I just don't get why this year deserves two.

Is Amare worth 2 asterisks by himself?

And Heat '06 deserves as asterisk because they faced the choke-job Mavs.

If you don't have at least two in your trophy case, it's easy to make that mistake.

The 1999 * is retarded. Phil Jackson made it seem like only the Spurs benefited from a shortened season. It was the same for everyone! Besides, the 1999 playoff team was our most dominant team ever. We kicked everybody's ass and it didn't matter who we were going to play, we were going to destroy them. We only lost 2 games the whole playoffs!

Good job Spurs. You just went out and beat a short-handed team like you were supposed to. Don't let all the haters ruin the fun of another championship run. Just be glad you didn't run into the juggernaut that is the Dallas Mavericks. The best team, the best fans. Regular season means jack shit if you can't beat an 8th seed.

We lost to a bunch of fluke players making fluke shots, and the refs screwed us but good. Enough with the Spurs and their 3 rings talk and how that makes them a "dynasty." The Mavericks are the true Dynasty. The late eighties Maverick teams featuring Rolando Blackman and Mark Aguirre represent the greatest dynasty in all of U.S. pro sports history. To wit:

1) 5 straight winning seasons
2) 1986-87 Midwest Division champs
3) Appeared in 1988 Western Conference Finals
4) Roy Tarpley, 87-88 Sixth Man of the Year
5) Dallas' Reunion Arena was host of the 1986 NBA All Star Game
6) Strong at Center with reliable big man James Donaldson

Your serve Spurs fan. You just got owned.

The Warriors were a beastly juggernaut after the trade: 16-5 down the stretch. So temporarily, until Baron gets hurt again, they are the best team in the NBA because they beat us, and we're now the 2nd best team in the League. Spurs are a distant third. Just be glad that Utah got all the calls against Golden State because the Warriors would sweep the Spurs, or at the very worst take San Antonio in five games.

It's ok to lash out, in fact it's important to the healing process. You have to cleanse your souls of pretentious beliefs before you can take the necessary steps to embracing the truth. This will not be an easy process, but I want you to know that I will stand by you until this cancer can be lifted. I have faith that you all will recognize the rigging of this series has put it on a level with pro wrestling. Lets try and save the NBA.

I didn't realize logic was used in that post.

Well, let's go it through it position by position:

Derek Harper > Tony Longoria. I give a slight edge to Longoria on speed and ability to get into the paint, but Harper is a better floor general.

Manu Ginobili > Rolando Blackman. Actually, this is a bit of a tossup. Sure, I give the slight edge to Manu NOW, but Blackman is 47 years old. But I could just as easily pick Blackman. Oh, we're talking Blackman in his prime? He crushes Manu.

Mark Aguirre > Bruce Bowen. Aguirre, the Wrath of God, the Real Deal. Do we even have to debate this?

Tim Duncan = Roy Tarpley. Okay, so here you guys draw even.

James Donaldson > Fabricio Oberto. Not even close.

We bring Brad "White Lightning" Davis, Sam Perkins, Detlef Schrempf and Uwe Blab off the bench. You guys "counter" with Finley, Barry, Elson and Bonner. Pardon me if I don't laugh.

The 1987-88 Dallas Mavericks. Best.Team.Ever

Let's just asterisk all the last few championships?

1999 * Spurs win in a shortened season
2000 * Lakers don't play Spurs because Tim Duncan injured
2001 * Derek Anderson injured, Lakers beat Spurs
2002 * Fluke shot by Horry to win the game. If not for that, Kings are in the Finals
2003 * Dirk hurt in WCF. Spurs win title
2004 * Detroit wins due to Karl Malone's injury and the Lakers drama
2005 * Joe Johnson injured, Spurs win title
2006 * Refs bail out Wade, Josh Howard accidentally calls time out, Mavs choke.
2007? * Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw are not smart enough to stay on the bench and are suspended for Game 5

You're just a blind homer for the Spurs. Everybody knows that the League and the media wanted its fairytale story and so we had to play five on eight. Not complaining, that's just how it goes. James Donaldson owned the Admiral back in the day and Erick Dampier owns Tim Duncan now. I think we proved that with that severe beatdown we laid on you in the conference semifinals last year. Golden State over Dallas. We had to play five on eight, except for in Games 2 and 5, since the League didn't want to be totally obvious with the screwjob they were pulling.

Anyone that thinks a Champion doesn't survive with a little luck on the way is lacking insight on NBA History.

I wish Amare and and Diaw would have played but what can you do? You certainly can't hold it against the Spurs. It's an NBA rule that kept those players out of the game, not the opposing team.

I can't help but think the thread starter is throwing this out there because he has been a champion of the Suns this post-season.... and now that the team he picked to win it all is on the verge of being ousted he needs to lay the groundwork for his excuses why his prediction didn't pan out.

This series isn't over though. Sure the Suns have an uphill battle but if they can win Game 6 it's tied.... and they will have the homecourt.

You know what else we did? We knocked off the defending "champs" from the playoffs last year. And I only say "champs" because Detroit got screwed on all the calls and were the rightful winner.

10) perennial shot blocking stud Shawn Bradley.

So while we are at it lets put an asterisk on Jordans first title because the Lakers and Magic Johnson were not as good as they once were. Also throw two on the Rockets titles because Jordan was retired and not himself when he came back at first.

It sure did. I had to come in here and class this thing up. But that's par for the course. Good job me on being so classy towards fans of other teams that are not so fortunate. We can't all be Mavs fans but the least Mavs fans can do is take pity on other fans and not rub it in their faces that they don't cheer for Dallas.

Spurs Championships, A National Media Perspective:

1999 - *Lockout Shortened Season

2003 - *Dirk Hurt in WCF

2005 - *Lakers Split up

Pending:

2007 - *Amare's an Idiot

Where are the * beside the Suns or Mavs Championships?

Maybe 2006 should have one for Miami.

2006 - *Mavs commit one of history's worst choke jobs

Good job Spurs. You just went out and beat a short-handed team like you were supposed to. Don't let all the haters ruin the fun of another championship run. Just be glad you didn't run into the juggernaut that is the Dallas Mavericks. The best team, the best fans. Look at David Hasselhoff attack that burger the way we attacked teams during the regular season. Hasselhoff 67, Burger 15:

Since we're on the subject of shooting guards and small forwards, Cadillac Anderson and Vinny Del Negro. That's funny. Aguirre, Blackman >>> Anderson, Del Negro.

Ping Pong Balls. Dallas had to go out and actually build a team. We didn't win the lottery. OWNED.

And what has your team "buiilt"? A team that starts out hot, fizzles toward the end of the season and chokes in the 1st round.
