Nope, his teammates were ready to shoot the ball, but Kobe didn't even dare look to pass. Phoenix almost took the lead if not for somehow good enough defense.
It'd be a mistake for any player to think that he needs to be able to shoot the ball in order to contribute. It's also not particularly shocking that Kobe doesn't yet trust his teammates at the end of a must-win game. If they keep it up you'll see him start to pass out of those situations.

Yeah, too bad only one of them deserved to get tossed.

At some point, professional basketball players need to nut the fuck up and make themselves better. Kobe is not responsible for the improvement in those guys tonight.
yup, absolutely. btw, i liked so many of your posts tonight, very on point.

Like your team would know anything about defense.
Whatever.
If Parker and Ginobili were the ones getting hacked all over the floor, you'd see it differently.
I imagine, that you'd also have something to say about a greater than 2 - 1 free throw disparity.

:lmao at that little whiner d'antoni. way to get pissy about smush trying to give the fans their money's worth at the end of the game when you like to play your starters with two minutes left and the team up by fifteen.
anyway, it's nice to see the lakers win with a team effort, odom, kwame, bryant all played very well with some help from the bench. nice win, especially considering that the other games were booooooooooooooooring.
Not a shock - you probably liked it when Griffin dunked on the Suns for no reason last year or when Robert Horry took a 3 after the Rockets already wrapped up the 1995 NBA title against the Magic, or when the Patriots tramped all over the Chargers' logo, or when Tim Thomas blew a kiss to Dirk.

Oh and Shawn Marion trying to be the hero cost the Suns the game... had a chance to pass to a wide open Amare late in the game... down by 2... and tries a floater over Odom and Brown... but he "gets no respect out there."

Okay. The refs fucked your team, even though Amare got bailed out of an obvious charge for what would have been his third foul and Kobe got hacked with no whistle almost as many times as the Laker fans think he did. You just sound like a loser. If your team didn't want officiating to come into play, it might have helped not to start celebrating at the end of the first quarter.
Parker and Ginobili get hacked all the time, and I'm not on here bitching about it when the Spurs lose. The last time I blamed the officials for a loss on this board was in the olympics.

D'Antoni usually has his starters in late in the game during blowouts because he's paranoid and doesn't trust his bench. It's not an intentional move to stick it to the other team.

I agree with both you and Xylus about Marion. What was up with his lack of passion tonight. Ten and four is horrendous stats for anyone, especially him. He wasn't any good on defense either. If he would have gave effort tonight we might have won the game. We need his rebounds and hustle.

What Raja did was fine with me in my book - you seem to be playing the "Smush is too dumb to know better" defense but that doesn't mean it's right... I mean, we're not trying to tread into Nate Robinson "they punked us" territory here, but that's a pretty blatant and low-class move in the playoffs.

Barbosa wasn't taunting the bench - he was telling the ref that he got hit by Smush as he took it. I rewound it 3 times to make sure because I didn't want the guy to start going Tim Thomas on us just because he won the 6th man award.
However, the more hilarious outtake was when Sasha Vujacic runs up to Odom at the end of the game and says "fuck those motherfuckers." Makes me think of that little guy in BASEketball who just wanted to fit in.

Lastly, if by some chance he was taunting, it would probably be in response to some kind of stupidity from Turiaf or Sasha... I just don't think it's something he would do and the camera angles coupled with some Suns haters have turned this into something it isn't.
If Doug Collins (a guy who likes to invent shit that isn't there) doesn't say anything, then it probably didn't happen. Maybe karma came back to bite him in the ass when Kobe hacked the shit out of him a few plays later when he made that twisty move.

All I know is that it was the 2nd time he had hit from that corner and also the 2nd time he thought he'd been fouled in the act of shooting. The first time, he definitely complained to the official about the call. The 2nd time... well, we all have our opinions, but I hate the Lakers so much that I'll let his taunting slide even though I thought he was pointing to the ref (near the bench, but off camera) and saying he was hit again.
