Are you aware that the Cowboys play in Irving, near Dallas, and not in San Antonio? It is reflected in their name: "The Dallas Cowboys."

Perhaps this thread could be better titled as "Best 15 Years in Pro Sports History for Vatos on the Southside."

This is not the place or Forum to debate what NFL team most San Antonio RESIDENTS are tied to.

But I defer....... I am a San Antonio born and Raised Vato. And it has been an exciting ride for gringos and vatos. PENDEJO!

Anyway...... thanks for the Geography lesson.

As long as you're including Dallas teams into San Antonio sports history, you might as well give us credit for winning the Western Confernce Championship last year as well.

Raise the banner!!!

Done a pretty good job of it the last several years.

Bless your little heart Ducks. You'll definitely never get credit for being one of the smartest posters around, but you're good for entertainment value. :lol

I knew you were baiting me. You try it with Eagles smack about every 6 months. I ignore it most of the time, but tonight I'm just in a good mood and gave a little back. No biggie.

Football Teams generally have Statewide followings.

Hmm even some other Communities other than the Spurs hometown root for the Spurs and call them their own right?

But I digress. I am sorry for offending the geniuses on this board.

No offense taken.. :spin

To say that San Antonio has plenty of Cowboys fans is one thing. But to claim the Cowboys as part of San Antonio sports history is another. Big difference.

On top of that, I never understood why San Antonio residents loath Dallas and their Mavericks fans, yet they'll stand side-by-side with them while rooting for their football team. :dizzy

Who else are they going to root for, the Texans? :lol

I am from San Antonio and my team is the Colts. The Cowboys winning SB's in the 90s was nothing but a big yawn.

That would definitely be more honorable than rooting for a team that plays for a city so many SA residents claim to hate.

If I hated the city of Philadephia, you sure as hell wouldn't find me rooting for their Eagles with them.

^^ Don't take it to heart. There are alot of Cowboy fans on this board and in the state. There are even Cowboy fans in Houston even with the Texans there and all. :lol Texas is a football state and the Cowboys run it.

How is one gonna put the cowboys and leave out the Longhorns in 05. Austin is sure as hell alot closer than dallas. But neither is in S.A. But if we are going Texaswide the horns deserve to be there as much as anybody! The majority of the players are actually Texan!

There was a strong contingent of Oiler fans in San Antonio that either followed the Oilers to Tenessee or moved on to another team. I guess some of those Oiler fans became Cowboy fans but I think most of them followed the Titans until the Texans were formed.

No no... S.A. takes pride in the Cowboys, just as we do The Longhorns. We're Texans, first and foremost.

However, when it comes to basketball.... well......... :downspin:
