King: San Antonio was inhospitable
Ron Artest says problems at two hotels and the visitors' locker room upset the Kings.

LAS VEGAS -- When the Kings lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of last season's playoffs, their end resulted from numerous factors.
Running out of gas, according to Ron Artest, was not one of them.
Nearly three months after the Spurs won the series in six games, the Kings' small forward said San Antonio's home-court advantage went beyond the court. He said the AT&T Center's visitors' locker room reeked with gas before the Spurs' Game 5 victory, and that the hotel experience at two facilities didn't do much for relaxation and preparation throughout the series.
Wake-up calls in hotel rooms, Artest said, routinely came hours early for numerous players. And room service, he also said, would take several hours to arrive.
The Kings switched hotels after losing Game 1, moving from a Hyatt Regency on the city's outskirts to a downtown Marriott. San Antonio's annual "Fiesta" event was taking place at the time, and Kings officials said they had stayed at the Hyatt because there was no availability near the city's Riverwalk. But Artest said the hotel move didn't improve matters.
"It was both hotels, really, but the second hotel was horrible," said Artest, who was suspended for Game 2 of the series. "The second hotel, they were waking us up too early. They were bringing our lunch late. When you play an NBA game, you've got to have your lunch at a certain time. You eat at a certain time.
"One morning, I didn't even get my breakfast. I had to eat my breakfast on the bus. And then when I got to the game, they had the gas (in the locker room). The gas was killing our locker room. It wasn't even a safe environment. It was horrible, horrible. … I just know that if the Spurs are going to make us smell gas, we should've made the Spurs smell gas. We should've put gas in their locker room."
Kings shooting guard Kevin Martin said he never requested a wake-up call, but he did remember smelling the gas.
"I just had the gas thing," he said. "It was horrible. I think I remember just smelling it once."
Spurs officials declined comment. Kings spokesman Darrin May said he was aware of the gas in the locker room before Game 5 but had no knowledge of the hotel difficulties.

CIA Pop at it again.
Okay, who was the idiot who forgot to gas the Mavs?![]()
Wow. Newsflash. Crazy Ron thinks people are out to get him.
LMAO @ Kobe Bryant getting food poisoning in Sacramento.
Unplug your hotel phone and set the alarm on your cell phone.Wake-up calls in hotel rooms, Artest said, routinely came hours early for numerous players.
, find me a hotel where it doesn't take hours to arrive. And room service, he also said, would take several hours to arrive.
I wonder what Ron Artest would do if he'd ever had to play in the old Boston Garden.
I've only rarely had problems with room service.
If NBA players are really ty tippers, though, that could have an effect.
Oh, man, the visitor "service" there was infamous. They provided no hot water even before the place became an old dump.
I wonder what Ronnie would do if he had to work for a livng? He whines so bad he sounds like a Mav.
ing whining about losing in July? Even the Mavericks have pretty mush settled down by now. Goddamn, I don't think the Spurs have actually deserved to win a game or a series in like fifteen years. Does that mean I get to say that they didn't deserve to lose too?

hey !!!! i couldn't make it on time![]()
Maybe they shouldn't have farted so much?
Wake up calls hours early, food taking hours, and gas in the lockerroom, if it's true you can't really defend it in any way. Only thing that the Spurs organization would be responsible for is the lockerroom, but that is pretty bad. The rest is on the citizens on of SA.
If it's true. Artest's relationship with the truth is frequently strained, at best.
That's bull .
If it's that important to you, set your own damn alarm and go downstairs to pick up some food.
Was the diaper service late too?
I don't believe that the Spurs organization would intentionally pump gas into the locker room, that's too dangerous. So I'm guessing there was actually a problem at the arena, if his claims are true.
As far as the wakeup calls and food, yes that's probably just the citizens of SA trying to get a little edge. Poor sportsmanship? Sure.
Pretty easy to dismiss because it was Artest that chose to speak up, but Martin also recalls the gas in the lockerroom. Can't dismiss Martin.
Even if it is true, you think it is fair game. Classy.
If it is true, I don't think it's classy. Ron is acting like a helpless pussy.
I guess that's what happens when you play basketball in a barn.
What a pussy, I mean waking somebody up in the middle of their slumber, making them wait for food, and have to smell gas in the lockerroom, BFD right? Yeah these pampered althletes should expect this kind of behavior and treatment, especially during the playoffs. At least in San Antonio, right? in' pussies!!!!!
