AMEN! this is all that's needed to be said from this thread.

Except Stein is apparently wrong. That's not anywhere in the rules.

thank you kori. your the only one that makes sense to me right now. if its not in the damn rules then how the hell can he get suspended?

Kori Ellis

Oh well it's over and done with. He won't be there tomorrow, the Spurs will need to get off to a good start and remained focused as the Kings will be a little pissed and have that extra drive.

But this series will still be over quick.

Sorry, RON ARTEST.

Give it a rest dude, the NBA can do whatever it wants, i'm sure they fact checked before suspending a guy without pay or not.

Oh they definitely CAN suspended him -- that's in there as an option. But it wasn't an automatic suspension from what I see in the rules.

Do you know if this memo about forearms to the head actually exists? Supposedly people have been saying it was given out before the playoffs.

give it a rest? if this was someone on your team it would be fucking world war three on this forum. and they probably didnt check shit. this was a reputation suspension simple as that. CASE CLOSED!

I heard there was a memo saying they weren't going to put up with much but I don't think that it said anything specific about "forearms to the head".

In the rules, it says "elbow above the shoulders" should be automatic ejection. It says that they can be given Flagrant 1 or 2. Flagrant 1 or 2 can warrant fine and/or suspension. So if they deemed it a flagrant after reviewing the tape, they definitely have a right to suspend him.

The dude has done more than enough to earn his short leash. Oh and they have the right to suspend someone for a forearm to the head.

I'm sorry Ron. I guess you misunderstood me.

Actually, I think he shouldn't even be in the league.
There, that's better.

I don't know why some people are so upset when others speak of Manu flopping. Again (I think I said it twice in this thread) flopping doesn't mean that Manu wasn't hit. It means he exaggerates contact when he's hit. That doesn't mean that he's a bad player. It doesn't mean that he doesn't get hit a lot. It doesn't mean that Artest didn't intend to hit him. It just means that he exaggerates contact when he gets hit.

Good

Now tell that to LJ ;)

Yep they realize that you just can't nail someone in the head

But Charles said that Artest could have done it, but just not out in the open :)

Well you can. But there's consequences. :)

Ernie on suspension: "Was it warranted?"

Kenny : "Oh, it's automatic, that's the new rule "

Charles: "Ernie, you can't go around hittin' people in the head"

He didn't say that's the new rule. Did he? I think he said, that's the rule (which he's probably just repeating what Stein printed).

It's supposed to be an automatic ejection. And since they missed it, then if its reviewed it's up to them to decide the consequence (fine/suspension/whatever).

Ron Artest hits Tim Duncan with a forearm, and a couple of minutes later hits Manu Ginobili in the face with an elbow. Later in the quarter he body slams Tony Parker to the floor after the whistle. The league office looks at the third quarter as a whole and it's an easy, easy decision to make.

Ron Artest is, at the very least, a complete dumbass in this situation. I'd like to see someone try to make the argument that he doesn't at least deserve the possibility of a suspension according to the rules, no matter who he is. Considering who he is, a suspension is certainly not unexpected and is in no way unjustified. Only a complete mongoloid does what he does in his FIRST FUCKING PLAYOFF GAME after his year-long suspension for causing one of, if not the most ugly incidents in the history of American sports.

Does that changing something?

"There was no flagrant foul," league vice president Stu Jackson explained from his office in Manhattan. "This is a 'contact' rule. The action we're taking is because of the fact Ron made contact with Manu Ginobili's head. While the contact was not severe, it was a potentially dangerous play. And the fact he is a recidivist was taken into account."

Suspension well deserved. :tu

Now he should be kicked out for good.
I'm sure this will happen eventually. :fro

I don't know why some people are so upset when others speak of Manu flopping.

Don't mean to bring the subject back up but,I don't think ppl are upset for that. I think some ppl got ticked off at these comments:

Manu is a notorious flopper and just pulled the greatest flop in NBA history. It has to be the first time a flop ended with the suspension of another player.

now if he was jokin then its all good :D
