View Full Version : Tony Parker at the Suns/Mavs Game...

I was watching today's game between the Mavs and Suns, and then a reporter interviewed Tony Parker, who was at the game wearing Boris Diaw's jersey, I think...Anyway, he talked about how he was there to support his good friend Boris, fellow Frenchman. Tony seemed very relaxed and happy, even...When asked about how he is doing after the big loss to the Mavs, he talked about how the Spurs players are all young and still have plenty of more opportunities for more championship trophies. Anyway, it's nice to know that all the guys are doing well and have already moved on. I also liked how Tony Parker made sure that it was obvious that he was rooting for the Suns..LOL...

Yeah, I laughed at the young thing myself. And of course he's rooting for the Suns, and I really don't think its a slight at the Mavs, he's just rooting for his boy, as he has been ever since he came over to the Spurs from France some 5 years ago. I found it funny how he was wearing a #13 Jersey which I guess was a Diaw one even though Diaw is #3 on the Suns and Nash is #13. I saw that #13 and immediately was like hmm is Tony secretly a Nash fan? That would be interesting, and to top it off, he had on a #23 cap which I can only assume was a Jordan one. If not, then boy Tony has love for all NBA players.

Yeah, I think that when he talked about the "young part"...I think he was talking about himself, really. He's got the longest contract out of all the Spurs players. Hence Tony definitely is sure to win at least a few more rings...Being only 24 years old helps him a great deal...As opposed to the older players such as Finley, Horry, Bowen, Barry, etc...See, that's why I had started the "which player was most hurt by the loss" thread a few days ago...To point out the "age issues" and "contractural issues"....

Yeah, very true...but I think Bruce Bowen is also that core...He has started in all games since coming to the Spurs in 2001...He will turn 35 soon, but, in my opinion, he plays the game as if he were in his early twenties...

And in the French Team , Boris Diaw had the number 13

the 13 is the number of Boris Diaw Mother when she play for France basketball team
When Bobo came to phoenix he want to keep the 13 but Steve Nash got it

I look back and think at everyone asking if Malik was going to be at the Finals last year. I would think theres no way as someone who just lost out on an opportunity you'd want to see people taking part in that same game you were trying to reach.

I come from the Avery Johnson school of point guards. When the Spurs were eliminated back in the day, AJ acted like his dog had been run over until the next preseason started. He'd be the one calling offseason meetings and making sure the team kept the goal of a championship in mind. AJ was all about winning championships and as a point guard, that's what I've come to expect.
To be fair to TP, I don't know how he's acting behind the scenes. Plus with him being the youngest of the core members, it's still going to be tough for him to be an on court and off court leader.
All I know is you would never have caught an Avery Johnson or a Mario Elie at a playoff game after being eliminated.

And I would agree with him.
With the .4 loss, the Spurs still were in the playoffs. The Spurs still could have been fired up enough to end up on top if they really wanted to, but they sort of rolled over and died after the .4 shot.

I said it was weak that Pop and Bruce went to the "It's Just Basketball" card after they lost. If you are going to look at it that way, then it should still be "Just Basketball" when you win. Cancel the river parade because it's just a game.

I was actually very happy to see Bruce, Pop, and Tony doing so well and being so carefree and relaxed...Basketball is a game, it's a gamble...There are no certainties in this game...You win or lose...That's part of basketball. You can't just roll over and die after you loose a game, whether it's very important game or not...Life goes on. You have to move on and concentrate on the future. All Pop, Tony, and Bruce talked about was coming back next year and keep playing to win. There is no need to disect the past. You can't change the past. It's done and over with...Plus it's not like they lost in the Finals, that would be more painful because you are so close to victory...They lost in the second round...Who knows if they would have beat the Suns next, and then beat Pistons/Miami in the Finals...You never know...
Life is indeed about learning from your mistakes. You have to be mentally strong. I mean we all KNOW that the guys were majorly upset over the loss and were very disappointed...BUT that does not mean that they have to keep reliving the same horrible loss over and over again in their minds...It's called let the past stay in the past. There are more years ahead. They can still win...I love this optimistic view that the Spurs have. It shows that they will keep fighting no matter what. Nothing is ever truly lost...
So I don't get why some people are upset about the Spurs not showing more pain...LOL...do you want them to be in pain? I mean some teams have NEVER even won ONE ring...and still were able to move on with their lives...LOL...Spurs are THREE time winners...it's not like they lost their last chance!

You never accept loosing, even in life...BUT what else can you do? Commit suicide everytime you loose a very important and crucial game? If you can't handle loosing, then you are in the wrong business...This is a game where you have to have mental toughness...You have to accept the loss, learn from it, move on, and then come back even stronger...Life is like that too. You learn from your mistakes, and then you move on, and your mistakes even make you that much stronger as a result...
After the .4 loss, the next year, they came out better than ever. This a STRONG mental team that never gives up....If they are down, they get up..that's the way it goes...And I have no doubt that they will come back with more fire and passion next year...

True. He had one bad game. His shooting percentage sucked because of the groin and thigh injuries, but he showed up and did his job.

I can't blame Tony for being there and supporting his good buddy Boris.
It does piss me off seeing several the Spurs (including Pop and Bowen) being so blase about being eliminated. Show some fire damnit.
Tony should begin recruiting his boy Diaw to come join the Spurs.
