I think Cowboys have done decent. Carpenter and Watkins were good picks for D and Fasano is good for the 2 TE sets

Mr Dio
04-30-2006, 12:42 PM
Can't believe we're going to have the same run D as last yr.
A little too soft up the gut.

Damn, AZ's draft looks good.

The freakin Rams I think might be on a roll, the Patriots were looking at this kid to be a Randle El type. Im gonna quit bitching and defer to Linehan, dudes obviously got his scouts lookiing in the right places.

Albert Breer/ Daily News staff wrote:
Over the last two years, the Patriots have played the Steelers three times. And on each occasion, college quarterback-turned-receiver Antwaan Randle El has broken off a big play on New England.

Now, the team is taking a look delving into a Randle El project of their own.

The Daily News has learned that Patriots officials traveled to Charlottesville, Va. to conduct a private workout with Virginia quarterback Marques Hagans, who projects to be either a receiver or third-down back in the NFL. The 5-foot-9<+>3<+>/<->8<->, 202-pounder was a two-year starter for former Bill Belichick staffmate Al Groh and the Cavaliers.

"Different teams are looking at him different ways," said agent Vance Malinovic. "A lot of them are looking at him in the Randle El capacity, and I can see how they would."

A highly-efficient college passer -- he compiled a 62 percent completion percentage in his final two seasons after replacing the Falcons' Matt Schaub at UVA -- Hagans could slide into the slot receiver/return man role that Randle El filled in Pittsburgh. He isn't regarded as being as explosive as the new Redskin, but the 4.5 he clocked at his pro day proved he possesses receiver speed.

His vision and instincts as a runner -- shown scrambling in college -- and quick feet, balance and body control are all plusses, and Malinovic says Hagans has little reservation about changing positions.

With the departure of Andre' Davis and Tim Dwight, the Patriots could use a versatile player of Hagans' ilk and could have him in the sixth or seventh round.

With all the talk of character in the NFL Rod Wright is a solid citizen.

McQuistan played along side his twin brother Paul on the left side. He originally signed at WSU along with his brother, but elected not to play football. He had a change of heart in 2003 and came back and red-shirted. He play in 10 games at both guard and tackle as a junior and started all 11 games at left guard in 2005.

E.J. Whitley
6-6 293 lbs

Scouting Report

Pros: Whitley is a tall, angular left tackle who has very long arms. His sound technique and huge size allow him to overcome only slightly better-than-average athleticism. He relies on smarts, sound positioning and technique to gain a fast advantage. He has developed into a good pass protector using those skills, despite only adequate quickness, speed and athletic ability. He shows the ability to easily slide along the line. He has good size with the long reach, flexibility, footwork and functional strength to start in the NFL. He has graded out much higher over his career as a pass protector than a run blocker after playing in an offense that seldom ran the ball.
Cons: As a run blocker, he needs to develop more explosiveness and drive off the ball. He has only adequate footwork for the outside. He lacks a powerful surge at the point of attack and relies more on finesse. As a drive blocker, he lacks the strong leg drive to grade out high consistently - it is an area that needs development. He must learn to sustain and finish his run blocks better and show a nasty disposition more often.
Numbers: At the Combine he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.38 seconds with a 25” vertical jump and an 8’5” broad jump. He did 16 reps of the 225-pound bench press.
Skinny: After an average performance at the Senior Bowl, he projects only to the late rounds is not a prospect with a clearly defined position. Solid collegiate tackle with NFL starting ability in time, but he needs improvement. He is a marginal top-200 prospect and will fall to the late rounds.

I think so. At least on paper anyway. I couldn't believe Bunkley was still there at 15. Considering he was rated as a top 15 talent, Justice was steal in the second. I didn't get the Gocong pick in the 3rd, but after watching the film on him, I undertood. Jiles in the 4th was another big steal. Bloom is lightning quick.

Eagles had a good draft.

My mom's friend is a scout for the Eagles, so I am sure he is satisfied with it.

Yeah, there have been some real big flops in the NFL but something about that Bloom kid. He is a weasel with serious speed & NO FEAR.
Specials Teams play being a huge part of today's game I'm suprised he lasted that long for teams that didn't have too many serious needs.
