I know it's the All Star Game and it's not important but man he got screwed in terms of minutes. He didn't even play the entire 4th quarter.
He and KG got the biggest Shaft minutes-wise especially considering the fact that they were starters and that D'Antoni's boy Amare was a reserve and played WAY more minutes than KG or Tim.
It was nice to see Tony get good minutes and play well though.

tony parker had a lot of minutes and he wasn't even a starter, 24 minutes and had ten assists, so you should be happy about that because several guys got a lot less
btw, parker played very well, congrats

good.
who gives a fuck, as long as our boys come back without getting injured, there's nothing more to ask for.
The ASG means nothing. It's not even that entertaining to watch.

man fuck that, duncan should have got his minutes. why da fuck did the fans vote the starters if they dont get to see them compete? no one wanted to see amare, marion, josh howard and ray allen out there more then duncan dirk and garnett
the starters should have got the remaining 6:00 for the fans who voted but d' asshoenie had to be on amare and marions nuts. and i dont even wanna think of nash in that line up, it would have been a sun skeet fest.

Personally I think Tony played that much because he was the only PG on the West.

In my opinion not playing a lot at the all star game is a pretty big sign of respect. I am sure that Duncan or Pop asked that he not play a lot and D'antononi knowing how important duncan is to his team probably was just trying to do what he thought was best for duncan.

Tim's not even the type of All-Star that fits well in the All-Star games anyway...
The all-star game is just a bunch of athletic dunks, which Tim can't do.
Just three's and dunks.
That's the All-Star Game.

yeah i agree, i was telling my bf that it was actually kind of good that they had either him or kobe out there to play point, kobe also had six assists to go along with parker's ten
anyway for the person above bitching about guys like josh howard and marion getting minutes (he didn't get many) as a reserve, parker got more minutes than a lot of guys, even starters, why didn't you include him in that list while you were busy bitching?
anyway, doesn't matter it's just a silly game and the east didn't even try so it was boring

My favorite moment: a WC All Star, maybe Marion, threw down a NASTY dunk, and on the way back up the court, he YAWNED for like 8 seconds. I was thinking "you and me both, brah". :lol

First, it was D'Antoni. He doesn't know anything other than small ball :lol
Second, you don't think TD and Pop asked for limited minutes? They have for years in this game, it's nothing new.
Quit crying, you sound like an Amare fan.

yeah, I don't think Timmy really cared to play that much...I'm sure he requested that he play very little as well. Tony, on the other hand, was the only "true" PG on the West team...I think he would have maybe played 10 minutes had Nash been there. That being said, I also think that Stoudemire would have won the MVP.
Seriously, though, who cares about the MVP and whoever wins the game? Of course, everyone wants their own team's players and their conference to win, but it doesn't mean anything? Notice how Eddie Jordan played neither Butler nor Arenas in the final quarter. According to the announcers, he was spending the break looking at tape of the Wizard's next opponent.
The game is all about showing off for the fans...spectacular dunks, big scores, etc. It's a showcase for fun, but meaningless, and I suppose most people know that (with the exception of this thread-starter).
Tony has the legs to be ready for the Spurs next game...Timmy is already thinking of it...and the rest of the team is ready to practice and get buckled for the home-stretch of the season.
The game was fun to watch, but I'm glad the two boys didn't think they had to put up any numbers (Tony threw up a bunch of alley-oop passes, but no effort was involved and it was all for show).
I did enjoy seeing D'Antoni play the crap out of his players, Marion and Stoudemire, though. That guy doesn't get it. He runs the same 7-man rotation all season, wearing them out...and does so even in the all-star game...this is why his team won't be ready for the playoffs (see Detroit, 2006).

What does that have to do with you making a douche bag blanket statement on this particular thread? Besides I choose to not read almost ALL of the new threads started on a daily bases, because their all the same. Its pretty easy you should try it if your tired of spurs fans crying you that river you asked for.
i'm calling it as i see it, if you disagree, then you're every bit the homer as everybody else is around here.
If your really calling how you see it then you'd know its not the regular posters that start those threads. Its pretty much n00bs or people that don't post here that often.

Tim doesn't have the option of turning down the ASG unless he is injured. But he definitely was going through the motions.
Quick -- no googling -- who was the MVP of the 1997 All-Star Game? Nobody cares. All that matters is being named an All-Star. What happens in the game is irrelevant.
I think the 97' MVP was memorable because MJ had the first AS Game triple double.. I think, not 100% sure.
But yep, your point remains.

I was thinking the whole time what an idiot D'Antoni was to play his boys that much. He runs them into the ground during the regular season and then plays them a lot in a meaningless allstar game when they could use the rest :lol

We should all be grateful to D'Antoni for resting Tim during an utterly meaningless game. Besides, D'Antoni is owned by San Antonio, so who cares?

uber lame thread
anyone with a timvpesque bball IQ would know tim doesn't care and most likely asked not to be played, PLUS, parker got mad playing time and had his way with EVERYONE at every position on the court. In fact, spurs fans should be psyched as all hell because Parker was the main reason the West jumped out to a ridiculous lead....the east was playing 1 on 1 and when Parker got into the game he just ran the offense and the West took off.....it was like night and day compared to his last ASG, and I'm proud of ze lil french man.

The last 2 years both Duncan and KG hardly played and spent most of the game sitting next to eachother talking on the bench. I don't think that is a coincidence at all i think their coaches or maybe they themselves ask the west coach not to play them much. They probably wanted alot of minutes when they were younger but now that they are getting older they just want to save what they have for the games that matter.

The All Star Game is not really fun for the big men it is a guard controlled exhibition. The guards never pass the damn ball and rarely when they do it is just to set up a big alley oop dunk. Mostly they are just jacking up 3's and driving to the basket.
