View Full Version : Is a Ford Fusion a chick car?

Burn531

Yes or no?

I kinda like the look of it and it's cheap. I was talking to my brother and his friends about it and they all agree only women would drive that car. I'm not sure but I can turn in my car I have right now instead of 6 months down the line.

Any thoughts would be cool.

You can buy one, and then go to the gas station with your friends while you all fill up together, and laugh your ass off at them when you can go twice as far on 1/2 as much $$. :tu

Just don't ever have an accident in one. :drunk

Assuming you are talking about Ford's US Taurus replacement, and not that European microvan thing, yes it is kind of a chick car, but less so than the Mercury Milan (its twin).

Among domestic competitors, the Dodge Charger is the most masculine.

Your brother and his friends need to grow up. If you like the car then go buy it, you're the one making the payments.

And I love that commercial where the Fusion turns into the NASCAR version after the smoke....

The Fusion's body design is not used in NASCAR, nor is the Monte Carlo's, nor the Charger's, nor the Camry's, nor the Grand Prix's.

Decals that look sort of like the headlights and grilles of those cars are affixed to the front ends of the more-or-less standard NASCAR racers.

Here's the bottom line---

To any person sufficiently sophomoric to care whether a car is a "chick car" or not, I'm sorry, but any new car that is not tuned for performance will not be considered sufficiently male unless it is a bargain-basement piece of crap. Even then, in order to validate your penis, you have to change the rims and make other manly modifications. This is why you used to see Hyundai Accents with gobs of chrome and flashy rims. Mature adults think those cars look ridiculous, but "mature adults" don't understand how much you value the opinions others have of your manliness and what it implies about your penis.

So you have a choice -- you can satsify your own likes, or you can submit to the dominant social order of the wolfpack. You cannot do both.

I agree, unless it's a Miata...
Think about it. The Miata emphasizes power-to-weight ratio and handling. These are the sort of things limpwristed pantywaists bring up when trying to argue that they are in fact real men. Sort of the "it's not important how big it is, it's what you do with it." And what does "handling" mean in regards to one's manhood? Gayness. Someone "handling" your package.

The important metaphor for your penis is THRUST. That means HORSEPOWER. That means TORQUE. That doesn't mean "fuel economy" or "sensibility." Fuel economy is the automotive equivalent of eating a salad. Sensibility is the automotive equivalent of the p-whipped mousy househusband whose wife won't let him buy a Harley because "we have to save for Johnny's college." We don't need to SAVE because Johnny's gonna play FOOTBALL.

So, the more HORSEPOWER and TORQUE your car has, the more of a man you are. Actually, the manliest possible vehicle is a TRUCK with TONS of HORSEPOWER and TORQUE, like an F-150 Lightning.

being able to afford one is another reason, i can't. i have just had an SUV since i graduated from high school and really wouldn't care to get another - the 5-10 thousand dollar depreciation that occurs when you drive it off the lot is depressing, and to me the mpg is depressing too. since my family consists of me, my gf, my daughter and our dog the need isn't really there either. for me, at least, the space would be nice but not worth the overall cost.

it wasn't selective amnesia, i wasn't even saying that's the only reason you got one, or even that it was the main reason. a lot of people buy them because they can. btw, curtain airbags don't necessarily offer children extra protection. most children are too short to be offered much protection by them - you need to be around 5 feet tall to receive protection from the curtain airbag.

SUV's give you a false sense of security.

I need to see recent studies to see if they are still the rolling death traps they were in the mid 90s though. Gotta love how Firestone took the heat for that one also.
