An excerpt from Richard Justice's blog at the Houston Chronicle site (chron.com). I like it:
I wasn't impressed with The $76-Million Dollar Man at Saturday's news conference. (He'll become The $108-Million Man when he passes a physical and signs his new contract.) He came off as a whiny baby. He was shocked the Astros didn't step up. Shocked? Give me a break. Some of these guys have something wrong inside their brains. Either that or they're so isolated from the real world that they see themselves as the center of the universe.
For a guy who spent two months twiddling his thumbs, he expected everything to be on a fast track once he said he was ready. He must have some serious Christmas shopping to do. I think the Astros should have offered The $76-Million Man more dough, but they did offer $12 million. That's not an insignificant amount of money. Too bad it shocked Andy Pettitte. I'm certain they would have gone to $14 million if the issue of the second year hadn't been there. I'm sorry The $76-Million Man is shocked at just getting a $12-million offer. I feel terrible for him.
Among the more idiotic things he said Saturday was this quote sent to me from the New York Times:
I know New York is where God wants me and where he's put me for this year.
These guys should hire someone to tell them when to shut their traps. I hope finding The $76-Million Man a place to pitch wasn't high on God's to-do list.
