He's obviously passed more than 11 times in 5 games... remember, he's also passing it to Smush Parker, Shammond Williams, and Kwame Brown - they count for at least 3 negative assists per game.

Lastly, he has hogged the ball during this streak, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

P.S. I do think it's ironic that Kobe called out Arenas before... haha, I hope he realizes how little a conscience he had during this streak.

His TEAM had lost seven straight games. And he went on a personal mission (because of the losing streak and because he was pissed off at the league because of the suspensions) to get them winning.

He did that, by carrying the team on his back and shooting a lot and shooting well (50%+) in five games straight.

It's not the formula for success over a long season because eventually he'll have really off nights and because it doesn't breed team basketball which is necessary in a 7 game series in the postseason.

But his mission did what was right for the TEAM right now and that was get them back on the winning track.

So what you and some other people might see as him being a selfish ballhog, did in fact do something very good for his team.

Ok.....I give. I understand why he did what he had to do. Im just saying everyone has made a huge deal out of it. If Arenas got the green light......and didnt pass the ball and took those same shots, Im sure he would have had a 50pt game streak also.

No, he probably wouldn't have. Because in a five game streak, Arenas would have shot under 40% in 3 of the games. :lol Arenas is a much crappier shooter than Kobe.

Noone can do what Kobe does...........

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/23/AR2006122300783.html
"Maybe Kobe would say that was luck. It's luck when you score 30 or 40, but luck can't get you 50 or 60. Every game before the game, I make 10 threes from 10 spots on the court. That's 100 threes."
WTF? Are you trying to prove my point for me? And that article was 3 months old, what the fuck does that have to do with anything? Bryant shoots a higher % than Arenas in every catagory while averaging about the same number a shots per game. Arenas also had a stretch this year where he he took over 30 shots in 3 out of 4 games, and guess how many times he hit 50? 0. And dont tell me to shut the fuck up when nothing put but shit pours out of your mouth. And get your stats straight before you go rambling, 11 assists in 5 games. Everyone on this thread has made you look stupid, deal with it

"It went from talking about this week to talking about the playoffs." You seem to forget how you've taken this week to mean the Lakers are about to win an incredible amount of titles and then I just put it in a little perspective for you. I guess this 5-game win streak means the Lakers are close to winning the Pacific Division right? Oh, wait... I forgot... now you're going to trot out your "so many of our [role] players were injured this year, so our record sucks" bullshit.

Make up your mind... is your team good because of Kobe or because of the other guys? (I've always said Lamar Odom is the most integral part of your team.) Funny how I'm called partisan when you only like "role players" if they're wearing Purple & Gold, but not if they're called Shane or have spots on the Olympic team. When Kobe joins the team, I hope you scoff at him representing his country, too. Be sure to call me when Rudy Gay gets an invite, as well.
:drunk Are you really this dumb?? I mean I spelled everything out for you. All you do is assume shit and put words into peoples mouths. And then you can't even recognize where you went from talking about his streak to talking about the playoffs. Not even Nashfan was this bad.

Assumption

Oh, wait... I forgot... now you're going to trot out your "so many of our [role] players were injured this year, so our record sucks" bullshit.
I really don't give a shit what you think. Worry about your own soft ass team and the fact that they are due for an ugly playoff exit. The fact that you dismiss the Laker injuries this year, just shows how much of a Hater you are.

As for the Houston trade, I already spelled it out for you. I'm actually getting tired of this, but I'll spell it out for you one more time.

Are you gonna argue that McGrady isn't an injury concern? Are you trying to say that Houston has the same needs as the Olympic team? Are you now arguing that Kobe and Battier will play the same role on the Olympic Team and that they are equal in value? What are you trying to say? What they need is a third consistent scorer and if McGrady gets hurt they're gonna need a second consistent scorer. Those are two roles your boyfriend Battier is not gonna fill. And you're gonna be eating crow when Rudy Gay does end up filling that role. Not to mention there were a whole shitload of good PG's out there on the draft board.

This is my favorite one though.

Make up your mind... is your team good because of Kobe or because of the other guys? (I've always said Lamar Odom is the most integral part of your team.)
What they can't be good because of Kobe and his teammates... :wtf
:lmao Pure Hater talk. I've never known any player to win a ring by himself. And nobody is saying Kobe can. So keep your stupid ass assumptions to yourself.

As for Lamar he is very integral to this team. Very versatile, by far our best rebounder, and a pretty good defender. But we know Suns fans know how good he is first hand. But there are many players that can fill the role Lamar brings to this team. As for Kobe nobody is as good as him. And that's what you can't stand. :lol

So once again I thank the Haters for making Kobe work harder than anybody else in the League. As long as you keep on hating I can look forward to another decade of the Lakeshow contending for a title every year.

And book this again. The Lakeshow will win another ring before the Suns win their first one. :elephant

"Lakeshonw contending for a title every year." Classic signs of delusional thinking.

Thanks for calling my team "soft ass" (Assumption)

Saying anyone can fill Lamar Odom's role (Assumption)

That Kobe and Battier will have the same role on the team (Assumption)... although, last time I checked their roles would be "Olympic athlete."

No one is as good as Kobe (Assumption)

"Lakers' injuries were more important than any other team's this year... any of you who don't think so, you're just Haters." (Wah, wah, wah, wah).

HAHAHAHAH - a "healthy" Lakers team that needs four straight 50 point games and a strong 4th quarter performance with 43 to get past Portland by 5, Minnesota by 7, Memphis by 2, NO/OKC by 6 (after blowing an 18 point lead), and Golden State by 2.

HAHAHAH - Championship basketball at its best... cornerstones of a new era in Laker dominance!! Oh, man - how do you write this stuff?

"Taking it to us in the playoffs?" Ok, Bennett Salvatore, the jig is up... we all know it's you.

They're not healthy...odom and walton are most recenlty back...not yet 100% Kwame is playing on 1 leg. Mo Evans and Radman are out...their best bench players. Plus cook just came back after being out 5-6 games. Yes, when they are healthy they can beat anyone in the league. It's chemistry that will let them prevail.

I have more important things to worry about (i.e. Billy Gillespie's future) rather than the #6 team in the West. Remind me where you were in the mid-90s before Jerry Buss bought another championship? When the Lakers were going about 39-43 every year... when Magic had to come back looking fat and out of shape, just to get people in the stands.

What's in the past is in the past - enjoy your titles, but remember the bullshit you spewed on this board as I will reference it later.

Yeah, ok - I'm a bandwagoner. Sure, pal. Nice job googling a few of those players off the roster that got swept by the Spurs in '99.

Time to start the "Will Purple & Gold ever stop making stupid posts?" thread - strech, get on it.

And? What's that have to do with anything? Jordan kept shooting at or near 50% most his career. He started falling of at the end for sure but in his prime he was a 50% shooter.

Different Era.

And Kobe shoots more 3 pointers. The difference between 46% and 50% isn't that big a deal when it comes down to it. It's the difference of maybe 1-2 missed 3pointers/half court prayer shots. And considering Kobe's supporting cast is MUCH inferior to what Jordan had and the fact we are now in the zone era, where points and FG% is down for everybody, it makes sense.

I just think this infatuation with 50% has really gone overboard in recent years.

ManuTim_best of Fwiendz
03-27-2007, 04:23 AM
Doesn't Steve Nash shoot 3's and still shoot at 50 percent?

and it's not really infatuation with 50 percent. It's about shot selection, picking when to score and when to keep the optimal play in mind.

Wade and Lebron have 50 percent shooting because they're less "selfish " so to speak.

Kobe's 46, 47 percent shooting isn't something to sneeze at, since he's a shooting guard. That's very good.

But when you're comparing players of the same calibre. Then it comes into play. It has nothing to do with infatuation but using the stats to extrapolate (for lack of a better word) how the player performs on the court, who's on par with that same scoring approach. Kobe has had some bad shooting games in his career where he didn't need to force up shots. And like you said, he shoots more threes, but there's a reason why his FG percentage isn't as good as Jordan's . And it's something you have to consider and look into.
