HIP HOP'S RISING STAR TERMANOLOGY'S DEBUT ALBUM BOASTS PRODUCTION DREAM TEAM
Politics As Usual LP to drop in Fall 2008
New York, NY - Massachusetts-bred, New York-based rapper Termanology is putting the finishing touches on his official debut album Politics As Usual. One of this year's most anticipated albums, it drops Fall 2008 through a joint venture between Terms own ST. Records and indy powerhouse Nature Sounds.
The record also features a who's who of production royalty, with DJ Premier, Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, The Alchemist, Havoc, Buckwild, Nottz and Large Professor providing tracks.
"Termanology puts the MC back in MC'ing, he's a breath of fresh air in this dirty game."
- Bun B
Growing up in the streets of the post-industrial, predominantly Latino city of Lawrence, MA, the half-white, half-Puerto Rican MC transitioned from silly freestyles at age nine to full-fledged records by 15. Constantly traveling between Boston and New York to pursue his music business dream, he released his first 12-inch in 2002. Through his alliance with influential mixtape DJ (and fellow Massachusetts native) Statik Selektah, Term began earning the respect of Boston's hip-hop scene with several highly acclaimed 12" singles.
At the onset of 2006, Term caught his big break when legendary producer DJ Premier, whom he met three years earlier, finally blessed him with one of his signature, scratch-laden beats. "Watch How It Go Down" instantly became an underground classic and Termanology appeared on hip-hop's international radar. The conscious hood anthem garnered the earnest MC tons of praise, landing him in The Source's "Unsigned Hype" and XXL's "Show and Prove" columns.
Since then, Termanology has quickly climbed the industry ranks with his Hood Politics mixtape series and continued collaborations with DJ Premier and other big name producers. Term's hard work resulted in a joint venture deal with EMI-distributed label Nature Sounds, which he signed in late 2007. "I decided to go the indy route to have total control of everything related to my project," Term explains.
"Term has a unique desire for the culture because he touches the issues that i can relate to as a TRUE HIP-HOP HEAD..his flows are nice, and he stays creative with his subject matter...he even speaks for me and not every new MC comin' up can do that."
- DJ Premier
Nature Sounds is quickly becoming the indy home for classic hip hop. During the last couple of years the label has released projects by several artists that include hip hop cult icon MF DOOM, Wu-Tang's Masta Killa (Made In Brooklyn), the debut album from Havoc of Mobb Deep (The Kush), most recently, Pete Rock's latest (NY's Finest).

I liked the Murs cd. THere are some tracks that I can easily skip, but there are some real nice songs. Murs keeps his style consistent, and his ability for conversating his story raps into lyrical flows is great.
Not sure if Hip sounding instrumentals with ambiance is your cup of tea, but this cd "Los Angeles" by Flying Lotus is dope shit.

Lets keep this thread alive with new releases and stuff to watch out for.
I just picked up Sage Francis "Human the Death Dance" and its amazing. This one is on par with "Personal Journals". I was hesitant to pick this up as I didn't care too much for "A Healthy Distrust" but this could be his best album yet. I also got to see him live again recently, and was reminded how much I liked his work. Well worth the ten bucks on itunes.
Here's a link to the album:
http://www.amazon.com/Human-Death-Dance-Sage-Francis/dp/B000OMD4D4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-8419718-8598548?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1182569085&sr=1-1
And here's a link to a video with Jolie Holland.

----------------------------------------------
If any of you are El-P fans, he's got a new album out as well "I'll Sleep When You're Dead". Not everyone likes El-P, but if you do, check out this album. Very different from "Fantastic Damage" but just as creative.
----------------------------------------------
I mentioned it before, but this one needs to be put in here again. Brother Ali "The Undisputed Truth". Unfuckingbelievable album. One of the best of 2007, easily. Beats, lyrics, and production are all on point.

Song of the Day, very fitting in this time period with the elections and economic turmoil:
Cunninlynguists - Dying Nation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sERxYXhqeac
"There's an old saying in Tennesse, I know it's in Texas, it's probably in Tennesse
that says fool me once... shame on... shame on you.
If you fool me you can't fool me again."
[SOS]
I live in a nation that relies on business and crime
And the leaders are politician guys livin' a lie
Who bullshit like everyone else for a nickel and dime
America ... just as corrupt as it is online
Using freedom and entertainment just to keep us sedated
But remember what the declaration of independence stated?
All men are equal and that's the way they're created?
But when that was written, black and white people were segregated
And this country still breeds racism, just not as blatant
To call us the land of the free is overstatement
Cause ain't NOBODY free. We all being watched quietly
National security's an invasion of privacy
Drug Trafficking, conspiracy, murder and piracy
What America can't have they take silently
Sometimes violently, open up your eyes and see
Even dirty money is supporting our economy
It's all backwards like negative split photography
But I guess that's the way it's got to be
United we stand on this land and we do all crimes
Facin' a Dyin' Nation ?
[Chorus]
"Facin' a dyin' nation. Listen to the retold lies" [x2]
[Deacon the Villain]
I live in a nation where it ain't what's physical that fights us
Now it's silent strikes from political insiders
A black market government where being criminal is righteous
Ran by bloodlines that were dirty before Isis
The crisis has even spread to spiritual infestations
Confessionals filled with sexual molestations
Professionals so set on capitalization
They don't notice their children freebasin' in their million
Dollar basements
Babies having babies in the hood I grew up in
Hands are too small for the guns that they be bustin'
Schools underfunded, graduates retain nothing
On Capitol Hll it's barely a topic of discussion
Kids like, why should I think about college
When this hood situation is holding me hostage
And even if I fought and bought the knowledge
I'd prolly get shot 41 times by a cop over my wallet
Shiiiiit.. So wherever you are
Don't inhale the second hand smoke from its victory cigar
Motivate yourself don't just stand on the side
Facing a dying nation and listening to the new told lies
[Chorus]
[Kno]
Somebody dial 9-1-1
It's mass confusion, mass contusions
At last we losin' Uncle Sam to a mass of tumors
And that's the rumor at least, it's soon to be seen
If its true that the beast is soon to decease
Catchin' blood clots in the crude oil
That runs through his veins and up thru his brain
Its tough to maintain
If he was low income he'd already been gone
Insurance paperwork gettin handled by Enron
And scandalous friends call to speak
Even Bill O'Reilly's wrapped in a hospital bedsheet
With a pointed hat, where the ointment at?
Wax the taxpayers backside for a tax hike
Woulda had a Catholic priest at his bedside
But they were too busy giving these Boy Scouts a leg ride
Temperature stay high but no pain
Cus the presidents Hooked on Phonics and cocaine
Product of old age and Alzheimers disease
Medical bills raised from all types of fees
Looks to the American people to show love
But his Social Security ran out - pull the plug

I would recommend any of their albums to anyone who likes perfectly flowing instrumentals, with perfectly placed vocal all kinds of other crazy shit sampled into it perfectly, similar to what DJ Shadow and RJD2 used to be. awesome song. if anyone's interested, i have the instrumental to the song. great stuff.
i didnt read all 13 pages of the thread haha, but has there been any mention of Exile's "Radio"? for those that may not know, Exile's most famous work was with Blu in '07 on Blu & Exile's "Below the Heavens" (a MUST have). his little solo project really interesting... basically just sampled all AM radio stations for everything on the album.

IMO, lyrically, he is now far superior to his mixtape days.
I think "Lupe Fiascos: The Cool" is the finest lyrical work of art that music has ever seen. Unfortunately, too much of it goes over the heads of your average hip hop listener, so they don't realize just how amazing the album truly is. I've never known of a rapper that is as good as Lupe at creating double and triple meanings in virtually all of his songs. Lyrically, he has reached a level that no rapper has ever reached before. Unfortunately you will always have the haters that think "Kick Push" is merely about skateboarding, and will always say that Lupe does "skateboard rap". Morons.

Detroit rapper Baatin dies of unknown causes at 35
Authorities say Detroit rapper Baatin, who co-founded the group Slum Village, has died in his hometown. He was 35.
The rapper, whose real name was Titus Glover, was found dead Saturday. The Wayne County medical examiner's office hasn't yet determined the cause of death, but county spokeswoman Vanessa Denha said Monday there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.
Baatin founded Slum Village in the late 1990s with high school classmate James (J. Dilla) Yancey, who died in 2006. The group won critical acclaim in 2000 with its national debut, "Fantastic Vol. 2," followed in 2002 by its highest-profile commercial release, "Trinity." Baatin left the group that year.
The Detroit Free Press says Baatin rejoined Slum Village for its upcoming album, "Villa Manifesto," due Sept. 22. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-mi-detroitrapperdeat,0,5022427.story

people of earth -
It brings me great pleasure to announce that i have supplied all production for the upcoming Felt 3 (a tribute to _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) record, due out later this year on Rhymesayers Entertainment. (rhymesayers.com)
In addition, my trusty cohort DJ Big Wiz was brought in for all scratches and turntable work throughout.
I have uploaded the first leak from the record titled "protagonists" to my myspace page. This song is available for free download here:
http://www.rhymesayers.com/radio/audio/protagonists.mp3
There is much to tell regarding the making of this project, however releasing information at a rate deemed unacceptable in accordance to previous Felt law would be nothing short of uncivilized. For now i will just say that I am very proud of what we made.
Enjoy your day.

It's already a few months old, but I just came across it. Nice to hear a legend like KRS calling out the lack of originality and talent in today's artists. Much better than Jay Z's D.O.A.

Strange Journey Vol. 1?
I like it. It is not a typical cohesive album that a CL album is usually like, but it is a fun listen, and the production by KNO is top notch once again.
KKKY remix is my favorite off that.

Just remember, everytime you are bobbing your head up and down to the music, you are making the same motion that women make when they suck cock.
So essentially, your bobbing heads to music = mimic sucking cock.
When you listen to your "rap", just imagine a big cock in front of you as you look down and bob your head up and down to the music.
