Thanks, general. Obama said it wasn't a completely blind trust, and he said there was some money designated for speculative investments. And couldn't a financial planner with discretion do something like that on his own with a few thousand dollars in a trust anyway? It's hilarious that a financial planner didn't understand that. Thank God my money isn't with you.

Sorry general, I accidentally deleted my post instead of editing it. Your lame attempt at an insult doesn't change the fact that you're the most ignorant financial planner ever. I'm doing quote well though, thank you for your interest.

obama gives money to broker and tells him invest speculatively... of the thousands of speculative investments out there, obama just happens to lobby for stuff that will help his investment... and you think this is a coincidence??? you're a fucking idiot or just full of shit..

:lol You don't even know the meaning of the word "lobby" do you, general?

And yeah, he really helped himself losing $13,000. Diabolical!

The funniest thing about it is that it looks like none of this activity, even if it was all under the the explicit direction of Obama, is illegal.

If it's such a big deal, shouldn't there be a law?

Hastert did the same thing, bought property near a new major road he was instrumental in getting federally approved and/or financed.

This is part of the rigging of $America that farts in the face of "free markets" and "level playing field".

I agree.

Nah, what Libby did was illegal. There is an actual law on the books.

Obama has said he was not involved in selecting the stocks and said they were held through a "quasi-blind trust." His staff has stressed that the trust, which invested only in the two stocks, suffered a net loss of $13,000, even though Obama made a 28 percent profit on his investment in AVI.

Still, the selection of two small-capitalization, speculative stocks is peculiar given the investment instructions provided by the legal document establishing the trust, which Obama named the Freedom Trust.

An attachment to the trust document describes the risk profile as "moderately conservative," with an investor willing to accept "some year-to-year volatility consistent with long-term equity trends." But placing all of the trust's assets in two stocks in small companies is a much more aggressive investment strategy likely to feature more volatile returns than overall stock market trends. Indeed, AVI soared, and SkyTerra surged before plunging.

"There is nothing moderately conservative about that portfolio. It is speculative," said William Reichenstein, a Baylor professor of investments.

Stephen Horan, head of private wealth at the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute, a standard-setting organization for investment professionals, said the risk profile described in the trust document suggests an emphasis on large-capitalization stocks.

"That tells me you're going to have substantial exposure to blue-chip, large-capitalization stocks. That's how you capture the moderately conservative part of that," Horan said.

The stock selection is more consistent with the after-the-fact explanation that Obama offered when he spoke to reporters this week: that he wanted to make "aggressive" investments with his $100,000.

The purchase of the stocks, in February 2005, also came months before establishment of the trust, on May 31, 2005.

Campaign spokesman Bill Burton said Obama was "in the process" of establishing the trust when he instructed a broker to begin purchasing stocks with the money he had set aside.

That explanation raises questions about why Obama rushed ahead with stock purchases rather than waiting to establish the trust, since the trust's purpose was to remove potential for an appearance of a conflict of interest in choosing investments.

and btw, chump, if you had ever opened a brokerage account before you would know that risk tolerance is stated in a client profile form. the broker could've made trades as he saw fit, but according to the profile of the client stated in the app.

Thanks for agreeing with me, although I didn't need the help.

And again, get back to me when something happened that was actually illegal. Even if Obama was sitting over his broker's shoulder telling him what to do after meeting with the CEOs of those companies and "lobbying" for them on the Senate floor, no law would have been broken.

Thanks again.

Let's see, a biotech company is trying to develope a vaccine for avian flu.

Gee, has there been some kind of problem regarding avian flu in the entire worlds poultry industry, or did Obama make the whole thing up? Speculative or need?

The only thing speculative is whether this company can be successful in developing a vaccine. Too bad Obama had to dump and lose money before finding out.

Avian flu was not a problem before Obama brought it up, says the repub idiots.

You felt sorry for the Master Baiter? The guy that spends his moderatorship trolling this forum trying to piss people off?

You're a bigger man than I. I just wish I'd quoted your post before you deleted it. It was spot on.
