I'm saying the Spurs would have to make a move IF something like the Garnett-to-Phoenix or Kobe-to-Dallas thing happened. IF

Granted, if everyone in the Western conference just stands pat then the Spurs look like the favorite for next year.

I was just trying to come up with a situation in which the Spurs would spring for the Scola buyout this year.

And what would bringing in Scola do to counter Kobe or KG that someone on the Spurs currently couldn't do?

Why the laugh? Let me ask you a question, ¿Are you aware that #9 of draft 2006 was Patrick O'Bryant?

Do you think Patrick is a better player than Oberto? Would he had contributed more?

How about a player that compared to Oberto, has the same size, fundamentals and basketball IQ, but 5 years younger, much better midrange shoot, faster and more athetic?

Are you really sure that it's a lock that the number #9 of any draft will get you a better player than an improved version of Oberto?

Wow, someone's drinking the Scola kool-aid.

I just hope Scola doesn't become another Bodiroga.

Yes, I've heard those are really scary, especially around the full moon. I had a friend who had a Bodiroga stalking her for a while. She still carries a wooden cross and a tube of astroglide wherever she goes.

PS What's a Bodiroga?

There are a lot of speedsters in the NBA, and almost all of them are NOT winners. Champions are winners, not speedsters. Scola , as with Oberto, and Manu (well, most of the time) find ways to beat you and remain winners. None have speed. They do have HEART.

If the Spurs aren't able to move Scola, it may not be a bad thing to eventually bring him in. When TD is not in the game, the Spurs do not have a low post scoring threat. Duncan averaged 34.1 minutes per game in the last regular season. Give Scola the 14 he's not on the court with perhaps 6 minutes of them together and you have 20 a night for Luis, which should be enough to justify what the Spurs would have to pay him if he joined the team. Obviously, if they can acquire Nocioni for Scola they will do that, but the alternative is not that bad.

did some other teams do something already to make themselves better?

Link to that?
Why are you always asking for a link to everything? Look up something yourself.

If your gonna pontificate on something in here bringing news or supposed "truths" to a subject. I'd like the link to the story that says this bit of news, proving this truth.

Backing up and showing links to your claims before pontificating to someone else would be better.

Personally, I think we should dump Scola and draft Tiago. He is a monster down low, taller, younger, and more athletic than Scola. He is expected to last until late 1st round. His 7'2" wingspan and 9'1.5" standing reach would be useful.

I'm a genius.
