got curious after reading that "come clean" nonsense of a thread. someone mentioned "mouse," and i thought "why on earth would anyone make that his profile name?"

thus, i put it to you. a lot of you have some non-obvious names (i consider mine pretty obvious in terms of what it means and why i chose it), what's the story behind the nomenclature?

Funny story. When I was in high school Spanish 1, around Thanksgiving time, we learned the word for turkey. I laughed and told my friend that it sounded like some medieval knight's name. I guess it just stuck. :lol

Essay = S.A. and Spur...well, I dunno, we're on a Spurs forum right? 1001 is just a number, and I'm going to ask Kori to drop it when she's not busy.

It's spelled Brutalise but I cut off the E cause I'm American and we screw up words really well.

It's been my alias for years, it's after the Spurs. They are brutal. And before we became so brutal, it was brutal for us. Each year in the 90s was brutal, and now we are the ones doing the brutality to other teams. /end

SRJ
06-22-2007, 08:48 PM
SRJ is a short version of my old name on another Spurs forum.

The name was Spurs 2-0, Rockets 2-2, Jazz 0-2. When I joined back then, those were our historic division rivals and their records in NBA Finals play. One realignment and two titles later, the full name is rather unnecessary, but I liked the letters together.

Hope that helps.

Nathan Explosion
06-22-2007, 09:38 PM
There's a cartoon on Adult Swim called Metalocalypse. It's about the most brutal metal band in the world, Dethklok.

Nathan Explosion is the lead singer of Dethklok. That's him in the picture. I used the name because I've been watching a lot of Metalocalypse lately, and love the name. It was either that or Murderface.

Metalocalypse follows the exploits of the part-American/part-Scandinavian metal band Dethklok. Although the name is usually spelled "Dethklok," almost all of the band logos have it spelled as "Dëthkløk." Dethklok follows true-to-life metal styling, one example being their death metal-oriented song, "Mermaider," about "mermaid murder." They enjoy a popularity level unheard of in reality, being "the twelfth largest economy on Earth." They are so popular that their fans will do anything their songs tell them, even if it means death. If Dethklok endorses a company, it instantly becomes the only source for the product it happens to sell, as every competitor is quickly driven out of business. The band's unnatural popularity has attracted the attention of an Illuminati-style group, known as the Tribunal. Each episode sees this group attempt to covertly thwart the band by calling in various "specialists", such as a "military pharmaceutical psychotropic drug manufacturers", "celebrity depression specialists" or various psychopaths that attempt to infiltrate the group.

The band's concerts are notoriously violent, often resulting in harm to a good portion of the crowd. Even their attempts at charity result in numerous deaths, such as the laser light show that butchered the London Philharmonic orchestra during a benefit concert. The premiere episode gives an example of this: a metal box that serves as the band's stage is airlifted and dropped on location, but misses the landing area and crushes a good portion of the crowd, both by virtue of its landing and by its subsequent opening. Several searing hot coffee and cream pitchers are also poured on the crowd, melting their skin off, to fit with the thrash metal styled coffee jingle being played by the band. Despite the obvious danger, however, people love Dethklok's concerts so much that they will sign "pain waivers"[3] at the entrance, signing their lives away and releasing the band from legal liability in the very likely case they are killed or dismembered. The band members reside together in a vast mansion called Mordhaus (German for "Murderhouse") in an unspecified mountainous region known as Mordland. According to the Dethklok MySpace page, Mordland is in the United States. [4]Also according to a Myspace page supposedly belonging to Toki Wartooth, Mordhaus is in Arizona.[5] The members of Dethklok are portrayed as generally sociopathic and inept in all things non-musical except for negotiating their own contracts. Despite the band's immense success and talent, all of the members have self-esteem issues which surface to varying degrees during the show. Their monumental wealth allows them to get away with just about anything, including murder. The band members share an obsession with "brutality" and "metal-ness," often choosing whether or not to do something based on how "metal" they believe it to be.

BradLohaus
06-22-2007, 10:15 PM
I used to dominate NBA Jam with Brad Lohaus and the Milwaukee Bucks. I think the Japanese programmers confused him with Larry Bird. People would think I was crazy win I used the Bucks against them when they had the Bulls or the Suns or some other great team, until I'd beat them over and over again.

He was the all around best player, and if anyone thinks it was Pippen or someone else, you are mistaken. Blue Edwards was a great sidekick. Since Brad was a Spur, I had to give him a shout out. I couldn't find a picture of him in a Spurs uniform, though.

Some girls were all in black... in their full regalia looking as if they had just left a Fellini set.' Barbara Hulanicki, describing the impact of the Biba look in 'From A to Biba'. Biba is frequently mentioned in the same giddy breath as mini-skirts, Mini cars, the Kings Road, the pill and various other London 'happenings' which shall forever define the 1960's as a decade that swung. It was, however, born of humble origins - garments were initially sold cheaply and to many, by mail order in newspapers. But by the early 1970's, Biba - a labour of love, a label, a lifestyle - had reached hitherto unknown heights of sophistication, innovation and retail experimentation, via its legendary Big Biba emporium on Kensington High Street (once hailed in the Sunday Times as 'the most beautiful store in the world').

Well, In my case the obvious answer doesn't work ...

My name isn't Walter and my last name isn't Benitez ... anyhow used for 10 years in many places since I am a secret agent searching for smart blond girls :cooldevil

used to have a spare car key ring with a little piece of paper attached to it. i couldnt fit "jason's car" on it so i just put "j-car". naturally if my car's nickname is j-car the drivers name would be j-man.

In my 'nerdier' youth, i was playing a game of Quake, Doom or the like against some friends and started a game with a name of 'Die, Mr Bond!' and called myself 'Mr Bond', and after several minutes was winning quite handily. Everyone started yelling at me, like the true nerds we were 'Die Mr Bond!'

For some reason i thought that was catchy, so i changed my name... it kind of stuck.

Spanish for "turkey" (not spelled correctly, by the way).

50 cool points for somebody that can figure out where the avatar(sp?) below the picture comes from.

What spanish is that? some native speaker word from a formerly known tribe that was overrun in the 1500s?

The spanish real translation is "Pavo".
