Forget, as hard as it may be, that we won't be defending Champs. And just ask yourself something and think about it.
Did the Spurs get the respect they deserved by the officials in this series?
Was Dallas really just younger and more energetic or is that just the excuse?
The Mavs are just as good as the Spurs. Yes they won the series, but they and we know they are not a better team. Not saying we are either.
When you look back to the Derek Fisher shot, that series went down easier than it should have. The way the game is played today that shot wouldn't have counted, and we would be singing different toons right now. But it's okay, cause it's long over with now. Right now, I can honestly tell myself it wasn't all San Antonio's fault we lost.
My point of the whole matter in discussing the series is the shots fell for Dallas when it mattered, the whistle blew for them when it mattered, and the game clock was always on their side. We could easily be up 3-1 and have closed it out. Could should and would, right? Not this time, not in that series. I will not swallow this feeling over the course of mistakes and calls in this series. I won't accept that we just lost because that's how it is sometimes. Because in big time high school games I've been in, in rooting for any team I love, for the first time I know inside it's not all our faults.
All I wish for now is a good offseason, for all the Spurs fans to understand this series was out of our hands during a lot of the games, and that we will be right back here in a year. And, that Dallas gets their shit handed to them in the WCF's.
That's my soapbox, congrats to the Dallas Mavericks finally beating the San Antonio Spurs on the scoreboard.
