Thank God someone took him... Damn LenDale is a thuggish mofo.

Dio, I wouldn't mind Watson @ #49... that would be a good pick. Charles Spencer (G) is another good possibility. Ko Simpson (FS) is also still on the board, but he is dumber than a bag of Vince Young.

If the Boys' D has the middle plugged that will impact the pass rush in an awesome way. Thus, the DBs will have to hold coverage a shorter amount of time.

Jason Hatcher

Scouting Report

Pros: Huge, powerful, senior lineman has flashed some big play making ability over his career, culminating with a huge final season. He has lined up at both end and tackle in the standard 4-3 pro set and projects to a few positions along a front line and in both schemes. He is a high-cut athlete with a huge wingspan and good footwork that will allow him to compete for playing time early in his NFL career. Cons: He is a massive defender that tends to play too tall at times and does not use his hands as well as he could to shed blocks. He needs better overall technique in all areas to utilize his fine strength better and mobility. He does not use his excellent lower body strength to get the push in the middle and can play high at times, which negates his power and allow blockers to easily get their hands on him and steer him off the play.
Numbers: As a senior, he started 12 games and registered 71 tackles with 21.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and 16 QB hurries. At the Combine, he did 28 reps in the 225-pound bench press and ran a 4.92 40-yard dash with a 35.5-inch vertical jump and a 9-5.
Skinny: He is a major sleeper prospect at this position, after coming on over his late career and showing dominant talent. He has the natural size and tools to be potentially a more effective pro than he was a collegian with further development.

04-29-2006, 08:41 PM

If Leinart falls to the Cardinals, they HAVE to pick him. All they have is an old Warner.

They just got James in FA and they could have Leinart. Cardinals fan could be very happy.

Fraudien slip? :lol

And yes, I am happy! I'm freakin' exstatic!!! HOLLYWOOD!!!!

He loses money, but with that talent around him and near his So-Cal home, this was a top-5 scenerio for Leinart.

That was the perfect situation for Leinart. Cardinals will make some noise this year.

I like the pick up of a USC O-lineman in the 2nd-round as well. Slick move.

Leonard Pope in the third. Boom or bust, but with those receivers, that runningback and Warner and Leinart (in wings), you'd have to figure boom...

I've waited a long time for this. My father once purchased season tickets for the Cardinals and after going to every game, proclaimed it the worst expense he'd ever made.

I'm hoping they've come a long way.

Hollywood should thrive in their system, so long as there's a line that gives him around 4/6 seconds.

I have no idea about Pope except that according to some, he'll be the steal (no matter where he was drafted) or be out of the League in a few years.

Boom or bust.

With that talent around him, you'd figure boom, but there's a reason a TE of his physical skill and ability slipped into the third.

You don't know anything about Leonard Pope????? He could easily be the 2nd best TE behind Vernon Davis.

He is hugeeeeeeee and can catch very well. He is alright at blocking, more of a catching TE.

Pope is like 6'7 or 6'8 260 lbs

nfl draft rivals says this about him.....

Rivals.com: Has potential to be one of the bigger steals of the draft. He has all the tools to excel in the NFL - size, speed, athleticism and big-play ability. He is a very good receiver, but his blocking skills need work.

I live in Yuma, Arizona. Not many SEC games on TV... we mostly get Pack-10, Big-12 and some Big-10... Other than the random primetime ESPN game, no, I don't see many SEC, ACC or other main conference games.

I work (sort of) for Rivals, so I know what I've read.

I like what I've read (other than the lack of fundamentals in blocking technique), but again, I'm flying blind.

Scouting Report

Pros: Watkins is a top ball-hawk who has a burst to the ball to make the big play and finish with sure, strong tackling. He has fine range with the ability to make up huge chucks of yardage using his speed and long strides to cover the field. He is a very big, tall and smooth safety that has good natural instincts and looks great when playing center field at the free safety spot. He has very good hip turn for a man his size. He knows how to use his size to get high in the air and snatch or deflect a ball above the reach of most players. He is very intelligent and knows how to use good angles to his advantage. He is a solid, reliable tackler who wraps up consistently. He has the size and speed to match up well with big receivers and tight ends.
Cons: His coverage skills have progressed, but still needs work, especially his ability to match up in man. In run support, he is not a big hitter. He needs overall strength development that will elevate his power significantly.
Numbers: At the Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds with a 41” vertical jump and 11’1” broad jump. He did 14 reps in the 225-pound bench press.
Skinny: He is similar to the Jaguars’ Donovin Darius in size, athletic ability and level of development. He is an imposing athlete with an early starting grade, but needs some development in pass coverage. He is a top-100 prospect with the talent to be a fine player with some work. Teams like the Giants and Dolphins are interested late on the first day, likely in the third round.

Congrats on Watkins. I wanted him something fierce. He's going to be a great run-stuffing playmaker for you guys. 6-4, 210 pounds, big, strong, athletic...

He'll make an immediate impact on a part-time basis because of his sub-par coverage skills, but as a fourth linebacker or second strong safety, he'll add depth and the defense won't even miss a beat.

Byrd and now they have Todd Heap's twin in Klopfenstein.

Byrd Im more excited about coming out of that USC program. Concerned about him being injured though, if he can stay healthy, he and Klop are steals.
