Oh, ok, so this is a thread about what we HOPE happens, not what we think will happen.

In that case, Broncos over the Cowboys in the Super Bowl by a score of 62-0.

i think they are capable of making it to the super bowl because the NFC is wide open. im going to say Seahawks make it because the Bears lost Thomas Jones, Tank Johnson, and Lance Briggs is going to hold out. plus they have the target on their back, so it will be hard to repeat. i dont think the Eagles are going to make it cause McNabb wont last the whole season. the Saints defense is weak and i dont think they will play with the emotion as they did last year. i think the Cowboys will make it to the NFC championship game but lose to Seattle. Dallas pass rush has improved with the signing of Spencer. their secondary has improved with Ken Hamlin. its not ridiculous to think Dallas will make it that far. their was a time last year when people thought they were the best team in the NFC. plus losing Parcells doesnt make them worse IMO.

as for the AFC i pick New England. just too strong, too experienced, i dont think anybody can beat them. i also think they will become a special team, one of the best teams of all time. they're obviously my pick to win it all.

The Bears will do fine with Cedric Benson for Thomas Jones and although they might lose Briggs, they gain Mike Brown who was out for the season last year. Also, remember that the Bears made their playoff run without Tommie Harris

I love that people are overrating the Patriots. They are a paper team who hasnt won the superbowl in over 2 years. They still have to go through the Colts a team that has owned them the past few years. I see the Pats falling as their cap situation will go to hell on them after this season. The road in the AFC goes through the defending champions.

I think the Bears will have another successful year, With Brown and Harris returning, and if they can get Briggs to play, they will still have a top defensive unit. I don't think Grossman will allow them to make it to the NFC championship game however. He'll have one more year to prove himself, but I don't think he will. The Bears should of brought someone in to push Grossman to his athletic and mental limits, someone like Carr maybe. Let him know that if he screws up, he can be replaced. Much like the Chargers did when they had Brees and drafted Rivers after a forgetfull season by Brees. Who would of known Brees would of responded the way he did. Maybe thats what Grossman needs.

I agree. Grossman is the albatross around the neck of an otherwise outstanding team. I don't see another serious Super Bowl run until they make a change at the position.

Also agree with spursreport about the Patriots. Adding a few head cases to the Brady Bunch will likely do more damage than harm. Overrated offseason for them. Sadly, the (hated) Broncos have had a much better offseason and look a bit tougher than the Patsies, as long as Cutler doesn't play like a Grossman.

Grossman sucks 35% of the time. He is great 10% of the time, and he is just manageable 55% of the time. I think that if he can limit his mistakes he can't make it to another Super Bowl. Winning it is another thing, but he can make it. Honestly, it's not fair to assume Romo has the stuff to take the Cowboys to the Super Bowl then say Rex can't. I don't see Romo is any better than Rex. They both have had good games, and both have had bad games.

It doesn't matter really though. The AFC is like the Western Conference in the NBA; whoever gets in from the NFC will just lose. There are probably 4-5 teams that would beat any team in the NFC in the Super Bowl (Pats,Colts,Ravens,Chargers, and mabye Broncos of September-November(which is when they look good))

Except Romo was in the top 5 in the NFL in completion percentage, td %, completion percentage and yards per attempt. Grossman, none. If the defense hadnt fallen apart at the end of the season and Romo was forced to score as many points as he had to, maybe he wouldnt have had to force so many throws. Grossman doesnt compare what so ever.
As far as the AFC>NFC, I dont think anyone would argue that, but the Boys beat down the Colts last year before said d fell apart, and have had been pretty good against the better AFC teams the last couple of years. The last couple of SB's havent been blowouts really either, the last SB blowout was Tampa Bay killing the raiders, so to think that any NFC team wouldnt have a chance doesnt seem very realistic

You made the point before I could. I could see how someone could make that assumpion about Romo vs Grossman. You'd have to of watched every Cowboy game last year to really see the talent this guy has and how he does the little things that make a big difference. Give him a good defense, with a year under his belt and he will be a top 6 QB in this league next year.

If the Pats avoid the Broncos (A team who OWNS Tom Brady) and the Colts (Mind you they are the defending champs who also has OWNED Brady the past 2 seasons) they have a very good chance of going to the super bowl. Their cap situation is going to blow up in their face next summer with all these paper moves that has made everybody bend over for them and take it up the ass. It isn't that I mind the Pats being the favorites but the fact that a team who hasn't won the title in over 2 years is being put on a pedestal and literally saying they will be so unbeatable and so dominate that no one stands a chance in hell of knocking them out. Are the Pats a good team? Of course! But they also havent won the superbowl in 2 years so they arent unbeatable either.

Norv Turner blows. Just when you thought he'd ridden that tidal wave of being the Cowboys offensive coordinator in the 90's as far as he could, he lands another job as a head coach. Unbelievable. And Wade Phillips... Amazing that a couple of teams with real promise have these failure retread coaches at the helm. I think both will hold their teams back.

Seems to be more excitement out of the Steelers, Raiders and Cardinals camps with younger guys getting their first opportunity, equal to the excitement the Saints fans felt with Payton. Worked out okay for them. I'd find a fiery young guy with a chip on his shoulder, before I'd take a retread with a sub .500 record to lead my club any day.

You sir, are a fucking idiot. This post is all the proof anyone needs. No further comment is neccesary.

EDIT: But seeing that I have time to kill, I might as well show you why it's stupid.

First off, they won 3 SB's in 4 years. They have a genius coach in Bill Belichick who is known to be the best strategist in the NFL, as well as a coach who can control any player. They have Tom Brady, who is widely considered the most clutch (which is unquestionable) and consistent QB in the NFL. He finds a way to make plays, which is what football is all about. Making plays when plays are needed. They have added some incredible talent, as well as the most gifted WR in the NFL (whom some consider the most gifted WR in NFL history) in Randy Moss, who has had several dissappointing seasons, and is absolutely sick of losing, and sick of having a bad rap for previous personal issues that he had.

The fact is, this is still the same general nucleus of a dynasty that won 3 titles in 4 years, but with FAR more talent than they have had in any of the years that they have been title contenders, so to say the bizzare shit that you are saying, is absolutely retarded, especially when comparing them to a team that has consistently been known to choke in the playoffs, ESPECIALLY against the Patriots.

Speaking of which, I'm not quite sure where you get the idea that the Colts absolutely have owned the Patriots the past several years. last season, the Colts won 2 matchups, both of which went down to the final minute. the season before, the Colts had a pretty sound victory, however, the Patriots had quite a few injuries to deal with.

then the previous two years before that, the Patriots beat the Colts in close regular season games, then completely dismantled them and Peyton Manning in the playoffs, on the way to winning a title and becoming a dynasty.

and prior to all that, I believe the Colts with Manning went something like 2-6 (winning none in NE) against the Patriots. so up until 2005, Manning and the Colts were a whopping 2-10 against the Patriots (0-2 in the playoffs). I think the only ownage in this rivalry belongs to the Patriots. its like if I were to say the Mavs completely own the Spurs, because they beat them once in the playoffs, and had some good recent regular season sucess against them.

The Patriots advanced last year due to facing a more talented, yet less experienced Chargers team. The game was handed to them by "young team mistakes". A head butt, a terrible 4th and long shot, a fumbled interception etc. Sorry bro, the Patriots were outmatched and will deal with a Charger team that has matured since they last faced them. Any Patriots fan who believes they won because of "coaching skills" "more talent" is living in a dream world. The Patriots simply won because a certain Charger player lost their composure, and certain Charger player fumbled a game winning interception.

With that said................Chargers. By a landslide.

The Patriots are the Spurs of the NFL with Belichick equating to Pop as far as coaching skills and abilities. The system works and until Brady either leaves, gets injured or retires the Patriots will always be a threat to win it all.

well, dont forget, that the game of football is not only a physical game, but a mental game as well. thats what has made the patriots so successful, despite not always being as talented as other teams. in all of their superbowl runs, there was ALWAYS more talented teams (Colts, Titans, Eagles, Raiders, Rams, etc...) but they were always mentally stronger, and knew how to make plays at big times, and that is why they were able to become a dynasty. the chargers were more talented last year, but if they cant keep themselves controlled mentally, then that is their own fault. again, another part of football is mimizing your mistakes, while capitalizing on others. no team epitomizes that more than the Patriots.

I just hope it's not the Colts. They play cheap football. They are like the guy you play in Madden who runs no huddle and won't let you pick a defense, or they just hurry up and snap the ball to draw you offsides. I know it's football, but it's a cheap way to win.

I want to see the Bears and Ravens smash eachother up in a 10-7 game in the Super Bowl. The Bears' and Ravens's defense make all others look like choir boys. That is football, not this shit the Colts do. Plus I don't want to hear them say "Peyton Manning" 500x in one game again like last Super Bowl (official count was 348 times)

:lol At cheap football.
You do whatever you can to win and what your players allow you to do, if other teams could do what the Colts do, they would. The Pats and Steelers do stuff like the Colts do towards end of games as well, and your probably going to see more teams going with no-huddles and hurry up offenses in the years to come, so you should probably get used to it.
I could say that I thought the Ravens were cheap cause they blitz everytime like people on Madden do as well, but I wont. You do whatever works

Sprinting up to the line just to snap the ball, with no intentions of running a play other than to drive the other team offsides is cheap. I don't care what anyone says. The Pats didn't need to pull that shit for their Super Bowls. It's cheese

It's Illegal in other sports to do what the Colts do. It would be like Roger Clemens throwing a fastball by a guy who just put his foot in the batters box. It's cheese. Classy teams like the Patriots don't need to do that crap. They play within both the written and unwritten rules of the game. Even NFL players think it is cheap. Joey Porter called them out on it. He said they were scared to line up man for man on them. Even my step dad who played 13 years in the NFL said that teams would knock Peyton Manning out if he tried that bullshit back in his day.

I dont know when back in the day is, but Peyton was probably bigger thna most defensive guys even 10 years ago, so I dont think he would be getting knocked out seeing as guys now cant knock him out even when they get to him, he is a big, big dude

Maybe your right about it being cheap, but the Cowboys had no problems stopping it last year, so I dont see why other teams cant. If a team doesnt like it, stop it, thats my whole thing.

I don't watch them every game, so I've only seen it like 3 times, but he would just line them up to snap the ball then just throw it away. The whole purpose was to just get the 5 yard penalty. He had no intentions of running a play. A no huddle is one thing, but trying to draw penalties is another. I think that is cheap to just get everyone lined up so you can draw a offsides or a 12 men on the field call.

They haven't won a super bowl in 2 years and I said Manning has OWNED the Pats the past 2 years (I didn't say several I said few which pretty much means 2 meaning he has played very well against them). Broncos have only lost to Tom Brady ONCE (4-1 including the playoffs) and their starting quarterback (Plummer) at the time was out with an injury and they barley lost that game. Pats have not won a super bowl in over 2 years and they aren't unbeatable like people make them out to be. The road to the superbowl in the AFC goes through Indy. Manning isn't the same player he was during the Pats dynasty and the Pats aren't the team they used to be as well. Paper moves aren't going to make me declare them a lock to win it all. Are they a good/elite team? Fuck yeah they will be right in the thick of things. Are they so unbeatable that they won't have any trouble with anybody and should just be given the trophy? NOT EVEN CLOSE! You get bitchy at me for stirring up shit with you in threads yet you do the same exact thing. BTW the Colts beat the Pats and went onto win the superbowl so they have a right to talk some shit to the Pats. The Mavs beat the Spurs and CHOKED IN THE FINALS followed by getting their asses kicked in the first round which they haven't recovered from yet. Then again you are the same dumbass who called (and still calls) Tony Parker A FAKE ALL-STAR, unclutch and soft and said how much better Devin Harris is than him as he stepped his game up to an even higher level (something your soft star Irk who can't play defense worth a shit couldn't do) in the finals winning the MVP. :rolleyes :rolleyes Go break some windows or slash some tires with your Oakland Raider pals.

:rolleyes The Pats are overrated? :wtf How could a team that won 3 titles in 4 years with pretty much the same team excluding the offseason moves be overrated? Moss, Stallworth,Washington, Welker, Chad Jackson along with Caldwell and Troy Brown are loaded weapons that Tom Brady has NEVER had. Their D got so much better this offseason as well signing Adealis, and drafting that saftey out of Miami. The scary thing is the Pats have never been loaded with this many weapons on all sides of the ball. Not to mention they have the best coach in the NFL in Billicheck. The Pats know superbowls are earned and not given. Dont expect them to think teams will lie down for them and all. They are very well coached. Lay off the hate for once.

yeah im pretty sure the 9ers arent walking over anybody.

i think they will be battling at best with the Rams for second. i mean the Seahawks are much better than anyone in this division, lets make that clear. last year i know they only won by a slim margin but that was because of injuries to their best players. you are overlooking some of the moves they made as well with the 49ers busy offseason. the Seahawks got a two great pickups on defense Deon Grant and Patrick Kerney. i expect them to repeat easily.

NFC Championship game: Dallas over New Orleans
(lack of defense dooms Saints)

The lack of defense didn't seem to be an issue when the Saints beat the shit out of the Cowboys by 25 points last year. :)

I'm LMAO @ all of the "Cowboys over Saints" predictions. There is not one single shred of logic that would justify that prediction. The Saints are a far, far superior team to Dallas and will win the NFC going away as long as they don't have to go through Chicago in the middle of the winter again. I will be somewhat surprised if the Cowboys make the playoffs. They were exposed by Sean Payton and Drew Brees in the Superdome West.

Sean Payton knew Cowboys like the back of his hand so it was not suprising to me that the Saints beat the Cowboys late last season. He knew every player's weakness, every play, and every scheme they ran. Not so this year with a new coaching staff and coach who really knows how to get to the QB. The Cowboys will be a top 3 Defense in the league, you can mark that down right now. Saints are kind of like Suns of the NBA, alot of offense, no defense = No title.

The game was 42 to fucking 17. Don't make excuses. The Saints were the far superior team. They dominated both lines of scrimmage. And the score should have been 42 or more to 10, if not for a fluke touchdown that should have been a pick if CB Fred Thomas didn't have a cast on his hand (it bounced out of his two hands and hit TO in the endzone). The Cowboys basically had two positive plays the entire game. One 80 yard run by Julius Jones, and the fluke Owens touchdown.

The Saints exposed the Cowboys and their secondary, which has not improved. Ken Hamlin sucks. He's basically Roy Williams version 2. Having one Roy Williams in the defensive backfield is bad enough, but having two = doom. And Romo came back down to Earth after his hot start, after teams got some film on him. Romo is the new Aaron Brooks... great for a few games as a replacement his first year, and all downhill once teams figure him out. Cowboys are an 8-8 team this year.

What excuses did I make, I merely stated facts. Romo is the next Arron Brooks? You are not to bright are you. You are one of those typical fans who when you hate a team, say that team is going to suck no matter what. You want to call an entire 2008 season by the Cowboys based on one horrible game they had against a team who's head coach knew every in and out of that team? A guy who tutored Romo since he came in the league? In case you haven't noticed the whole coaching staff has gotten turned over so the Saints won't have an edge there anymore. Yes the Cowboys defense faltered towards the end of the season.... LAST YEAR. Parcells brand of football has always been conservative, but time has passed him by. With our new coaching staff we are going to be more agressive on both sides of the ball, getting after the QB and going to T.O and Glenn down the field. Go ahead and be prepared to be sorely dissapointed in you prediction, or "guess". Dude, you may watch football, but you don't know football.

Rofl. You're expecting a Wade Phillips led coaching staff with an unproven offensive coordinator to be an improvement? Haha.

BTW, Romo's QB rating in December was 77.1, which would put him somewhere between Eli Manning and Jon Kitna last year. AKA mediocre.

You obviously are just too full of shit. I'm not saying they are unbeatable, but saying they are overrated by everyone, despite being the same core that won 3 titles in 4 years, with FAR more talent than any of those years, is fucking dumb. oh, and if Manning has OWNED the Pats, why do they need the Pats to be full of injuries, and have to win 2 games in the last minute? I hardly consider that OWNING.

Oh, then changing the subject 3 times in the last couple sentences in order to make it look like your post is remotely intelligent, is classic "spursreport" posting. Stick to the subject, numnuts.

Then I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Colts or Chargers are my picks to win the AFC. Pats will be in the mix of things but they have to prove on the field that they are that same team that won 3 titles in 4 years which they havent done since their win against the Eagles in the superbowl. Paper moves dont convince me that those Patriots are back to being that team again. If the Pats end up getting past one or both of these 2 teams, I will give them their props. Until then, they will have to convince me otherwise. It is like when the Lakers made those moves in the summer of 03 and everybody was blowing them only to get humiliated in the finals. Saying Payton knowing the Cowboys like the back of his hand is not an excuse. He seriously fuckin did. He knew Parcells game plan, his knew his strategies, he knows how conservative he is on both sides of the ball. That's not an excuse, that's being real. And Payton made a great game plan to expose it. And while Phillips may be our coach and I know his track record, I think if they play the Saints now with new philosophies and new schemes in play, the final score won't be 42-17.

BTW, Romo's QB rating in December was 77.1, which would put him somewhere between Eli Manning and Jon Kitna last year. AKA mediocre.
Romo was the reason we got to the playoffs. Romo was also the reason why we had a chance to win that damn playoff game against Seattle. The game shouldn't have came down to that field goal if it wasn't for our fuckin conservative play calling and our ineptitude on defense. Our DEFENSE simply fell apart at the end of the season. We gave up to many big plays, and did not execute whatsoever. Part of that goes back to Parcells and his old style ways. It's not Romo's fault that he gets a touchdown than the defense gives up a touchdown right back in the next possession. He always had to lead the team to a comeback thus having a better chance to have that 77.1 rating with him throwing the ball all the time. He had a mediocre running game to get pressure off of him while he was at it.

The Cowboys is by far more talented than the Saints on Defense. Period. However, Parcells did not use that talent to his advantage. He wanted to win like he did in the late 80s. That was not going to happen. Phillips (which I'm not a huge fan of btw) will use the talent to his advantage because like him or not, he's a DAMN good defensive coach who puts his players in positions to make plays. While Demarcus was great, we still was one of the worse teams in sacks last year. Yes, our secondary did get better because our front four got better because our scheme got better. Pat Watkins is a player I would keep an eye on as he grows in the NFL. I assume that our defense was in the top 5 before the month of December so to hell with those stats.

Our offense is powerful. We were one of the top offenses in the league last season and this is with a mediocre running game and a passing game that had receivers simply drop to many balls. Now the offense will be much more aggressive. We will use TO in a much different manner than he did last year. Julius Jones does not have to worry about Parcells being on his back with the way he runs the football. Julius had the vision to cut back, and used his speed effectively in the open field in his rookie year. However, Parcells changed his style and what he was excelled at and you simply don't do that to a running back and thus, he's had 3 straight mediocre seasons.

Unless alot of people get injured. We are going to be better than 8-8. We have the talent to go 11-5 and to win our 17th NFC East crown. And if we do, Phillips is only here for one year because we will be getting Fisher for 2008 anyway.

All of you hating on Peyton and the Colts would shit bricks for a month if he was traded to your team. Colts have a good shot at winning the AFC again. They lost Dominic Rhodes, but watched Joe Addai become a star in the playoffs. I will never forget his winning TD in the AFC Championship where he runs into the endzone standing up, thanks to a sick block by my man Jeff Saturday. IMO their biggest lost was Cato June at linebacker, but the Colts have lost playmakers almost every year and have still been in contention.

That said the Colts probably have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this year, so we'll see how they do. I'd say they're a virtual lock to win the AFC South again, but I'll be keeping an eye on the Titans. Sucks that VY went to a team in the same division as my favorite team.

I see the Saints coming out of the NFC this year. Dallas would have probably made it to the NFC Championship if they didn't get Romo'd. I hate the Cowboys with a passion and I loved seeing Romo come back down to earth in that moment, but I think he'll get over it and they'll have a better run at it this year. Don't see them beating the Saints though.

In the AFC, the top 3 as of now in my opinion:

(1) Patriots

Hate to admit this because they are my team's main threats and rivals, but they got a hell of a lot better in this offseason. Thomas will make their D better and they improved significantly on offense by adding Moss and Stallworth after losing Branch and Givens last year. The only question mark is whether Moss will become a locker room cancer or not. If he does, they're probably fucked, but I see the Patriots as the Spurs of the NFL. If they bring in someone who will disrupt their chemistry and their system, I'm sure Belichick or Brady will stuff Moss into his locker and waive his ass mid-season. It's a high risk, high reward scenario, but it looks to me right now that Moss will work out for them. This scares the hell out of me as a Colts fan, but I think Indy has gotten over the psychological aspect of playing New England. No more looking across the field and thinking "Not again."

(2) Colts

Won the Super Bowl, but lost several players. Key loss was Dominic Rhodes, who made huge plays in the Divisional playoffs against Baltimore, and the Super Bowl. Waived a couple of good players who didn't play much or at all last year because of injury. Lost both starting cornerbacks Jason David and Nick Harper. LB Cato June went to Tampa. Normally you'd see all of these losses and think they'd be fucked, but this is the Colts. Also, look back at the playoffs and think to who made all the big plays. Marlin Jackson picks Tom Brady to punch Indy's ticket to XLI. Bob Sanders comes back for the playoffs and suddenly the worst defense in the NFL is winning a Super Bowl and shutting down marquee backs like Larry Johnson. Antoine Bethea picks Steve McNair in the red zone, a pass that would have been a certain touchdown. I don't think I'll ever forget Kelvin Hayden's pick of Grossman he returned for a TD in the Super Bowl, while almost stepping out of bounds but having the smarts to know where he was on the field and keep himself in bounds. All of these guys are young, Sanders being the one with the most NFL experience going into his 4th season now. They're all still here. Let's not forget Matt Giordiano catching up to Devin Hester on the opening play of the Super Bowl. Hester got the TD, but it was Giordiano who caught up to him and made sure he didn't get that TD standing up. The man is fast, and I'd expect to see him starting at cornerback this season or very soon.

Point is that they lost some guys, but all of the guys that made the big plays when they counted are still here. Plus the offense is going to get better with Anthony Gonzalez. He'll work out great as a slot receiver. Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Fletcher, Moorehead, and now Gonzalez. I'm sure Peyton creamed his shorts when the Colts told him they were picking Gonzalez in the first round. Well, unless he was filming another Sprint commercial.

(3) Chargers

As much as I hate Sanity, I will give his team credit. By all accounts the AFC title game should have been Chargers and Colts, but SD choked in the 4th quarter. However, Tom Brady does testify that of his long list of playoff victories, that was his toughest. That says a lot coming from a man with 3 rings. They could get to the title game this year or win the conference. In the NFL, it's not always about having the best record in the league, it's about playing well at the right time. So anything can happen.

Title game predictions:
AFC Colts over Pats. We'll play it in Foxborough this time just to give me a week of anxiety about the Colts never winning a playoff game there, only to come out and get one step closer to the repeat.

NFC Saints over Cowboys. After the Saints dismantled Dallas in the regular season last year, I think Sean Payton has their number. We'll see.

Super Bowl XLII Colts over Saints. It'll be a close one. I prefer a winning FG by Adam Vinatieri, but the one thing I would have liked to see in XLI was a TD pass from Peyton to Marvin Harrison. A game-winning one would be even sweeter.

That is true. He didn't take advantage of many of the opportunities against the depleted secondary. I said that on the zone back in January. But I will not blame him for losing that game though. He completed tough throws to Witten to get us into field goal range or even steps from the end zone. Fuck that field goal. If made, we still would have lost because our defense is that bad in last minute situations.

He's beaten us only once. How the hell does he have our number? And just because you perform well one season, does not mean you will do so the next. This is the new NFL. If this was the pre-salary cap era, I would agree. But not in today's NFL. I lost count on how many first year coaches for a team have good years, than fall flat on their asses the next. New Orleans is not guaranteed to be the team they was last year. Example : 2003 Tampa Bay with Gruden, 2003 Dallas Cowboy will Parcells, etc. etc. etc.

You have a great point with this, but I just think the Saints will fare better than past examples. Plus none of those teams had Reggie Bush, and if Brees has even close to the kind of year he had last year, the Saints will still be near the top of the NFC, if not at the top.

The Saints were successful in the NFC, but their record was 10-6. 10-6 in the AFC might get you a wild card spot. I don't see the NFC winning Super Bowls any time soon.

Man, all this talk about football has me amped for the new season. I got too caught up in the NBA playoffs and forgot how much I love this sport.

I've watched that game multiple times as well, and I really think the playcalling, not Romo missing reads downfield was the reason they didnt take advantage of the Hawks secondary. Everything about Parcells playcalling pissed me off last year, so Im glad we got some new coaches in their to hopefully make a difference.

In others words I am jealous that a team I dont like all that much has the most talented team in the Brady era. I hate them because they are so fucking successful and as long as Brady is at the helm, they will never be out of a game despite all their injuries. They know how to win consistently! Tom Brady having Randy Moss and Stallworth to throw to along with their defense getting even stronger and having a God of a coach like Bilicheck. These moves make their team so disgusting that it is hard to see them fail. Yeah I said it, the Patriots have a GREAT chance to win it all. Randy Moss will be rejuvinated with the Pats. He is going to be an up and spirited person knowing how much fun he will have with that team. He doesnt even have to be the Moss he used to be for them to win in terms of putting up monster stats. With that team it will be alot more balanced but he will easily have over 1,000 yards receiving.

I read an interview on Comboys.com that all the players are super excited about the playbook he is bringing to the table that he is very inventive, of course you would expect them to say that.
Also that Wade has a new nickel d where Roy lines up at lb next to Burnett, Watkins and Hamlin at safetys, and Ware and Spenser at the ends, crazy

I'm going to say unless Wade is totally inept and he starts to medal. We are more than an 8-9 win football team. Dallas has one of the most explosive offensive talent in the league and one of the most talented and youngest defenses in the league who only needs better play calling and to become much more aggressive in the 3-4 defense.

Thats a little misleading with wins over the Texans and Titans, but I also agree tp a point. People are acting like the AFC has just manhandled the NFC in the Super Bowl the last couple of times, but the Colts and Steeler games where closer than the score indicated, and the Pats needed 3 game winning fgs to win their games, which the NFC had a chance to win all 3. I dont think the NFC is a better conference, but I do think whichever team makes it out has a good chance to win it

My indecisiveness has worked miracles.
2005 I sided with the Seahawks to win it.

So the other side will probably be the Bears thanks to the solid coach from Texas Lovie Smith.

And XLI was actually further apart than the score indicated. Indy owned Chicago in the second half. The score should have really been 29-10, but there was that unfortunate special teams fuck up by Indy on the opening KO. I can only imagine if that game wasn't played in the rain, Indy would have blown them out soooooo bad.

I'm sure there's a little homer in me in that judgment, but no team with Rex Grossman as their QB is going into the SB as the favorites or even as an underdog with a "good chance" of winning. XLI was decided the second Marlin Jackson picked Brady in the AFC title game.

See I think your wrong on this. I'm not a fan of Rex, but I also know that winning a Super Bowl isn't all about your quarterback. The Bears can win the Super Bowl the same way the Steelers did in 2005 and the Ravens in 2000, with defense and pounding the ball down your throat. Ben Roethlisberger isn't much better than Rex Grossman. The difference is that the Steelers don't let Big Ben hurt himself. He only throws 15-20(at the max) times a game, many of these passes being under 10 yards. We saw what Ben did when he was asked to throw more in 2006 when he finished the year with one of the worst QB ratings in the league. The Bears play the total opposite of the Colts. The Colts seem to not really care about defense, where the Bears seem to do the same on offense. If Cedric Benson has a great year running the ball, and the defense is atleast 75% of what it was last year, I see no reason as to why they can't win a Super Bowl. I would take the Bears over any team in the NFC becuase their defense is that much better than every other teams' in the NFC (yeah even without Briggs). They made their playoff run without 2 Pro Bowlers in Mike Brown and Tommie Harris, and that didn't seem to hurt them.
But in the NFC, it's not as hard to get to the Super Bowl as it is in the AFC. So your really only asking Rex to not hurt you in 2-3 games. I'll take may chances with that defense.

I'm from San Antonio so I grew up with the only local team being the Spurs. And because I'm such a huge Spurs fan, I have a deep-seated hate of other Texas sports cities because I hate the Mavericks and Rockets. So I can't see myself ever cheering for Cowboys/Rangers or Texans/Astros. Though Houston really doesn't bother me as much as Dallas does. I really really really cannot stand that city and their fans.

I never understood why people go on their period when you root for an out of state team. I was a Colts fan well before they ever tasted a conference championship game let alone the SB. And I like most of the players on the Sox so that's why I like them. If San Antonio was able to negotiate to get an NFL or MLB expansion team I would instantly make those teams my favorite because SA is home to me.

And on the contrary, I have actually vacationed in Indianapolis and Boston a few times. I've walked on the field at the RCA Dome, and been to home games for both the Sox and Colts. There is a big difference between a bandwagoner and a fan, and I'm a fan.

It's hard to figure out what Browns fans think. Everyone is happy that the pieces for the future are starting to fall in the Browns' favor, which in the past was unheard of. But I think that most fans would consider 6-8 wins a sucess. Yeah, you get the normal homerism from the news and papers that expect them to win the Super Bowl, but in reality, I think they will go 6-10 or 7-9. That would give you a top 15 pick. I do not think though that they will be terrible giving the Cowboys a top 5. They were in every game last year except one to the Steelers and one to the Bengals. They were very close to winning 7-8 games last year, and I don't see any signs that they got worse over the off season. So look for a pick in the 9-14 range.

That trade is a win-win though becuase if the Browns did have a top 10 pick in 2008 that would stem from another bad season in 2007, which would mean that Charlie Frye is not the guy (which I'm sure he isn't). So in 2008 they would need to draft a QB. Brohm would probably go first to someone who will be worse than the Browns (assuming there is a team). So the Browns would have to choose from a handfull of other mediocre QBs. So with Quinn they got a top 10 talent, who is arguably better than all but one in the 2008 draft. I mean your next pick after Brian Brohm would be Chad Henne, who like Quinn, has never won a bowl game (or beaten Ohio St.), but unlike Quinn had tons of talent around him to help his chances of winning a bowl game.

The QB situation is wide open between the 3, so it could be anyone starting come opening day. I think it will be Frye. The line has bettered itself by 100% with Steinbach, Thomas and Bentley coming back. I think it will give the QB, whoever it is, more time to get the ball to Edwards and Winslow. Jamal Lewis is old, and won't be great, but he will be good if the line pans out. Their defense isn't that bad. They had secondary injury problems last year, but also had huge production from their linebackers and safties. Sean Jones should have been a pro bowler last year, and probably will be this year. Wimbley is very good, Leigh Bodden is good also. The Browns' special teams is top 5-6 in the league. All in all, I don't expect them to win more than .500, but they could suprise people.

They are starting with a new offensive system this year.
Which means that it doesn't matter who starts at QB.

They are going to suck.

We're going to have a Top 5 pick.

Darren McFadden will be a Cowboy.
What if Julius has an 1800 yard 19 touchdown type of season and Marion backs him running close to 1000 yards and having as many touchdowns as last season?

Jerry Jones has a hard on for McFaden.
And, it looks like they're not too happy with Julius because of his durability issues.

I don't think Julius will get that many yards anyway because he's going to be sharing the load with Barber all season. They're are probably going with a true Pro-set offense anyway or a close hybrid of the Saints offense from last year.

Oh great,

Does it have to be "O-face" humor? You try to relax there buddy and don't take offense to a joke about the Spurs being great on a Spurs sight on a message about "pre-pre-season super bowl pics" as anything serious.

You should know new movies have come out since then...

If those stats came true, then the Cowboys would be running the wishbone option offense and could probably use another RB anyway :lol

Nah..Think San Francisco's offense last year when Norv was the offensive coordinator. The offense will be about the same. It will do wonders for Julius. He now can run like he did in 2004 w/o the thought of BP always on his ass about his running style. BP tried to turn him into Otis Anderson. It didn't work.He can get to 1500 yards. He got to 1000 last year sharing carries under BP.

I don't think Jason Garret is going to copy the Turner Offense.

I honestly think he's going into the creative offensive style of Sean Payton. That's why Jones loves him so much. There's going to be alot of misdirection from a two-back set that's going to open the secondary for Owens, Glen and Crayton.

Trust me on that.

^^ Isn't that nearly like Turner's offense though of last year? That opened the field for Frank Gore even if they did have subpar wide receivers. It's not so much as copying. But it emulates it and it will be similar. He obviously will add his own style to it, of course. But he has been tutored and remained close to Garrett ever since he was the Cowboys OC back in the early 90s.

How many times did Turner use a pro-set offense last year?
How many plays were dependent on a two back system?

The offense Garrett will be implementing will have alot of misdirection and option plays.

I'm pretty damn sure of it.
He wants to keep the defense guessing at every moment.
I'm talking about throwing deep on first down and shit like that.

There will be some alterations to the '07 offense. Don't be shocked if it looks a little like a Norv Turner offense. The current Chargers coach was Garrett's first offensive coordinator with the Cowboys in 1993, and the two have remained close.
Also, has Garrett mentioned that he would use that type of offense he will use this season? I haven't keep up with what he was going to do since I'm out of the state and I usually do. I'll do some research on that.

But I remember watching the niners last year, and they did exactly what you are talking about throwing deep on first down if they didn't give it to gore.

But what Garrett will do is open the offense and spread the field alot more than we did last year under Parcells. Glad we won't see anymore of that conservative bullshit. It will also do wonders for Owens as there will be more plays for him such as reverses and more passes downfield. Hope we use Glenn more on mid-range routes.

Okay, from reading articles, we both are basically right. Garrett will add his own twists to his offense, but it will kind of resemble Turners AND Zampese's offense. Which is a good thing.

Anyone?
NFC Championship game: Dallas over New Orleans

AFC Championship game: New England over Cincy

Dallas upsets New England after Tom Brady suffers 7 sacks and throws 3 INT, one late in the game to Terance Newman after DWare and Anthony Spencer sandwich Brady......Cowboys welcome title number 6 to the family.

Dallas Cowboys V. San Diego Chargers

Dallas wins in an upset.

Norv Turner commits suicide in the offseason.

Well, both are in the playoffs and at least Dallas looks like it's going to make it to the big dance.
