No collision. DW stuck his hand in on Shane driving by, and got a freak shot to his shoulder. I bet it's a sublaxation, maybe with a rotator strain or tear.

If he's out for weeks, 7th place Heat could miss the playoffs.

Knowing Wade, he'll be back for the next game, and very heroically score 40 points, all while wincing when the camera pans to him, so we can all see how much pain he is in and how very brave and valorous he is.

I don't like to see anyone get injured but at least it happened while he was in the act of fouling another player (which wasn't called) Better than if he had been knocked down on one of his patented drives to the basket.

Of course, they'll probably suspend Battier for hurting Wade...a reverse flagrant foul...or something. This is the NBA after all.

You all don't know the extent of the injury. Sometimes pain is so severe you can't move without collapsing. Others any simple movement causes more pain. There is a reason they ask you to be immobilized during many injuries.

Those of you cheering an injury are just idiots. I've had to watch Dirk draw bullshit foul after bullshit foul in the playoffs, and most superstars get the same calls. Thats not a reason to wish a fucking injury on someone and then laugh at them during it. Some of you are really tempting karma.

I'm not cheering an injury or wish him one. It's just because how much shit his fans talk and how he was given a ring at the line. I hope he's not hurt badly, but it is funny after all the shit him and his fans talk.

Wade was ATTACKED by your owners as was everyone else on the Heat. Cuban can't even lose gracefully. It doesn't matter what he thinks makes hte Mavs the best team from the last year, the only thing that maters is who actually wins. And he can't accept that so he has to knock on the Heats championship.

When you say something like that unprovoked, you aren't protecting shit. You're eing a classless fuck who apparently has little dick syndrome and needs to show everyone just how great he is. Its fucking transparent.

It's times like this when Spurs fans like to take the time to remind us that they're not just better fans - they're better human beings than all of us.
That would be because we are. If anything happened to Dirk, you might have 3-4 Spurs fans out of all of them on the board acting like you asshats, and the other 5000 pissed because we wouldn't be beating you full strength.

I'm sure some of you spurs fans and rockets fan were happy when Josh Howard went down earlier in the season. When you dislike someone so much on the other team it is hard to overcome that feeling of glad he is injured. Maybe I shouldn't take it personally with these players but it is human nature. I just don't like D. Wade.

No one is laughing at his injury. Is just that is hard to believe that Wade is really that hurt given his history of getting injured and coming back into the game with a valient effort to win the game. Last year in the playoffs he did his injury routine against the Bulls and the Pistons. The whole wheelchair thing to me seems a bit over the top.

Chris Webber got hit in the eye, and had a corneal abrasion (I'm not saying the injury is the same). He just didn't make a dramatic production out of it. Walked back to the locker room, and that's it.

It sucks if he truly is hurt, but it doesn't change the fact that he's a drama queen.

Though I don't quite agree with Manny earlier saying it was equal to bball fans laughing at the dude who blew his knee out and how it wasn't a laughing matter.

I mean the injury wasn't funny, it was a shame since it was a whole year. But the showboating that led him to do it, wasn't helping him get any sympathy.

HOUSTON -- Tracy McGrady scored 32 points Wednesday night to lead the Houston Rockets to a 112-102 victory over the Miami Heat, who had Pat Riley back on the bench but lost Dwyane Wade late in the game.

Wade injured his left shoulder in the fourth quarter and was in so much pain that he had to be taken off in a wheelchair.

The Heat were 13-17 when Riley stepped down nearly seven weeks ago for operations to replace his left hip and repair cartilage in his right knee. They had gotten back on track recently, winning seven of their last eight games, but trailed by as many as 18 Wednesday and dropped back below .500.

Wade, who left with 27 points, got tangled up with Shane Battier and grimaced in pain before going to the bench. A couple of minutes later he was helped into a wheelchair and taken off the bench. He was not moving his left arm and appeared to be in severe pain as he was wheeled away.

The Heat said Wade would not accompany the team on their trip to Dallas for Thursday night's game, instead going to a Houston hospital to have his injury diagnosed.

It really isn't funny. I'd much rather face a team at full strength than one reeling as a result of injuries. Wishing for a player to be injured implies that you are not confident about your own team--and if that's the case, you're not really a true fan.

This thread is disgusting.

Mavs fans -- Do you not recall when Irvin went down in Philly and the crowd cheered? Remember how that made you feel?

Is it okay to laugh at someone for dislocating a shoulder but not for breaking his neck? What about a broken leg (LT's hit on Theismann)? What about a torn ACL? Where do you draw the line?

I'm pretty sure none of you would have been laughing had you been in Wade's shoes. You don't have to feel sorry for him, but if you laugh at that kind of pain I can only hope you never experience it, because you certainly wouldn't have the kind of fortitude to handle it. If you DO ever hurt yourself with any kind of severity, I can only hope there are people standing around to laugh at you. I'm sure you'll enjoy such a touching moment.

Leave these boards and go find some decency.

Down 30 points after three quarters, Dwyane Wade will be carted out to the court in a wheelchair, arm in a sling, 110 degree fever, dehydration, two toe hangnails, tennis elbow, and bronchitis. Then he'll proceed to drop 50 points in the fourth quarter on the Mavs, 46 of them on the free throw line, and it will be hailed as the greatest single performance in the history of athletics.

Funny thing about people criticizing this thread is earlier this season when Tracy McGrady was out with back spasms, Heat fans started a thread on their board laughing at McGrady and calling it karma for some of the things he said about Wade and the Heat.

I don't think most people want Wade to be seriously hurt. At least, I hope most people on this thread don't want that. I think they are just laughing at his overdramatics. The extreme hate on Wade might be over the top. But, there is some humor in this. It's not like the kid died.

you should read the threads before responding...i wanted to talk about bonzi's three-pointer so i put it out there to see what others thought...some spurs fan retorted by saying that i was diverting the topic so that people would forget that we mavs fans were assholes and my retort was that i wasn't the one celebrating wade's injury...so yes, i'm going to defend myself from being called an asshole
My bad.

Man...what a dick!

Still, if it's any consolation, I think he wasn't singling you out. I think he was referring to both of you for "changing the topic", since I guess you're both mavs fans.

Man. This place is so stupid at times.

I don't believe you people, well some of you. How can you laugh at this? Wade is a great player and attracts a lot of people to this sport. Aren't we supposed to be bball fans? As far as Mavs fans I know you're bitter but if you ever win a ring wouldn't you want to beat the best? Heat-Wade=not best.
I do agree the wheelchair might have been a little over the top but we're not him, we don't know how bad the pain was, and for someone who takes hard falls constantly it must have been pretty bad. He's not the kind of player that cries constantly over a broken nail. I hope he's fine and back soon, he's fun to watch.

If his shoulder popped out and stayed out, then his reaction makes sense. I've dislocated mine twice and the first time it popped back in on it's own after a few seconds. It hurt like mf'r and after dislocating it again a year later (didn't pop back in after a few seconds) I had to have surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff.

Wade is out for the season IMO. I'd be surprised if there wasn't major damage...

I find it interesting that it's been said that "Well, if Dirk got hurt maybe 3 or 4 idiot Spurs fans would celebrate" as a means to prove that Spurs fans>Mavs fans. You realize that what you have here is just 3 or 4 idiot Mavs fans (plus a couple Lakers, Detroit fans), and the rest aren't celebrating. So I'm having a hard time seeing a huge difference.

For the record, if Wade is really hurt, then I feel bad. I can't deny that I hate his guts (yes, because it still stings from last season), but he is an amazing player, and you never want to take that away for the game or hope any person gets seriously hurt.

Ain't nobody laughing at the injury. People are laughing because he was carried out on a wheelchair for a hurt shoulder.

This isnt wade asking to bring in a wheel chair. This is an organization, doing every thing they can to protect a very valuable investment. If you spent 15m on a painting, would you just nail it to a wall, or would you make sure that shit is taken care of in the absolute, best way possible, not taking any chances?!?

jesus, this guy IS the heat franchise, you expect them to risk that?

Sheesh... A dislocated shoulder can pretty much knock the walk out of your legs. I dunno if you all have suffered one, but that ish is NOT funny at all. It pretty much can paralyze you. When you walk, your shoulders move. When someone carries you, your shoulder moves... Neither of which they did, to keep the extent of his pain as small as it could be. That's not funny.

It is kinda interesting to see how this injury plays into the next few games, specially tonights MAVS/HEAT match after DWade started such a tiff with his Dirk - non leader comments. Karma...? Maybe. I dunno. I didn't watch the game to see what all happened, I just woke up hearing about it...

Sux that he had to get injured. Sux it had to be right before the Mavs game he was lookin forward to (I'm sooo sure). I wouldnt wish injury on anyone or laff at it. I def dont agree he DESERVED it... that is a little harsh - fan or not, would you want it wished on you? or your fav player???

I will admit that at first I thought that the wheel chair might have been a little over the top. However, I have dislocated the same shoulder three times, and each time it never relocated on its own. The pain from the first dislocation was pretty intense. In the matter of minutes it took for my buddy to drive me home after the injury, I was completely pale from the pain. The next 25 minutes to the hospital was the most excruciating car ride in my life. If I was in Wade's shoes, and someone asked if I wanted to walk to the locker room or take a wheelchair, I would choose the wheelchair. And just to let you know, I am no stranger to pain. I have also torn ligaments in my ankle (3rd degree sprain), torn ACL and meniscus, disloacted pinky finger, and had 54 stitches to my head from an attack by a german shepard.

So, after reading the posts and taking some time to think about it. I don't think the wheelchair was shenanigans or over the top. And I really hope people do not cheer or hope injury on any player in any sports because it is just horrible sportsmanship.

Exactly...if his shoulder was still "out" then he definitely wouldn't feel like walking...

Ouch...This is crazy, but after every game the possibility of Miami and Detroit in the first round grows. Best case scenario for the Heat is Wade being out a month. That looked like a real serious injury. Before the season started I said somehow Wade was going to get hurt. I never thought Miami's season would start to crumble though. This could cost them making the playoffs.

That looked like a real serious injury.

Did it though? Having seen it a few times on SC, it didn't really look that bad. I mean, not wheelchair, crying and stretcher bad. I thought the reaction looked worse than the moment the injury was sustained.

wow, dallas and detroit fans are some real bitches.
nice because if I'm not mistaken, there have been the same type of comments from suns, lakers, kings, rockets and spurs fans in this thread. Get off your high horse. No one wished injury on him. These comments weren't made til after the fact. I hope its nothing serious, but when you over-dramatize every little thing that happens to you, people are going to be skeptical. Anyway, I have read from many Mavs fans that we don't want him to be injured, myself included. I want to face them at full strength and was really looking forward to the real rematch with everyone back. Hope he is not out too long.

it may not have looked bad because it happened so quick... watch it in slow motion though and tell me a shoulder is supposed to bend like that. not to mention we dont have close up sound of the incident, when you hear a loud pop or snap coming from your body followed by excruciating pain... it always seems to make things worse :lol

Heat fans should be cheering this injury. With that team full of fat, lazy fuckheads and old guys about to retire, the best thing to ever happen to Wade and the Heat would be getting a lottery pick.

I hope its just a minor injury.. maybe 2 weeks, because the Heat couldn't make it to the playoffs without Wade. Guess we'll see the true value of Kapono then..

Injured Wade hands Heat six-week setback

AFP
February 22, 2007
HOUSTON, (AFP) - Miami superstar guard Dwyane Wade has suffered a dislocated left shoulder and is expected to miss the next six weeks of the season for the reigning National Basketball Association champions.

Wade sufferd the injury here Wednesday in a 112-102 loss to the Houston Rockets, but the loss of the player will be for more crippling than the defeat for a 26-27 club clinging to the final Eastern Conference playoff berth.

Pat Riley, in his first game back from knee and hip surgery as coach of the Heat, said Miami must adapt to the absence of Wade until the final days of the regular season, expecting big play from Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning.

"We can do some different things. 'Zo' can still play down inside," Riley said.

Wade, taken from the court in a wheelchair, remained in hospital overnight and did not accompany the Heat to Dallas for Thursday's rematch of last year's NBA Finals against the Mavericks.

So far this season, the Heat's record without Wade is 1-6. That includes many games where star center O'Neal has been absent with verious injuries.

But the health of "Shaq" will now be vital if the Heat is to have any hope of making a title defense in the playoffs.

After Dallas, the Heat must face the East's three top clubs - Detroit, Washington and LeBron James-led Cleveland, in the next four games.

If the Heat dont go to the playoffs this year, are they the first defending champion ever not to play in the playoffs?

Ouch. Hope it's not as bad as it looks, and he's back and healthy for the playoffs. I want a rematch, and I don't want a repeat of '05 with all the Heat fans whining how "we would have won the ECFs if Wade was healthy."

It's just a damn game; wishing injury on someone, or celerating when they do get hurt, is just shitty and weak. But there's nothing wrong with finding some humor in it (or with wishing heartbreak on the H3ats F@ns).

No, if it was just dislocated he would be out 0 days.
He likely tore ligaments which need time to heal.
