NEW YORK, March 12, 2007 – The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, March 5 through Sunday, March 11.
James averaged an NBA-high 32.8 points in helping guide Cleveland to a 4-0 record. He netted a double-double with 32 points and 12 rebounds in a 91-85 win over Houston on March 5 and scored a season-high 41 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, in a 101-97 overtime win at Detroit on March 7.
Ginobili, who has come off the bench in each game during the Spurs’ current 12-game winning streak, averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals in helping San Antonio to a 4-0 week. He tallied 23 points, four rebounds and thee assists in a 99-94 win at Portland on March 6 and scored 26 points to go with five rebounds, four steals and three assists in a 100-93 win at Sacramento on March 8.
Here is a closer look at the week for James and Ginobili:
LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
March 5 vs. Houston: Registered a double-double with 32 points and 12 rebounds along with eight assists in 91-85 win over the Rockets.

Manu Ginobili, San Antonio Spurs
March 5 at L.A. Clippers: Scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four assists in a 88-74 win over the Clippers.
March 6 at Portland: Posted 23 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 99-94 win over the Trail Blazers.
March 8 at Sacramento: Registered 26 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists in a 100-93 win over the Kings.
March 10 vs. New Jersey: Tallied 12 points, four assists and three rebounds in a 93-77 win over the Nets.
Other nominees for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta’s Josh Smith, Detroit’s Chris Webber, Houston’s Tracy McGrady, Miami’s Eddie Jones and Shaquille O’Neal, Philadelphia’s Andre Iguodala and Utah’s Deron Williams.
Props to Manu.
Manu deserved it.
On another note, Lebron seems to have turned it up a notch
Aaiiii, Manu!
(que ustedes pongan atencion, hay vienen los Spurs con Manu en frente, escondensen!)
Lebron turned it up because some people were saying things like he was letting his stats slip down or something like that. Manu turned it up because he knows its go time.

Manu's excellence is noted in his efficiency.... a fact which must have been considered in the voting.... since of course his MPG average was way lower than the respective averages of the other Western Conference candidates on that list.
WOW very unexpected. Good job manu
I had a feeling he was going to get one of those type of honors. Congrats to him
Someone name the last bench player to win POTW honors.
Go!
Ben gordon
The week he won this year, he started.
Ill guess someone like Derrick Mckey.
Or Rickey Pierce.
I give up.
I scoured lists from past years (see Patricia Bender's outstanding resources) and examined box scores, but couldn't find an answer. I thought it might have been Ben Gordon at the end of last season, but he started each game that week. I thought it might have been Lucious Harris in December of 02, but he started all 4 of the Nets' games that week. Mostly, the past winners appeared to be guys who've started for years -- or who were obviously starting when they won (Michael Finley, for example). I'm sure it's happened in the not-too-distant past, but I don't really have the time to find an answer and don't know it off the top of my head (I realize how shameful that admission really is).
I'm gonna say Mike Miller...last year.
I know he had a couple of 40 point games and triple doubles off the bench last year...but I never pay any attention to POW Winners.
Stackhouse might be a good choice...
NVE when he was with the Mavs might also be a good choice.
, I don't either, that's why I asked.I'm sure it's happened in the not-too-distant past, but I don't really have the time to find an answer and don't know it off the top of my head (I realize how shameful that admission really is).![]()

I think that's it right there...good call on Lucious Harris, unless he was starting due to injury.
Wait a second...
Didn't Jordan move to the bench at some point during his final season?
It's possible that the last guy to do it was Jordan..since he won POW in his last year.
I am pretty sure he moved to the bench at some point, and then moved himself back off of it lol.
Someone already said that Harris started all the games during that week.
I already looked at that one, since it jumped off the page at me, too. Like I noted above, though, Harris started all 4 of the Nets' games that week.
It's good to know that nobody is reading my posts, though.
Well I looked over all the lists posted by FWDT, and unless it was Jordan(who won POW twice in his final season) or Harris I don't see who else it could have been.
I did look it up and Jordan came off the bench for 15 games during his final season...but I don't know which ones they were.
