Along with LeBron James.... Bad week for ducks. :duck :lol

Lebron turned it up because some people were saying things like he was letting his stats slip down or something like that. Manu turned it up because he knows its go time.

Earlier this season...
Trade Ginobili!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dude hasn't done **** this year. He had one flash and now he's out. Dude is not an allstar. He belongs on the Grant Hill poster child list.
When are you all going to quit wacking off to this guy and see the light?
Dude is the reason why the Spurs lose and the exact reason why they didn't win last year.
Begone!

Manu's excellence is noted in his efficiency.... a fact which must have been considered in the voting.... since of course his MPG average was way lower than the respective averages of the other Western Conference candidates on that list.

Go!
I give up.
I scoured lists from past years (see Patricia Bender's outstanding resources) and examined box scores, but couldn't find an answer. I thought it might have been Ben Gordon at the end of last season, but he started each game that week. I thought it might have been Lucious Harris in December of 02, but he started all 4 of the Nets' games that week. Mostly, the past winners appeared to be guys who've started for years -- or who were obviously starting when they won (Michael Finley, for example). I'm sure it's happened in the not-too-distant past, but I don't really have the time to find an answer and don't know it off the top of my head (I realize how shameful that admission really is).

I'm gonna say Mike Miller...last year.
I know he had a couple of 40 point games and triple doubles off the bench last year...but I never pay any attention to POW Winners.
Stackhouse might be a good choice...
NVE when he was with the Mavs might also be a good choice.

Didn't Jordan move to the bench at some point during his final season?
It's possible that the last guy to do it was Jordan..since he won POW in his last year.
I am pretty sure he moved to the bench at some point, and then moved himself back off of it lol.

Move Manu to the bench and he gets POTW in addition to bumping up his shooting percentages as well as his assist and scoring produciton. Hell, he's in the running for a year-end honor now. Will the CoM congregation want Manu to give the Sixth Man Award back because it's beneath him?

Good question. If he doesn't miss any more games, it looks like he'll have played 41 games from the bench while starting 36 games. All he has to do is play 37 games from the bench if you choose to believe wikipedia. Haven't bothered to look elsewhere.

Interesting question. I think this is a weird situation. If he continues coming off the bench, there can't be any argument against a sixth man award consideration. And yet Brent Barry calls himself "window dressing" for Manu. I don't know any other way to put it than Manu would not be your traditional sixth man award winner.

I think he will get alot of attention since the current streak is roughly coinciding with his coming from the bench and the resulting boost in his stats. I would guess many sportswriters will connect the dots accordingly.

Hasn't Gordon come off the bench the entire year? I'd think he'd be tough to beat but I really haven't been paying that much attention to the 6th man competition.

No, Gordon has started over 1/2 the games he's played in.
The leading candidates for 6th man are Manu, Barbosa and David Lee.
