They've killed over 1000 American soliders in Iraq.

They've killed - what? - 20,000 Iraqis, many of them civilians.

They know that many of them will be going to prison or the gas chamber for treason under President Kerry.

FREEPER RESEARCH/ESSAY ASSIGNMENT

My 10th grade daughter is enrolled in an Advanced Placement (AP) World History class at her public high school. The teacher (a "friendly" who shares conservative Christian views with my family, but has to play it down the middle in class) recently introduced a concept known as the "Conrad-Demarest Model of Empires." This model discusses the conditions which give rise to empires, the major results of empires, and why empires fail.

This Monday the class will engage in a student-led discussion of whether the United States is an empire and if so, whether we are on the rise or in decline.

Freepers, my daughter often stands alone in these class discussions defending reason and liberty. Most of her classmates are little lib Kool-Aid drinkers. I would LOVE for her to have some "shock & awe" information to use in this discussion.

Properly equipped, I know my daughter can handle this. Last year she was lead defense counsel in a mock war crimes trial of Napoleon Boneparte. She got an acquittal. The kids were itchin' to lop off a head since the teacher had already placed a cardboard guillotine in the classroom, so they executed him anyway! Tough crowd.

What I'm looking for are citations to references (preferably on-line) which support the proposition that America is not an empire. Of course, any essays you write yourselves will be highly valued.

Nothing like brainwashing your kids early.
