Oh I'm sure the players/t.v. crew welcomed Bruce's antics, only at the expense of some of the viewers... "Don't worry Bruce will handle everything, we won't have to do much."
Though I wonder if Manu and Fabricio were wondering what the heck he was doing to the Spanish language.

He talks Spanish to them all the time. They say he's pretty fluent (with a poor accent). His wife is Cuban.

I think you guys are being too hard on Bruce. I mean he was probably told to take his time in introducing everyone. And he had to introduce everyone, including all the other staff people...So it's not his fault that for the fans it might not have been fun to listen to him introduce the behind the scenes staff. It's the whole organization that was represented. So everyone had to be aknowledged...obviously the fans would prefer just to see their favorite players. (no the trainers...etc...)
Plus a lot of the Spurs players don't like to talk as much...So I feel like Bruce is doing a lot of players a favor by accepting to be the announcer. I know some guys would not want to do that, to have that pressure on themselves to entertain thousands and thousands of people on stage. And to try to make it look interesting.
So I think Bruce did an excellent job. (with what was given at the moment)

Oh ok, I remember him giving a shout out to his wife on the post-conference, but I wasn't sure if he was doing it for kicks. (his accent or pronunciation did seem clumsy)
thanks for clarifying.

Well, anyway I can't speak for the other comments on here, but I just want to make clear, that I'm just poking fun at Bruce's MC skills in a good way, no one expects these guys to be professional MC's :lol
IMO, he was badddddddd...but in the end, I really don't care that he was, my favorite part, "See Tim, they're saying Brucee" when I think they really were booing that time when he was pretending to wrap it up before introducing the big 3.

Shoulda been Barry. I felt sorry for Bruce. He came across as the kind of person who is very comfortable with his close friends, but doesn't feel comfortable around groups of people he hasn't met. I can relate. I was very impressed with how many names he remembered of people deep within the Spurs organization. But, he fell in love with the mic, and that was his downfall.

we randomly asked a guy next to us after the parade at a stoplight the best way to get the the alamodome(my friends and i live in austin, and i hadn't been to the alamodome since the 94 final 4 championship game), and he gave us floor passes to the celebration at the alamodome in the dome seating section. it kicked ass, but all my pics turned out blurry for the most part except some of the coyote. bruce was glib, but awesome, and barry's eva joke panned but was actually pretty damn funny.

:lol He's actually very good at public speaking if you have heard him at any other Spurs events/church stuff. He just had a lot of time to occupy and not much material or stuff to talk about besides the introductions. It's not like the other Spurs had something to say but didn't have time because Bruce hogged the mic. They should have just had more stuff planned.
Oh well, I'm shocked at the complainers here.

Honestly, each player kinda gave short speeches. That was not Bruce's fault. He let everyone talk...it's just that they had little to say.
I'm also surprised at people complaining so much about Bowen! I mean they all just won the championship.
Plus, didn't Bruce major in public speaking? I think he's very good at it. And I also love listening to his interviews...
It's funny how people think he took the mic from others...when everyone had their turn to speak, it is just that they chose to say a few words rather than long speeches...lol.
If you notice that whenever there is some sort of a ceremony, Bruce is always chosen by his team to speak. He also spoke when they all arrived back from Cleveland at the airport. The team wants him to do the speaking...all the time. It's not like he craves the spotlight...

The poor guy had to keep telling people when he was telling jokes.
However, I think he did well at the very end getting the crowd pumped up, but all in all I am dissapointed we didn't see Barry. Bruce's presentation was long as things were a bit dry and on the boring side. Thats not to take away from the title or anything else but a simple review of his performance last night.

Bruce had a hard row to hoe,and I don't think he'd hoed very well. In spite of the enormous good will most of us have towards Bruce, he was really wrong-footed and off-key at the Alamodome.
Brent, Tony, and Sean were extremely professional and entertaining at the Tip0-Off luncheons, and Tony did a superb job at the 2005 Alamodome.
Pained to see Bruce struggling last night, I was thinking Sean, as professional announcer and extreme popular ex-Spurs, could have pulled it off a lot better, and it would have taken pressure off any player to carry the entire evening.
