Can't wait!! Great block by Amare.

Xylus
04-26-2007, 02:23 PM
There were a couple of great things about that block:

1. It came not too long after Amare had just swatted a Kobe dunk-attempt.
2. He didn't just block it, he basically just took the ball from Odom midair. Amare came down with the ball in his hands.
3. It set the tone for the night. The Lakers were thoroughly demoralized all night, and Amare's blocks had a lot to do with that.

I hope Amare comes out with the same fire tonight that he showed on Tuesday night.

I'll concede that one considering he usually can't finish around the bucket without dunking. He'll even get a bonus point from me for actually hitting the FT that followed.

This game just proves to me that Phoenix lacks the killer instinct that is necessary to win an NBA title.

Here's the problem with that: The Spurs have to try to get their rhythm back, and if they play well enough to close out this series quickly, a long rest will suck because they will probably lose their rhythm again. The Spurs have limited their minutes during the season and have enough experience to know how long the playoffs are.

If I were a Laker fan, I'd be really excited about the future of these players. Instead they are going to fuck up and trade away their good players for KG.

Here's the problem with that: The Spurs have to try to get their rhythm back, and if they play well enough to close out this series quickly, a long rest will suck because they will probably lose their rhythm again. The Spurs have limited their minutes during the season and have enough experience to know how long the playoffs are.

As I recall, rest >>> rust in the history of the post-season. You might drop an early game at home, but you can more than make up for it.

The guys on Around the Horn have been saying the same things. You'd think Adande would be the voice of reason, but it's hard to be the voice of reason when they are talking about blowing the team up if they lose to the Suns. If I were a Laker fan, I'd be really excited about the future of these players. Instead they are going to fuck up and trade away their good players for KG.

Finally they call Nash for that Devin Harris flop.

Barbosa probably would have gotten that call in Phoenix, but the hack might have been after the shot was away and it was blocked. Not that it wasn't a foul, but it didn't really affect the outcome of the shot.

not watching the game.. just looking at the box score... lakers cleaning up on the offensive glass. LO's rebounding is impressive to say the least.

Those 15 offensive rebounds in the first half were what kept the Lakers in the game. They were outshot 58% to 40% in the first half, yet only trailed by 3 at intermission.

We just need a seed of doubt planted on the Sun's mins. The Suns are really great when they start rolling with victories. If they sweep the LA, the Spurs will have their hands full on a rolling Suns. But based on the regular season, they find it quite hard to build momentum after some losses. So I say, let LA beat them and darg this series into 7 games.

Great game by the Lakers.

They capitalized on the Suns when they got fat and happy with their 17-point, 1st quarter lead. From then on, they used the energy of the crowd and a good performance by Kwame Brown to propel them the rest of the way. The Suns fought, but looked out of sync. Steve Nash didn't try and take over at the end of the game like he usually does, perhaps because there were constantly 2 or 3 defenders on him.

Thats true. Stupid touch fouls also. He needs to not get those type of fouls, make his fouls count instead. Well, I did not think we would sweep them but damn this one hurts since we were clicking on all cylinders in the first quarter and then thought we had it in the bag and relaxed. Class is overrated. This is the Pros, not college, or HS, or JV... if they don't like it, they should do something about it. The only reason you don't do this is because it could backfire and cause the opponent to play mad (read: well). However, it has a good chance at making your team have a morale boost too. Because Diaw has been underperforming as a starter all year. And because D'Antoni likes the Barbosa-Diaw tandem coming off the bench. It strengthens the bench and gives a player like James Jones confidence in knowing that he's a starter.

I'll admit off the bat that I'm way too tired and lazy to go back thru all 9 pages of this thread, but has anybody mentioned how Barbosa started jawing and pointing at the Lakers bench when he made the three to tie it up at 89? maybe that shit talk had something to do with Smush wanting to do something classless at the end.

It's incredible how much more smoothly the offense runs when Luke Walton is one the floor, even if he doesn't touch the ball at all during a possession.

When they had the guard combo of Smush and Diet Smush out there, Kobe had no choice but to jack stuff up.

Yeah, it's called "great defense".

:rolleyes
Like your team would know anything about defense.

At some point, professional basketball players need to nut the fuck up and make themselves better. Kobe is not responsible for the improvement in those guys tonight.

very true :clap

Nope, his teammates were ready to shoot the ball, but Kobe didn't even dare look to pass. Phoenix almost took the lead if not for somehow good enough defense.

So...you're defending what Smush did? Trying to dunk in the last second of the game when the win is already in your hands?

Ponky, remind me to dunk all over you (on a 9-foot hoop, mind you) next time we meet.

hehe, i'd have to take a charge because i'm skeeeeeeeeeerrred and don't play well, shortie here :)

anyway, yeah, i think it was alright, who really cares if they score two more points, the suns should've taken care of the ball, that's the game...score, defend, score, repeat. also, it's the playoffs, the lakers are still at a huge disadvantage and will probably lose in 5, maybe 6...why not allow their fans to celebrate a thunderous dunk and get their money's worth? people that whine about sporstmanship in such cases have no heart and competitive drive, imo. i guess for me, when i compete in a sporting event or actually anything, work, sports, games, driving (yes, driving!), i want to beat everyone and make sure they know it...if that makes me an asshole, oh well

besides, d'antoni is the most competitive coach in the league (at least outwardly he shows it), he should understand just fine. that IS one thing, and probably the only thing, i admire about him, he's just crazy about the game and can't stand to lose....which is also the reason he keeps his starters in the game at the end when they are up by double-digits, he wants to make sure they win and win BIG

It's incredible how much more smoothly the offense runs when Luke Walton is one the floor, even if he doesn't touch the ball at all during a possession.

Yeah Luke is are best passer.

are you a spurs fan or a warriors fan?
Both. Favorite players are both Duncan and Davis.Sadly, both got ejected at games when they were laughing and clapping. :clap :lol
