Thats my favorite team. They made big moves this off-season signing TE Randy McMichael, WR Drew Bennett, and LB Chris Draft. They also traded for DE James Hall. Hopefully in the draft they can get Amobi Okoye, DT, Pat Willis, LB, or Alan Branch, DT. If they get 1 of these 3 and have a solid all around draft, watch out.

They need Branch or akoye more than anything.

if they can pull off the trade for Kris Jenkis, and draft an Okoye, this team will win the division next year.

Focus on getting pass rushers, and getting a starting nosetackle that can help stuff the run.

If they can stop the run, the team would pick up 5 more wins..

Kris Jenkins....plus Okoye, or even a Branch, if he stops looking so shitty, and the Rams are probaly unstoppable. unless they'd rather have another CB, which id think is a good move. If they take Jenkins and a DT, I look for them to go from 31st in run d to at least top 15.

Listen Scotty, I know your still upset about Fiona and me doing it in the van every Sunday, she says she's at church but she dosen't go and she's on her knee's and now you know, but the 49ers, come on. They got Clements and Tully Banta-Cain. Thats a over-rated but decent corner, and a back-up LB. The Rams have Will Witherspoon who was adjusting to a new position last year, and a Pro Bowl snub in Leonard Little. He's a pass rushing machine. The Rams offense is now quite possibly the best in league, and if they get Kris Jenkins, then where is Frank Gore gonna run? Not up the middle. He can't just settle for being a east west runner, because the Rams have a fast D, which=a loss of yards. What now Scotty?

Oh yeah, who would you rather have a young Alex Smith, who can't grip a football, or a mature, but not old, Pro Bowler in Marc Bulger?

Both teams are going to be solid, but not yet contenders. I still don't know if I like Alex Smith. He doesn't have much arm, but he's got good composure and makes good decisions. The Rams offense should be great. SJax is a complete monster and their receivers are as good as ever. But that is a bad defense. If they can somehow get Jenkins they may make a move towards the playoffs, but their Corners still suck.

Couldnt be more wrong, guy is a great qb, guy has been great since 04. And I think this team after finishing 8-8 last year could definately win the division. The 9ers or going to be way overhyped this year.

Fantastic reference... but you are basically telling me that Kris Jenkins, who had a decent year coming back from back-to-back injuries, but still not decent enough for a team who was only so-so against the run to want him back... you are telling me this guy is going to fix your pathetic run D (second to last in the league)? Get real.

Then we have T Fark over here saying that Kris Jenkins and some rookie CB are going to turn your pathetic D into a top-5, unstoppable monster? Reality check time, fellas.

By the way, I could give a shit about the Rams or the Niners, but I think the Niners have more potential to cause havoc in that division, but I see 9-7 as the upper limit for both this year.

djohn14
04-12-2007, 10:25 AM
Now I'm not saying Jenkins would fix it, but he would really make it better. If the Rams had a sure tackling team then he would fix it. If he started to stuff someone up the middle, and they had to run outside, it's still not a sure thing the Rams would tackle them. However, I do expect them to be better.

I still don't see them doing anything with Bulger at QB. Anybody that's got Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt to throw to is gonna look halfway decent. And their biggest problem last year was that they didn't run it with Jackson nearly enough...unless they scale Bulger's role way back and turn him into a handoff artist, I really don't like the Rams chances.

First off, Bruce is in his 13th or 14th year. Yea, he is a great route runner, but you have to have a qb to make those good throws. And bro, Jackson was third in the league in rushing attempts and 5th in rushing yards, how much more you want the Rams to give it to him? All I know is, that offense is going to be one of the better offenses we have seen in awhile next year, they just got to get that d fixed. If they do, like i said, its not stupid to think after they won 8 games last year they cant win two more this year. Especially since last year they lost 2 games to the Seahawks on last second fgs, hell they probably should have gotten in last year.

marc bulger can put up all the pretty looking numbers he wants and go to all the Pro Bowls in the world, his team hasn't won dick with him at QB and they never will. The guy's not a leader or a winner. I'd take about 15 or 20 QB's over Bulger.

Bottom line is that Bulger is an accurate QB who won't through it up for grabs. They have good O-tackles in Orlando Pace and Alex Barron, it's just the interior. They have good potential as well. Wrong again. The only game were he had under 18 carries in a loss was against the Panthers, other than that, he had over 18 carries in every game, and that doesnt include his receptions in those games, wich were very high. If they gave him the ball much more than they do, his career wouldnt last very long. Your starting to make me think that you dont watch any football with your bashing of Bulger and claim that Jackson didnt get the ball enough.

way to spin the numbers...

Jackson's attempts when the Rams win - 22,24,22,23,23,31,33,25
Jackson's attempts when the Rams lose - 22,20,18,19,18,7,21,18

Bulger's pass attempts when the Rams win - 34,31,42,28,34,22,38,30
Bulger's pass attempts when the Rams lose - 34,39,40,42,40,34,45,55

if you can't see the obvious discrepancies in there, you're fucking blind. more carries for Jackson + less passes by Bulger generally = Rams win. the other way around is almost always a loss.

why don't you tell me what Bulger has accomplished in the NFL that makes you think he's so fucking great? His stellar playoff history? for all those pretty ass regular season numbers, he hasn't exactly torn it up in the playoffs in the few times he's actually gotten there.

Do you know why this is little boy? It's because when the Rams don't hand it off, It's pretty easy to step back and defend the pass because you know whats gonna happen. Once again, he was in the top five in the league in least amount of interceptions. Bottom line for the eight time, he has to be good if the D knows he's gonna pass and still can't pick it off. Also, I'm serious about the life savings.

How about this then, Jacksons total touches in those losses

24, 27, 21, 32, 24, 14, 30, 28, a lot of fucking touches. Regardless of what you think about Bulger, they cant give the ball to Jackson 30 times every game with no backup, he wouldnt last the season. I think your looking past his 90 receptions last year, guy almost had 1000 yards recieving, I dont see how you dont understand that you cant just give the ball 30 to 40 times a game to one back. He was 3rd in the league in carries, how do you not understand that there wasnt much more the guy could do?
And as far as you Bulger question, why dont you tell me what he hasnt done?
Guy was top 10 in qb rating, percentage, ypa, top 5 in tds, yards, and in least amout of ints thrown. Again, how much better do you want him to play? Maybe if he hadnt gotten sacked second most times in the league (49), he could have put up even better numbers than the great numbers he already put up. And you realize that their are things called matchups right? You really think the Rams would run the ball as much against Chicago, SanDiego, Carolina and Seattle as they would against say, Oakland or Washington. Matchups are better passing against those teams.

mardigan
04-13-2007, 12:07 PM
And by the way, he is 1 and 1 in his playoff games with a 99 qb rating, 4 to 2 tds to ints, and over 600 yards, pretty good playoff stats. If the Rams could get a line and keep him from getting sacked, his numbers would be even better.

Shit. That's what he hasn't done.

been to the playoffs twice with a 1-2 record. also had his fair share of .500 or less seasons. what's the point of having such a great TD-to-INT ratio when you can't LEAD YOUR TEAM TO VICTORY more than 8 times a year?

plus, he's a product of the Mike Martz system, which is a ridiculously flawed offensive system comparable to what Don Nelson does in basketball. Sure, it won a Super Bowl, but with one of top 5 greatest RB's ever. I'm sure Don Nelson could have won a title with Michael Jordan.

Well they didnt run Martz sytem last year, so thats out. Second, that Panthers game was against a team that got to the SB and almost won, and Bulger was in his first year starting, pretty much a rookie, and not many teams do well against a great defense when you have to throw the ball damn near 50 times, and you dont have a productive back, only reason they got in the playoffs that year was Bulger. I hate to say it, but this is a SPurdynasty argument similair to the Dwight Howard one. Its also pretty good for a former 6th round pick who's team was 4th in the league in passing offense. And Mono, I will give you that the Rams need to run the ball more, they were around 22nd in the league in rushing attempts last year. Is there any other game where intangibles play a bigger role than in football? Why is the all-mysterious "it" such a huge factor in football? Tom Brady has "it", Peyton Manning has "it", Vince Young has "it". And Marc Bulger doesn't. Again, I show that he rarely makes the playoffs, and when there, he has a losing record.....and you want MORE proof than that?

Like I said before, pretty numbers don't mean shit in football. Larry Johnson can rack up all the 150+ yard games he wants to, I'd still take about 15 other RB's before I take him. Why? Because other RB's are gonna get me the yards when it MATTERS. Same with Bulger. I don't trust for one second that Bulger is gonna make the perfect throw when it matters.

In pure ability to throw a football, Marc Bulger probably more talented than Brady. But one guy's got three rings and the other one doesn't. And throw the "bill belichick" bullshit out the window...Brady's still the one running the two minute drill at the end of the Super Bowl. One guy's leading his team to the AFC Championship game even though his offense is vastly inferior and his defense is old and slow, and the other guy is sitting at home with a HOF WR on side, a Top-5 receiver on the other, and a Pro Bowl RB lining up behind him as his team goes 8-8.

Bulger's not a winner, plain and simple. And Martz isn't the head coach, but if you don't think that pass-happy offense isn't still using the Martz philosophies, you're the one that's lacking in football acumen.

So take all your stats and arm strength and accuracy and shove em all up your ass. If winning is the bottom line, Bulger doesn't match up to the top QB's in the league by a LONG SHOT.

First of all you dont have to start with the shove it up your ass stuff just because your wrong. Second of all, if your really trying to tell me that the Pats defense isnt as good as the Rams, you dont know anything about football. Thirdly, you say throw all of the Bellichek stuff out the window, but not the Martz. So its okay to be a product of the system when it helps your argument. And thats great you post in other forums, dont act like your some fucking genius come in every once and a while to drop your knowledge on the state of the Rams. And take over the forum then with your vast knowledge, I dont give a fuck, I only post in here to try and bring info to the few NFL fans that are here. But you dont know shit, and the other forums you post in must be a bunch of mislead fans like you with no knowledge of what the fuck they are talking about. And you ask who likes Bulger that much? Not me, dont even really like him as a player, but I realize that he is damn good. Your arguments arent much better than a Spurdynasty argument. Dwight Howard is a fluke player because I said so=Marc Bulger sucks because I say so. I used to think you were pretty cool, but you got to get all pissy when someone disagrees with you, so fuck it

LOL now you're just flip-flopping dude. first he's good, then you "don't even really like him as a player" then immediately after that he's "damn good"....so what the fuck is it? is he good or not? i've given plenty of proof (mainly the ultimate truth - WINS) if you don't want to look at it reasonably then go ahead and take 4000 yards a year packaged with a measly 8 fuckin' wins. good work. thank God you're not an NFL GM or you'd be job hunting on an annual basis.

When have I ever flip flopped? I said he was a great qb, and followed it up by saying he was really good, same shit to me. And if I dont like a player, it doesnt mean he isnt good. I cant stand Donovon McNabb, doesnt mean he sucks. Yea, great proof with your wins argument, guess Carson Palmer sucks too then. And I guess you'll never get it though your head that wins and losses isnt a direct correlation to how good a qb is, ask the Bears. You just like to ignore all the times when you constantly get called out for being wrong about things. 50 quarterbacks over Marino, right. Grossman is a good qb when he leads his team to the SB but Marinos not. I dont know why your surprised that Im arguing with you. I think most people would say that Marino, Bulger, Larry Johnson and Palmer are all good players. So you should have expected someone to argue with you. I wouldnt have thought your opinions were stupid if you had just stated some facts why you thought he sucked, but all you said was record is everything so I guess this argument is done. But I'm sure Marc Bulger will kick ass for your fantasy football team.

If only fantasy football was real football. Then maybe Larry Johnson would amount to something more meaningful than empty yards. BTW look for Larry Johnson to never run for 1000 yards ever again in his career. you heard it first from me.

I really dont care, you can take Groosman over Buger and Palmer, I guess it just shows how much smarter you are than me.I never said I would take Fouts or Marino over Aikman, Im a Boys fan for shits sake. My point on Marino is that you say that Rex leads his team to a SB so that makes him ok, but Marino does it and he sucks overated blah blah. Bottom line is that you obviously just dont know much about football if you think Larry Johnson yards were empty stats. They wouldnt even have gotten into the playoffs without his "empty yards". The Rams wouldnt have won 8 games without Bulgers "empty yards". And dont worry, Ill bump this thread myself occasionally so everyone can see some of the best future gm'ing skills in all of the footbal universe

Talk of also drafting Karraker, a 4.3 40 Dlineman whos good against the run and improving on pass rush.

Karraker is the shit. 6-6, about 300 pounds, 4.8 40. Guy can play all over the line and has enough speed to get to the qb. Word is the 9ers love him as well, so Im not sure if he will be there, but if not him, Okoye or Anderson or Branch will be there. All of them could help that d-line

Chiefs | D. Hall trade update
Wed, 25 Apr 2007 09:19:11 -0700

Updating a previous item, Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams have swapped third-round picks in this year's NFL Draft as part of the trade which sent WR Dante' Hall to the Rams Wednesday, April 25.

So bad that their KR actually had a better average than Hall last year? He's lost a step and is definitely on the downside of his career. Why not draft a speed demon with that 5th round pick or later? Two of the better return men of recent years, Drummond and Hall, both went undrafted. McGee was a 4th rounder, Morton a 5th, Michael Lewis went undrafted as well, etc.

They could have found a younger, cheaper return specialist(Hall scheduled to make $3.5 million over the next two years) and opted for Hall because of his name.

And I'd cry in a very, very bad way, mardy.

DisgruntledLionFan#54,927

It's not that I don't like Quinn, it's just that I don't think he is that much better than guys like Stanton, Beck, Kolb and Edwards. Plus, the pressure on QBs here in Detroit is enormous. It's not a good fit for someone who up to this point has shown he isn't very good under pressure. To LionFan, he is Brady Harrington and that's not good.

Ideally, the rumored ATL would push through and they'd take Landry/Willis at #8 and then Spencer/Johnson with one of their 2nds and one of those QBs with the other 2nd.

Realistically, they'll probably take Adam/Thomas at #2. Honestly, I really have no clue but this team cannot afford to draft a QB in the 1st round and then sit him for a year or two. Fans would revolt. Again.

I wouldn't mind CJ but dealing him equates to more value for the organization.

And there are people out there who think passing on/trading CJ would be almost as big a mistake as selecting BMW.

And you're talking about John Clayton, the same guy who said Trent Green is the key to the draft.

Are you talking about Willie Ponder? He only played like 3 games, and can only return kicks. So instead of having a PR and a KR, they fill that need with one player. If your talking about Kevin Curtis, he is no longer with the team, and had a fumble problem.

They might not have the best draft so far, but the got some good picks. Carriker will contribute right away. Jonathon Wade (CB, Tennessee) will be given plenty of time to develope into a good player, and their 2nd round pick FB/HB Brian Leonard (Rutgers) will combine with Steven Jackson to form a great 1-2 punch. He is projected to be a Mike Alstott type player, but coach Linehan says he won't be an everydown full back because he'll be a third down RB.

I see your points, but let me attempt to explain a few of them. I see your point about the RB over the great center thing. Brian Leonard will be great, but the only answer I have to this is the fact that today they got lucky and got a good center for Clemson in Dustin Fry. Carriker will help now, and the project corner could turn out to be a great pick down the road. There not so stacked at corner either. In the 5th Rd., they also got a possible steal in DT Clifton Ryan of Michigan St. In the 7th round they got a good run stuffer in Keith Jackson of Arkansas. But what can I say, you can't expect to much from the 2nd day picks. All in all, it had It's bright spots and It's not so bright spots. I'm still a little confused that they didn't gain any LB help. They have a good starting 3 in Tinaisamoa, Draft, and Witherspoon, but where is the depth? I still think that we are the team to beat in the NFC West.
