What's Van Horn up to these days?

I know he sucks, but he sucks less than most of the Spurs roster.

Yeah, but who brings more to the table as of February 2007, him or Michael Finley?

and that's why the end of the duncan era scares me... on top of it, there're so much suckers among the bigs in the whole league right now... the market will be tight for the spurs desk after TD retirement

News flash: once Duncan retires, the Spurs are going to be terrible. Pop will retire. Manu and TP will sign with other teams. The Spurs will win fewer than 20 games. It's inevitable. Don't lose sleep over how they're going to avoid it. They're not.

Yeah let's sign him to a 4 year contract! We love those ex-Dallas players!

I was thinking it couldn't hurt to sign him to a prorated veteran minimum deal for the rest of the season. He would be the eighth-best player on the Spurs.

Sadly, he could be better than 8th.

Nuggets might sign for him for the vet minimum next year :smokin :lol

He was in Denver a couple of weeks ago. Does he have a house there or something?

romain.star
02-03-2007, 06:55 PM
hopefully Beno, Elson, Finley, Rob, Vaughn and Barry will sign extensions till the mid 2010 and the spurs desk will acquire veteran Webber and Keith Van Horn to lead the squad...

Yeah, he lives out in that area. That's why everyone thought he would sign with the Nuggets in the offseason but he just didn't want to play this season or maybe never again.

The Spurs already have enough aging shooters who are terrible defenders. Why add yet another?

Spurs fans are so desperate now they're actually mentioning KVH? I remember last year nothing but insults was said about the guy.

KVH voluntarily took the year off to be a husband and father.

Perfectly valid query given the constraints placed on personnel moves.

Van Horn wouldn't be a bad addition for the minimum, but the problem is that he only improves the 8th or 9th spot in your rotation. The Spurs need help badly higher up.

Pop won't play him because he plays absolutely no d.

I'd rather we just lose gracefully than lose with KVH embarrasing the franchise in the process. No thanks. Don't do it Pop.

Incidentally, I say we try and make the playoffs as the 7 or 8 seed to improve our draft position..sides, it's not like being on homecourt makes us play better.

Marcus Bryant
02-04-2007, 12:31 AM
This franchise is hellbent on embarassment already. KVH won't change that.

Anyways, hopefully the Knicks waive Malik soon. Right now he'd be the 5th best player on the team and the best big outside of TD.

I think Bonner and Van Horn are almost the exact same player. Personally, I'm content with Bonner. He's younger and less injury prone (Bonner is inured now, but I don't think has a history). Adding Van Horn would be redundant imo, and would just make the decisions of who won't/will be active in the games even tougher than it is now.

Hey, the guy killed us in Game 7, 2006.
Maybe his greatest playoff moment ever. He has a lot of bad playoff moments to go with that one great one.

Marcus Bryant
02-04-2007, 12:41 AM
Since this team is lacking any height and length that can play at the 3, KVH would make sense. Yes, it would be a desperation move, but at this point any chance for improvement of any sort, anywhere on the team should not be overlooked.

KVH hit a couple of big shots in Game 7 of last year's WCSF series, despite only seeing spot minutes in that series.

we should sign him just to go out and win the sportsmanship award.

I'm not saying he's any good, just that he might suck a little less than say, Oberto or Finley, in the rotation.

I'm sure he's better than whoever our current 12th man is.

Unless that 12th man is James White. I don't want to send him to the IR or D-league just to bring in KVH. But KVH can stroke it, as he did against us in the playoffs last year, and as he has pretty much his hole career. His flaws are many...but used in limited roles in limited situations, he can do some good things for you. As a 'deep off the bench' guy.

Hell--I'd take Van Horn in a New York second. He can't cover Dirk, but even he is an improvement over Oberto, Mr. No Points, No Rebounds, NADA.
