Shortest thread maybe but it had such potential.
I think its painfully obvious that Kobe has been nothing without Shaq and he has done nothing to prove that he's the kind of player that can make his surrounding squad any better. Kobe will never ever win another ring.
He will however be totally happy stockpiling stats which is all he ever really cared about in the first place.
how would u know what he cares about exactly???
besides he and the lakers will beat your shitty ass spurs team on the way the kobe's 4th championship.

And the Spurs couldn't win crap without Duncan. And the Rockets couldn't win crap without Hakeem.
So, you take one of the most dominant players to ever play the game off a team, and it becomes more difficult for that team to win games. Brilliant f'n hypothesis, Red.
Jordan never won anything without Pippen. He needed a top 50 player of all time to ever win anything. Discuss.

However I'd point out that Jordan did it with many different types of teams spanning a decade. Even though Pippen was the constant and really the argument would be Pippen can't win without Jordan not the other way around although I'm willing to catch your drift for the sake of the argument.

Realist. The Lakers are "supposed" to win, anything else is a failure. If the Spurs beat them, it's a huge upset. The Spurs certainly CAN beat the Lakers, but it will not be from the standpoint of the favorites.
Just look at the thread titles to see if Spurs beating the Lakers would be a major upset. I've never seen such doom and gloom in the Duncan Era.

That's not true at all (the bolded part). The first 3 peat team was built around 3 great defenders (MJ, Pip and Grant), dudes who could make wide open 3's and, interchangeable centers and the fact that MJ could score in the clutch. The second 3 peat team was basically the same. Players changed but the "type of team" was basically the same. If anything, the 2nd team was better because they upgraded at PF and had Kukoc who could score off the bench. They lost in 95 when one of the key pieces...a PF who could defend inside and out...was no longer there.
IIRC MJ has never won one playoff series without Pippen. I believe Pippen almost led the Bulls to the ECF without MJ, and he did get to the WCF with the Blazers. Pippen has actually had more playoff success than MJ on his own....granted he has obviously been on better teams. Which gets to the main point...surround Kobe with enough talent and he is good enough to lead a team to a title.

I bet you're a big fan of Hollinger.
In the real scenario with many different factors and not just one, every fan knows Boston teabagged Kobe and Co. last Finals, and could easily do it again this year.
what a homer, "if ANY team beats us its a huge upset."
You're not the defending champs. LA got assfucked in the Finals by forty by the very team you say is the underdog - an underdog on course for 60+ wins again. Don't let these facts get in the way of "allanon's homerism."

The Celtics are underdogs because they are missing KG and his health is questionable. Vegas is giving bettors a +400 return...that's crazy high.
The Spurs are underdogs because the health of Manu and Duncan is questionable. Vegas is giving bettors a +500 return...that's super-duper high.
The Cavs are underdogs because the health of Ben Wallace is questionable and the Cavs were blown out by the Lakers twice. Vegas is giving bettors +200 return, that's also high. Not as high but they are obviously underdogs to the Lakers and would be a major upset to win.
Thus the Lakers are the clear favorites with the only healthy team.

I'm not making up the numbers, it's for real.
Look up the current Vegas lines. KG is seriously hurting. If KG was not hurting, I totally would see your point.
A healthy KG would have made the Celtics favorites in anybody's world...but the key piece to Boston is hurting.
These are the KG-less defending champs and thus their beating the Lakers is very doubtful. If the Lakers were missing Kobe or Pau, they have no chance of winning jack this year.
The same has to be said of Boston...defending champs or not, they are missing their superstar player.
Being the defending Champs can't make up for missing your Main man...it's not a fair fight.
Missing/Injured KG, the defending world-champion Celtics would lose to the Cavs, Lakers and yes, even the Spurs in a seven game series.
