Of course there are still four games left to play, but if even one game--Game 4, 5, 6 or (if Mavs' fans are lucky) 7--resembles this ass-whipping, Mavs will be the first #1 seed to get knocked out of the first round in how many years, anyone know?

The sound of silence from [whiney arrogant] Mavs fans opens this weekend at your favorite Sports Board.

Enjoy.

meh, you don't really choke if you were never in the game to begin with, use proper terminology when you start mav-hate threads.

oh, and why should we be silent when fans from a team that didn't even make the playoffs are still blathering away because they've jumped onto another team's back like true bandwagon fans?

Why should I be silent just because my team isn't in the PO's? Some here would call that true homerism. Is that what you would do? I guess we may see...

And, I submit that choking is EXACTLY what is happening here. :lol

I'm not a Mav's hater. And if you're looking over your shoulder it ain't on me.

What did the Mavs miss tonight? They were totally and utterly dominated, yet the stat lines were simlilar (at least in the 3rd quarter) except for those extra 20 points.

The Mavs played terribly, the bigs contributed a whopping three points when they could be schooling smaller guys like Biedrins and Harrington but instead they're playing hot potato with the ball. JHO played alright, but then maybe I'm biased because he's my favorite guy on the court. Dirk was alright, not great, but then he didn't have help from anyone early on and lots of players sucked it up, afraid to drive in and get the calls. Rolling out the red carpet for Baron whenever he desired to go to the hole didn't help either. Unfortunate matchup with the Warriors who have mentally screwed with the Mavericks so props to them.

umm, let me clarify. what i won't do is go and talk smack to all the teams i dislike when they get bumped in the playoffs. yes, i will continue to watch the nba playoffs to their finale but i'm not going to sit there and make fun of other teams where my team isn't concerned. i don't do that now with the spurs/nuggets game, i don't do that with the suns/lakers games, the bulls/heat games, even though i dislike several teams and their fans. my concern is with my team, the rest is just an exercise in mostly silent observation for me.

Their regular season record was pretty much a fluke I guess

I've been saying they just don't have the leadership qualities you need on a championship team. In fact Golden State has more leadership and experience (BD and S-JAX and Nelly) and I think that's where they have a major psychological advantage.

Golden State in 6

Who on the Mavs has shown the ability, other than Dirk, to consistently (more than 1 year) prove that he/she can show up and play when it really matters?

Jason Terry was on the hawks, stackhouse was a nobody before Dallas who was on losing teams, Dampier was on terrible teams. the list goes on and on. These players played well together for ONE fucking year.

This team is overrated

Hmm....that may be an overstatement. I think AJ's a good leader. But the tech's the Mavs got in this game, weren't exactly good marks for a team that's supposed to have the mental advantage. (As evidenced in last year's finals)

Biedrins is 6'11" and good for 1.7 BPG. Kinda far-fetched to mention the matchup with Biedrins when he is predominately a defensive post player. He scored 2 at the line and had 4 buckets, most were dunks, at least one was a putback. Not much your bigs can do about that, being that Dampier is the same height and about 100 pounds heavier :lol

Baron powered his way into the paint and yes, exposed Mav's lack of post defense, which is ritical when you get deep into the playoffs.

I'm not too keen on defensive matchups, I lose my place watching them. Who was Dirk guarding most of the night, did you notice? Well, I guess it doesn't matter, your whole team lost on the defensive end. Hopefully watching the tape will tell a story.

Biedrins is alright if you let him just play his game and don't play and D on him. I had him on my fantasy team for a long time but dropped him due to his inconsistent play. The reason he was inconsistent was because there are teams out there who take him out of his game and play hard...the Mavs are obviously not doing that. I think Damp could easily outmatch Biedrins with a good feed. He's not going to be quicker than Biedrins but under the basket, he could easily outpower him for some points and maybe even get him in foul trouble....same goes for Diop.

I don't remember about Dirk, I was too caught up listening to Bill Walton and getting more ticked off. Doesn't matter though, game over, next game's on Sunday and in between there are some good games tomorrow.

GS completely owns at the guard position, and Nellie has the advantage over Avery because he knows the habits of the Mavs players. Dallas has a huge advantage inside, but there best player Dirk still shoots instead of taking it to the rim strong.

I thought that Dallas would win the series even though the Warriors would put up a heck of a fight. I hope I am wrong, I like GS more than the Mavs.

In relation to this series their regular season record isn't indicative of anything. Golden State creates problems on the defensive end for the Mavs.

Al Harington pretty much is able to counter with his offense what dirk is able to bring offensively. He drives right by him consistently. When dirk is the only offensive advantage the mavs have against GS then the rest of the load is left for everyone else. They aren't responding. And it's because of what I have been saying all season: They haven't gotten over the psychological inhibition that is: They haven't done SHIT.

They don't have a mountain of success that they can rely on to give them that boost of confidence that they are in dire need for. But this isn't only a problem for the unit. almost every individual player on that team has hasn't proven that they are capable of winning: Stack, terry, dampier, George, Diop, Howard have all proven to be losers or haven't played significant roles on championship caliber teams--george comes to mind when I think of the latter.

haha. thanks, i really like it too. :p:

yeah the bulls are really awesome... i really think they got a strong group this year, last year they couldn't beat the heat for crap, but now they got Wallace and they're (imo) top guns in the east. the east is pretty exciting this year, too. really? yeah same with me with the bulls, since i was born in chicago and stuff.

oh, the knicks aren't in the playoffs this year... well maybe next year, you can root for the bulls then ahha but i know it's not the same, but cherish the moments while the mavs are in it cause it sucks not having a team to root for that you really favor.
