View Full Version : Jazz free t-shirts

Just saw a reporter sitting in the stands talking about the game tonight and every seat had a light blue t-shirt laying over the back of the seat. The Jazz are giving every fan a t-shirt to put on and wear.
The place will be one big sea of blue. Now how come the cheap bastards in SA do not do this? It would be cool if the whole AT&T Center was blacked out for their games.

Utah's ownership loves ticketbuyers more than San Antonio's ownership.
It's actually at least the 2nd time in this post-season that the Jazz have done the t-shirt give away thing.

It would cost about 50K to give everyone a t-shirt. All you have to do is raise the price of beer and softdrinks about 50 cents for that oe game and you made up for the expense and nobody would complain.

Yeah, they don't black it out or white it out or yellow it out... they powder blue it out.
And FYI, the team doesn't do it. It is a sponsor, just like when we get sticks or pom poms or clappers or maracas or Academy scratchers or D Rob banners or posters or etc.
They are all from people like ATnT, Express News, Academy, Spectrum, Indep Carp Care, etc.
Comcast did the 'We Believe' shirts for GS.

How about the cheap sponsors of SA how come they don't do it.
Theres a sponsor on those shirts on the seats, so don't think its Larry Miller giving them away....

The shirts are given away by Zions Bank. They will say TRUE BLUE on the front with the Jazz logo below it. Zions Bank did this for game 2 against the Warriors but only for the lower bowl. After TONS of complaints from fans in the upper bowl, Zions decided to give a shirt to everyone for game 3 tonight. It looks pretty sweet until fans stand up and you see those god awful green seats. I really wish they'd chuck those green seats and bring in navy blue seats.
It's pretty cool but it pisses me off when fans don't wear the shirt. I think if you don't put the shirt on, you should lose your seat.

Sure. I don't think Zions Bank would mind at all seeing 19,000 Spurs fans wearing powder blue Jazz shirts :lol

The Spurs already spent that $50,000 skipping media day.
And Frost Bank is hurting because of these gas prices.

I came very close to going to Game 3. I figured that it might be in the best interests of Spurdom for me to skip it, though, since the Spurs have never won a road game that I've attended.
Have fun tonight!

If you really care you would wear your own black shirt...
Damn what happened to the '99 Championship run days when the whole city was going crazy right about now. I don't even see any Go Spurs Go messages on any business marquies, hardly any flags...
Ah well I guess winning isn't new to us anymore :spin

I've seen plenty of "Go Spurs Go" signs around town. On businesses, on fences of homes. They're there, you just have to look a bit harder I guess.
I remember the STSA people were trying to get everyone to wear black to a game a while back, but even if that did happen...you would still have those people who don't listen to sports radio not knowing about it. I think if we really want to have a "black out" we need it spread on the news, commercials, billboards, etc. But if we are going to do that, it might just be cheaper to get a sponser to donate them, the cost might be less than all the advertising that would need to be done.

And one must keep in mind that not everyone would wear a black t-shirt if it was given to them. We've got more than our share of women in the lower bowl (yes, I'm calling them out) who spend a lot of time sexy-fying themselves up to be seen and I seriously doubt they would throw a black t-shirt over themselves.

Then you've got the problem of an XL shirt, not fitting a XXL person, or a person that wears a medium or a large
but im sure the bitchers and complainers figured that out.

personally im either or on the t shirt.
I wouldn't want one cause I buy the jerseys.
I think its a stupid gimmicky thing like the "all black shoes" thing.

Black is a bad idea. Don't ask me why... it just is.
On the other hand, fiesta colors are awesome. The visiting team would get disoriented and start shooting at the wrong basket. You combine that with a mariachi band behind the visiting team's bench, and you have an undefeated home record.
Give me the Spurs marketing department. I'm a genius.

yeah, this was discussed in a thread last week -and i still totally agree. it;s GENIUS!. evil. but genius.
and the Spurs are immune to the nasuea broguth on by Fiesta colors - so we are good to go.

I was going to say the same thing. I'd love them to hand out the shirts, but if a sponsor isn't stepping up to do it, then that's the end of that.
(Next year I'll put ads all over SpursTalk, make a ton of money, and buy the damn t-shirts myself :lol)

Bigger companies like AT&T or Valero should have no problem ponying up for some shirts. Someone from SA needs to start a letter email writing campaign for the finals.

Utah is known (there) as the Land of Zion. There's also Zion's National Park in Southern Utah. After a few years of living there, you kind of learn more than you ever cared to know about the LDS Church, thinly veiled as Utah history. :)

At the last home Spurs home game, I saw groups of people in the lower bowl of the AT&T that all wore black shirts .... and it looked like big sections of empty seats from the TV.
Unless they were empty seats? :wtf :lol

I would suggest that they use a loose fitting reversable top, like a practice jersey, that's black on one side and gray on the other. Flip it every quarter.

Not bitching about it. It just gives the atmospere a "college" look to it. In college, those seas of white(A&M) Red (Oklahoma) Orange(Ok St) just look cool, especially on tv. When Golden St did it, I thought it was a nice touch and really shows solidarity, IMO.
Sorry if I pissed you off for asking.
