacers broadcasts here in Indiana, go figure.)

The Spurs are more interesting, due to the composition of the team. Basically, the Spurs have two teams: All-World All-Stars and Pesky NBA Veterans. The Pacers have a team built around two starters who no longer play there. Sad, really...

Basically, this board is better than any of the Pacers boards, and I check in here a lot at the beginning and end of the season. (In other words, I focus on the Spurs after Indiana exits...) Plus, you have the entire CHEST movement, which beaks up the monotony a bit. YAYYYY!!!!!

Bowen is my favorite player in the NBA, now that Reggie is gone. For the record, anyone who accuses Bowen of playing dirty or Manu of flopping must have never seen Miller play. Reggie was never "dirty," but he had quite a bag of tricks. My favorite move was the old "step on the guy's feet who is guarding you when you take a jump shot" move. I have never seen Bowen do anything like this.

My point is this: I don't talk basketball on the internet for a bunch of homer @#$%. I can listen to local talk radio for that garbage. To me the interaction with fans of the Pistons and Garnett is what makes this board so damn funny at times.

I'd just think the guy was a damned good shot and very lucky. I say all the time when I see other players from other teams make fantastic shots against us..."Gee that was pretty!" and "Dang, he's good!" and "Man, that was nice!". Yep, that's probably #2 on my list. It took me a long time to notice the "step on the guard's feet" trick, because local broadcasts obviously didn't show it! I think it was the year that Indiana lost to New York in the ECF that I first noticed this. The network coverage (NBC back then, I think) showed it quite clearly, although no one ever mentioned it.

Since I (accidentally) started this, I'll weigh in. In the context of the original thread on Kings Fan, I thought that it was fairly obvious that the moderator was at least suggesting that Brent cheated. It reminded me of how people will tease someone, but "they were only kidding" when they're called on it. (In other words, it was a way to make a point without actually commiting to it.)

At any rate, it is amazing how delusional a group of people may appear when there is adverse selection happening (i.e. survival of the conformist). There is absolutely no way on God's green earth that the Kings can win it all. I'm not saying that the Spurs are a lock, but the Kings don't crack the top 10 of the 16 playoff teams. They played their asses off Tuesday, but lost to a Spurs team that coasted for most of the game.

For another kings board, you might check out "sactownroyalty.com" I just happened to run by it while web surfing... there is a thread there entitled "game 1" that is absolutly hilarious. The thread is posted entirely during game 1, and the fun is in seeing how high their hopes are in the begining, and then the spiral downhill from there.

There are a couple of other interesting threads to read there too... they hate the spurs of course, but they are also pretty critical of the Kings. I didn't see any spurs or other team posts while I was there so I can't vouch for how opposing-viewpoint friendly they are.

I post at Kingstalk.com and have been welcome there but ribbed pretty good. They seem to know their basketball and are actually more critical of the Kings than the Spurs. For the most part they are a decent bunch but have a few of the "I hate the Spurs nomatter what" crowd.

Yeah, like I was discounting team chemistry, obviously it is very important but when you have players like Kidd, KG, Shaq, and the other elite players on the court with them that isn't a problem because they are all team players. What you don't realize is regardless of how talented that "B-team" was that Argentina beat, or more importantly regardless of how much less talented that team was than the true elite players that should have been on that team, their biggest flaw wasn't their talent level it was their team play. Players like Shaq, Kidd, KG, and Malone would have absolutely made Manu and company look like the Pee-Wee league.

I hang out on my team's forum but it's not quite so active during the off-season so I like to forum shop and see what's out there. Plus, I'm from Austin so I've grown up with so many Spurs fans in my family and neighborhood...I feel right at home! I'd be into creating a forum for Kings fans (web designer) but I'm not a Kings fan so the motivation is not there right now.
