King: San Antonio was inhospitable
Ron Artest says problems at two hotels and the visitors' locker room upset the Kings.

LAS VEGAS -- When the Kings lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of last season's playoffs, their end resulted from numerous factors.
Running out of gas, according to Ron Artest, was not one of them.
Nearly three months after the Spurs won the series in six games, the Kings' small forward said San Antonio's home-court advantage went beyond the court. He said the AT&T Center's visitors' locker room reeked with gas before the Spurs' Game 5 victory, and that the hotel experience at two facilities didn't do much for relaxation and preparation throughout the series.
Wake-up calls in hotel rooms, Artest said, routinely came hours early for numerous players. And room service, he also said, would take several hours to arrive.
The Kings switched hotels after losing Game 1, moving from a Hyatt Regency on the city's outskirts to a downtown Marriott. San Antonio's annual "Fiesta" event was taking place at the time, and Kings officials said they had stayed at the Hyatt because there was no availability near the city's Riverwalk. But Artest said the hotel move didn't improve matters.
"It was both hotels, really, but the second hotel was horrible," said Artest, who was suspended for Game 2 of the series. "The second hotel, they were waking us up too early. They were bringing our lunch late. When you play an NBA game, you've got to have your lunch at a certain time. You eat at a certain time.
"One morning, I didn't even get my breakfast. I had to eat my breakfast on the bus. And then when I got to the game, they had the gas (in the locker room). The gas was killing our locker room. It wasn't even a safe environment. It was horrible, horrible. … I just know that if the Spurs are going to make us smell gas, we should've made the Spurs smell gas. We should've put gas in their locker room."
Kings shooting guard Kevin Martin said he never requested a wake-up call, but he did remember smelling the gas.
"I just had the gas thing," he said. "It was horrible. I think I remember just smelling it once."
Spurs officials declined comment. Kings spokesman Darrin May said he was aware of the gas in the locker room before Game 5 but had no knowledge of the hotel difficulties.

Wake up calls hours early, food taking hours, and gas in the lockerroom, if it's true you can't really defend it in any way. Only thing that the Spurs organization would be responsible for is the lockerroom, but that is pretty bad. The rest is on the citizens on of SA.

I don't believe that the Spurs organization would intentionally pump gas into the locker room, that's too dangerous. So I'm guessing there was actually a problem at the arena, if his claims are true.
As far as the wakeup calls and food, yes that's probably just the citizens of SA trying to get a little edge. Poor sportsmanship? Sure.

You're a pussy in a hotel for using the wake up call? You are a moron if you believe that. I use the wake up call and alarm clock when I stay in a hotel.
If it's true, what difference does it make when he brings it up? I'm sure that if he brought it up right afterwards it would look like he was blaming that for losing the series, which I don't think he is trying to do. If it's true it should be addressed.
So smelling something gas-like in the lockerroom isn't a concern to you unless they have hard proof? Yeah, they should have called in a private dick instead of going over their pregame stuff. Great point.

Don't address it right after it happens because you look like you are blaming the loss on that garbage. Instead bring it up when the dust settles, so it can be dealt with so it doesn't happen again.
Basically you dismiss this because Ron Artest's name is attached to it. And you act like it is all good anyways, like this stuff should be expected in a on the road in the playoffs, and I don't think that it should be expected.

There is no way any organization would intentionally send natural gas into anyone's locker room. Not only is that potentially lethal by inhalation, but it could spark an explosion. No one in the NBA would do that. If there was a maintence problem, they should have spoken up about it at the time. As for the hotels, that shit happens everywhere. TP got poisoned by a creme brulee a couple of years back at a hotel, but it was his damn fault for ordering a fucking creme brulee at a hotel. You know it's the playoffs. You know the hotel staff is probably for your opponent. Do everything yourself, especially when it comes to food. Is it fair? That's an excellent point. The visitors' locker at Arco Arena is the shabbiest piece of shit in the league. I even posted a picture of the folding chairs in there in a thread a few months ago.
So any King or King fan complaining about another team's visitor's locker room = douchebag.

Hahahahahahahahahaha - people still arguing about this nonsense. If you aren't smart enough to figure the opposing team's fans working for a hotel in the opposing team's city are going to fuck with you then you deserve to get poisoned food and wake up calls at 2:00 AM or whatever udgodly hour. Here's a hint - why don't you learn to do just about everything your damn self so you don't get fucked with. I swear, these NBA pussies are so pampered they can't even set a damn alarm. Talk about not being able to adapt... and thinking that any organization would intentionally try to murder another team by pumping a lethal gas into their locker room is absolutely insane.

move to vegas? :lmao your team will never win a title again. you have 3 titles and we have 0 but you cant beat the mavs or suns with your current lineup. i like the spurs but thats just my opinion.

Alleged gas smell in the locker room... Valero is minority owner of the Spurs... that's home court advantage baby.

Well we'll see; Pop and R.C. will figure this out. You better hope that the Maloof's convince 2/3 of the voters of Sac County for your arena or it's splitsville.
Namaste!!!

the spurs were seconds away from beating the mavs, and nothing in the suns recent history suggests they would beat the spurs in a 7 game series. probably wouldn't be 4-1 again, but the spurs have the suns' number.

Speaking of Vegas, I hope they get a team. That team will automatically become my 2nd favorite team since I spend so much time there.
