Artest and Wallace started it, and Stephen Jackson was trying to fight everyone. A fan threw a beer on Artest and he charged the fan

So I lost all the actual fight scenes. The damn thing is supposed to record everything I was watching when I hit record...not just from that moment. Thats half the reason it has the damn buffer.

Jim, you don't EVER go after fans for throwing a beer. That's not even self defense, as you can't be hurt by beer. The bottles are even fucking plastic now. Stern will throw the entire library at Artest this time. What a dumbfuck.
Detroit should take away the tickets of the fans involved, but they fans could also very well press charges. This was assault, not self defense.

Totally classless behavior by the Piston fans. Completely inexcusable. I can maybe understand Artest seeing red and losing it for a while but Jackson acted like a complete moron. He'll get the longest suspension by far. I'm anxious to see how the league is going to deal with this. This reflects very poorly on the league's image and I think Stern will crack down hard. AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Stephen Jackson made quite a first impression on the overheated rivalry between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons.
Jackson delivered knockout punches of all kinds as the Pacers brawled with fans in the stands and on the court after a 97-82 victory over the Pistons, a game that was called with 45 seconds to play.
In one of the craziest melees in NBA history, Jackson, Ron Artest and Jermaine O'Neal all delivered haymakers to unruly Pistons fans, who showed the worst side of their behavior by throwing everything from plastic bottles to chairs at members of the Pacers.
The Pacers fought back - literally. Several went into the stands to accost fans who had thrown things. Jackson climbed into the seats and landed a roundhouse right that floored a fan who had thrown a plastic beer bottle at Artest, hitting him in the face.
Fans continued to throw things and verbally accost members of the Pacers. Several came onto the court and one took a fighting stance against Artest, who dropped him with a punch. O'Neal ran over and floored another fan with a righthanded blow.
Fighting with each other minutes earlier, the Pacers and Pistons quickly teamed up to fight off the fans.
Referees called the game, which forced the Pacers to make their way through a gauntlet of angry fans who continued to throw objects despite pleas from Pistons coach Larry Brown. Players and team officials were showered with beer, soda and popcorn.
Acquired in the offseason, Jackson is new to this rivalry, which peaked with the Pistons defeating the Pacers in six physical games in last season's Eastern Conference finals.
He scored 13 points, including a dagger 3-pointer and dunk less than 40 seconds apart that ended a rally by the Pistons and gave the Pacers a 93-79 lead with 3:52 to play.

I probably did deserve beer on me. I was being pretty obnoxious because I had had too much to drink.
But it's just a liquid. Get over it. If a fan actually harmed him, then I would understand. They poured a beverage on him. Boo hoo.
A suspension for Artest would hurt his team. How is he being a "man" by attacking a fan who, as thispego pointed out, didn't even look like the fan who threw beer on him?

Big Ben was out of line. Artest delivered a fairly soft foul. Ben put his hand around his neck and pushed him. It was like a half-choke.

It just means you have no self control. The most important test of someones ability to handle themselves and maintain control is in the heat of the moment. Yeah like I said...the guy Artest swings at and the guy O'Neal hits is not the same person. One is a fan that came on the court and tried to fight Artest...the other one was the towel boy that was trying to throw the fan off the court.

Then at the end someone in a brown suit comes in and lays one on the other guy in the Piston's jersey
Yeah, that's who I thought was Mike Brown.

There were two fans sucker punching, one a big black guy in a suit and a guy in white baseball hat.
Right, I agree....... the two guys that got the biggest ass kicking were the fan wearing glasses and the ball boy...neither of whom were throwing punches.
That big black guy wasn't the towelboy either...the towelboy looks mexican it's not the same guy that was in the stands.

Yes, this is what I saw also. Then at the end someone in a brown suit comes in and lays one on the other guy in the Piston's jersey who got inbetween Artest and the guy who squared off on him.
And the guy in the Piston's jersey is the one O'Neal laid the fuck out too.

The fan that started it was wearing a blue jersey and a baseball cap...the guy that got cold cocked by O'Neal was wearing an official Pistons jersey...
Yeah. He was the guy wearing the "Wallace" old-school shooting shirt and a beige cap.
He seems to try and pull Artest off the guy in glasses and a black shirt, then proceeds to get one or two shots at Artest's head from behind. Artest knocks him back with an elbow, then somebody comes in and hits the guy again - O'Neal maybe?

Okay... Maybe I'm a bad person for laughing at this... but did anyone see the look on that guy's face right between when he was taunting Artest and when he realized that Artest was coming after HIM?
I hope he's alright, but it was quite amusing.

The guy in the brown suit might be Chuck Person -- not Mike Brown. Chuck Person is in a brown suit ushering Artest out of the tunnel.

Well, this is a black eye on our sport and now a Spur NBA championship will mean a whole lot less because mainstream America will totally hate the NBA and go on and on about how it is full of gangsta thugs(probably true) and the class acts like ou SA team will be thrown into the gutter with the scum.

Yeah that's the guy who threw the beer at Artest...and Artest goes after the wrong guy. Like a dumbass he just goes after any fan he gets first. I think the guy who hits him at the end was Fred Jones..and then some other guy grabs Jones and then punches him a few times.
Okay... Maybe I'm a bad person for laughing at this... but did anyone see the look on that guy's face right between when he was taunting Artest and when he realized that Artest was coming after HIM?

Thats alot of bullshit Jim...if that's the case...then I guess the Red Sox championship means alot less because of that father-son duo that ran out on the field during a White Sox(I think) game and beat one of the White Sox coaches up.
It was quite a mess that's for sure.

Yeah, I think you're right. The first time I saw it live I thought Mike Brown was the one in the brown suit there but I saw another clip where it looked like Mike had a grey suit on.

I don't think it's going to be as serious as you imply... as long as this is an isolated incident.
The Mark Cuban in me even flirts with the possibility that this will create more interest. Particularly for future Pacers/Pistons games. Not that it's for the right reasons... but I don't think the game is in trouble by any stretch.

Are you guys sure it was the guy in the white hat that threw the drink?
I was watching the video and before its thrown...he is standing there with his hands in his pockets..and as Artest charges...he is still standing still with his hands in his pockets.
I never saw him throw it....but I might have missed something in the camera angles switching.

This is just bad for all parties involved. Kori pointed out something at Firehouse tonight.

Artest was wrong for an unneccessary foul that late in the game up by that much, BWallace was wrong for overreacting like he did and the fans who threw things were wayyy wrong for that. I don't blame Artest for going into the stands. Its not like the Rangers-A's game when the pitcher went nutty just because people were saying shit. Throwing things crosses a line and at that point, the player has to defend himself. No one was right in this.

If Indiana's coach is saying he felt he was fighting for his life. You got to believe the players felt that way. And if you feel that way in somebodys elses arena, you'll be swinging at everyone who touches you also.
Anybody who says otherwise hasn't experinced shit and don't know what they are talking about.

Sequ - despite your hate for Rasho, I now got your back anytime
As a player you never go after a fan, any player that does that needs to be suspended, no excuse for that behavoir
As a fan, if you through anything at a player or go onto the court you need to be arrested and banned from any future games
the least that should happen is that Detroit should lose the right to sell alcohol at the games for the rest of the season
as for the so called ball boy, he went on the court and confronted J O'Neal, he wasnt innosent
this is black eye for the NBA, this is America people. this kinda shit happens in the 3rd world

This is stupid..now you are pulling a double standard...you say the Spurs title if they win one...will mean alot less, even though they have nothing to do with what happened in Detroit....but the Red Sox title isn't tarnished in anyway because of what happened with the Rangers even though the Sox had nothing to do with that as well.
