What's your take on this?
Dead Wrestler's Web Page Was Altered (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8Q2CFU80&show_article=1&catnum=-1)
Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit's Wikipedia entry to mention his wife's death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son. Benoit's Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife's death.

Unfortunately, we will never know the whole truth of this horrible matter. That's the sad part. I can't buy the roid rage with everything taking place over three days. I want to know what else Benoit was taking from the toxicology report.
I can say regardless of the autopsy results, I'm of the mind the WWE is not at fault. Someone on another board said something to the effect of "Would the SF Giants be at fault if Barry Bonds did this?" I've got to say no.

You would probably have a better take on this. Fill us in. It's some major bizarre shit with reports flying in every direction. It's f'ing sad, but what are the accurate details? Are they even close to a conclusion?

Fine, I don't blame the WWE either, but who changed the Wikipedia entry to reflect the death of his wife -- twice, from two different IP addresses (one overseas) -- 13 hours before the discovery of the bodies?
And, who kept deleting the modified entries as soon as they were made?
Interesting questions, don't'cha think?

Yoni, new developments- check out the news sites- (I'm too lazy to link it :lol) The person who did the wikipedia edits has come forward. He said he changed it on hearsay/rumor and then he found out later it was true.

Then the hearsay and rumor preceded police notification by at lease 13 hours. Who knew?

Well they said that Benoit told the WWE that his wife was throwing up blood and he had to miss a scheduled event to be with her. Maybe the speculation grew from there.

It'll be interesting to hear the explanation. I hope they don't let the guy who admitted to this get away with the simple excuse that he posted it based on hearsay.

Yeah, I'm suprised that the reporters didn't press him more on where he heard the rumors. The articles I read just attributed the info to rumor and left it at that.

Ever hear of the newsgroup Rec Sports Pro Wrestling?
It makes our very own troll forum look like a Disney Forum....and I don't have a doubt that the individual that did that is a regular member of that group.

Weird Coincidink?!?
An anonymous user with the same IP address as the person who made the edits confessed early Friday on an online discussion page attached to the Web site, saying the changes were based on rumors and speculation, not hard evidence.
The authenticity of the posting could not immediately be confirmed.
"I just can't believe what I wrote was actually the case, I've remained stunned and saddened over it," the user wrote.
According to Wikinews, an online news source connected to Wikipedia, the Internet protocol address of the individual is identical to that of the user who edited Benoit's profile early Monday morning. An IP address is a unique series of numbers carried by every machine connected to the Internet.
Benoit's page on Wikipedia, a reference site that allows users to add and edit information, was updated at 12:01 a.m. Monday, about 14 hours before authorities say the bodies were found. The reason he missed a match Saturday night was "stemming from the death of his wife Nancy," it said.
Wikipedia confirmed the authenticity of the time stamp and said the entry was made by someone using an IP address registered in Stamford, Conn., where World Wrestling Entertainment is based. The anonymous user acknowledged being from Stamford, but claimed no connection to WWE.
Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales told The Associated Press on Friday that officials of the site became aware of the posting Tuesday.
"The guy who's admitted to doing it said it was just a coincidence," Wales said. "He said he was hearing rumors. I wonder where those rumors came from. I guess the police will figure that out eventually."
Investigators in the Benoit case did not return phone calls Friday seeking further information.

Chris Benoit Case: Police Seize Computer Of Wikipedia Culprit
By Mitch Marconi
Jun 29, 2007
Chris Benoit Murder-Suicide Update - A Wikipedia posting announcing the death of pro wrestler Chris Benoit's wife 14 hours before the discovery of Chris Benoit and his family's bodies has become a major obstacle in the murder-suicide criminal investigation, reports ABC News.
Lt. Tommy Pope, a spokesman for the Fayette County, Ga., Sheriff's Department said, "It is unbelievable what a hindrance this has put on our investigation .... we've got to put a lot of effort and time into working to prove or disprove that someone put up a hoax situation or that somebody was conceiving the death from out of state."
Happy now Yonivore?
The idea that anyone had advance knowledge and would use that knowledge to update a wikipedia page, while doing nothing else, is ludicrous...
The posting was done from Connecticut, while the murder took place in Georgia...anyone having that info could have only gotten it from Benoit himself or someone close to him, or someone that had inadvertantly stumbled upon Sullivan's body at Benoit's house...
It's unlikely he would just leave that bit of info on the WWE's answering machine and they would update his wikipedia page and not call the cops. That'd be kind of stupid. The only two guys Benoit might have given that info too are Dean Malenko or Chavo Gurerro...and those two guys probably don't even know what Wikipedia is....and even if they do...there was a PPV going on and they were working it. And even if they did have time...
Benoit didn't even tell anyone his son had fragile x....I doubt he's going to tell someone he murdered someone before he was done doing what he had to do(in this case kill himself). I can't believe this discssuon went on this long with ya'll drawing that(Georgia Connecticut) conclusion for yourselves.
Anyway..whoever did it came forth and admitted it...
