Local station just broke it.. He's suspended for gm6. Not really much of a surprise.

But one of Kobe's fouls will be upgraded to a flagrant 1, according to the station.

This is not good for the Lakers. bell was actually helping the Lakers move the ball, by keeping it from the ballhog.

Kobe gonna get 65 but Lakers lose

This might cause the Lakers to come out a little less aggressively than they would otherwise. A little like the Spurs in game 2 of their series. I could see this not hurting the Suns all that much.

Suns are done. Nash isn't Jordan... and Nash now has virtually no help. Marion and Diaw are role players who wont step it up enough to win. I am actually looking forward to a Clips and Lakers series. Don't know who will win that one, but i'd probably give the edge to the Clips.

Raja half-assed it.

If he didn't want to get suspended, he shoulda held his left arm straight out horizontally.

If he wanted to be suspended, shoulda added a throwdown to his clothesline.

Great avatar -

"Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, "Give me your best shot. I can take it."

"When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

"All I know is that this Lo Pan character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires cutting everybody to shreds while he just STANDS there waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him with LIGHT coming out of his mouth!"

Damn, I love that movie. Classic.

Bell is dumb...did he think he would get away with it?

Posey was suspended and what Bell did was worse.

No one to blame but himself.

Plus, now hopefully I can sell my Lakers/Clips playoff tix for $$$.

Bell suspended one game for takedown of Bryant

The Phoenix Suns forced a Game 6 with the Lakers, but Raja Bell won't be on the court for them in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Bell was suspended for throwing Kobe Bryant to the floor in Tuesday night's game. He was hit with his second technical foul with 7:33 left in the game for the takedown and was ejected.

The Arizona Republic reported that Suns executive Jerry Colangelo called Stu Jackson as soon as the game ended to get a dialogue started with the NBA's top disciplinarian.

"We don't believe this was an isolated incident or play," Colangelo told the newspaper. "There were a number of things that led up to that flagrant foul. Things that have happened the whole series. A lot of elbows. It's been a very physical matchup between Raja and Kobe. I think Raja was pretty explicit. He lost his head. He overreacted, but a lot of things led to it."

Bell and Bryant also had been called for a double-technical in the second quarter.

"It's been a pretty physical series, and at that point in time I had caught another elbow in the jaw and I lost my head and overreacted to it," Bell said. "It could have cost my team and for that I'm sorry."

After Bell threw Bryant down, he pointed to the Lakers' bench and yelled, "That's your foul."

"It's a physical game," Bryant said. "I'm not trying to go out there and elbow somebody, that's not the way I play. If you get elbowed, you still have to keep your cool. I get elbowed all the time."

Steve Nash said Bell's foul was no worse than some the Lakers committed earlier in the series, so he didn't believe a suspension was warranted.

"They're going to single one out because it's on Kobe? To me that's a shame," Nash said.

"There were a couple of elbows thrown," The Suns' Boris Diaw said. "I saw Raja on the floor twice before he got ejected. Raja got hit many times. It probably was frustration."

Bell should have been suspended just for the sheer stupidity of it.

It was CLEARLY pre-meditated. It was CLEARLY flagrant. Raja is the only player on the Suns who has even a prayer of guarding Kobe. And Phoenix had the game essentially clinched, and the Lakers were completely docile. What exactly did he think he was going to accomplish?

The more you think about it, it might have been the single most stupid play of the year.

Am I the only one who actually WANTS to see a WCF between the Spurs and Lakers?!?

For one thing, all the games would be broadcast on ABC, which is all I get at my place. Also, the Spurs would utterly annihilate the Lakers, and no matter how many I times I watch the 2003 Championship DVD, I just can't get enough of Kobe crying his eyes out as his season comes to an end. Finally, it would make Kobe 3-3 lifetime against the Spurs in the playoffs, and all these evil Lakers fans would feel the same way we felt in 01, 02, and 04.

Go Lakers!

Apparently Bell said that when he complained to an official in the fourth quarter about Bryant's wayward elbows, Jackson told him, "You (expletive-deleted) deserved it." So I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

If Phil somehow infuriated Bell enough to get him suspended that just adds to what a great job he's done this year. :lol

Wow, that's the funniest thing I've seen Kobe say. Here's a little transcript for anyone that missed it ---

Raja Bell:
"Honestly? He hit me in the face, then he came down and tried to bully me a couple times on the play. I went over the referee, Greg Willard, and asked him what happened, and Phil Jackson said 'I effing deserved it.' And then I said 'what?' and he said, 'You effing deserve it.' "

Kobe:
"I don't think anyone expects to get clotheslined during a basketball game. But it was still fun."

Raja Bell:
"It's a personal thing when someone continually hits you in the face. That's the only way I can put it. I've been playing as hard as I can play, been trying to do a good job, I've been trying to be what my team needs me to be, and I continually get hit in my face."

Kobe:
"Oh come on, I retaliate and what, miss a game? For this guy?" (shakes his head)

Raja Bell:
"There doesn't seen to be any boundaries or limitations for what he's allowed to do to me, and at that point I kinda lost my cool and I took it into my own hands."

Kobe:
"Does he know me? Do I know this guy? I don't know this guy. I might have said one word to this guy. I don't know this kid. I think he overreacts to stuff. I don't know him, I don't think about him. We go out there and we play, we play during the season, we play each other. That's it. I don't know this kid. I don't need to know this kid. I don't want to. We go out there and play the game and leave it at that. Maybe he wasn't hugged enough as a kid, I look at him a little bit and he gets a little insecure about something. I don't know."
