This could be a gameblog or whatever, the only reason I made this thread is because the schedule says 12 AM EST, but it said that too for USA vs Uruguay yesterday, but the game was already over at 12 AM EST.

It's gonna be a beat down.

After Argentina loses, are they done, or can they still move on to the championship? I still haven't really checked out the format of this tournament.

No, Argentina is fine, they're undefeated. As well as USA.

ALVAREZ, you are like 12 years old and you dont have the time to check the fiba site?? You are telling me you are too busy to understand this tournament? Are you just lazy?
Dude... Semifinals on Saturday, Finals on Sunday. If Argentina wins on Saturday, they are into the Olympics, if the don't, they will have to play at another tournament next year.

Hope not. The real game is on Saturday, we should give the important players as much rest as possible tonight and avoid injuries. Like Kammerichs the other day, luckily it looks like it was just a hard hit and nothing else.

Yes, because as we all know the FO is really infallible. Every decision they make is perfect and therefore they cannot be reproach. In fact, Holt is now in the process of changing his name to "Mr. Jesus."

No disrespect to Argentina, but they aren't exactly a quality team. Kobe's been himself. Jacking up everything in sight .5 seconds after he gets the ball. I fail to see the need to bend knee and kiss his shoes because his shots are falling for now.

Actually I'm pretty happy with the game so far. For most of this players (and the coach) is the first time they face NBA elite. Normally they won't miss so many open shots.

Even more, I'd take this team to the Olympics + Nocioni. They have balls and deserve it.

I wouldn't look so much for statements out of this game. Both teams were qualified for the real championship, which starts on Saturday.

Argentina played a decent game, avoiding too many fastbreak points. Maybe our starters played too much (when Scola went down I started cursing a lot). It was a nice experience for some players that would never play against NBA caliber opposition if not for the national team. We played our basketball and it was nice, maybe missed too many 3-pointers.

And that leads me to my only complain, Delfino. Like I said, I know Hernandez gives him the green light to shoot, but this is getting ridiculous. If the coach wants Delfino's self-believe back, he should tell him to take more open shots rather than fadeaways with 3 seconds left in the shot clock.

This USA team seems very disrespectful of it's opponents and is way too cocky of a team. I kind of almost wish they DON'T win and a team like Argentina or Spain knocks them off in the Olympics. They don't deserve to be put in the same sentence as "The Dream Team" or even put in history as the team that brought the gold back to the US. Aside from J Kidd, this is a mish-mesh group of players.

Oh and if other teams are smart, they'd see that while the USA team's perimeter defense is great, courtesy of Kobe, Kidd and Company, the interior defense is quiet weak with Amare/Howard/Melo in the middle. More teams can exploit this.

Ok,watched the game last night and got to these conclutions:

1st.:This USA team is the best possible team they can put together.

2nd:they can win the Olympics

3rd:If they play with this kind of arrogance, the Argentinian,Spanish,French and Servian A fully loaded teams can beat the hell out of them, not because they arent telented, just because they understimate others.

Seriusly, they couldnt even score 100 pts to the Argentinian C team, for being just diks and arrongants.

I guess theyīll find that out in the Olympics, when all teams will be loaded like they are right now.

Nice double standard.

The US team could walk the ball up every time, shoot nothing but layups and jumpers and never crack a smile and you would still find them "arrogant" because of your pre-determined prejudice against American ball players, and probably Americans in general. I have seen European and Latin American ball players do THE EXACT SAME THING as American ball players and not once have any of them been called arrogant.

You accuse Americans of arrogance and bad sportsmanship, yet you are guilty of the same. Hell...you even brought up Iraq (with a Q by the way) for the sole purpose of anti-American hate.

It was enthusiasm. Just like when the Argies had one of their 4 pass, ball doesn't hit the floor, beat everyone down the floor for a layups...which were exciting to watch. Just like an alley-oop dunk is.

Why should the US change their style just because it is perceived by some to be showy, when it reality, its fun basketball that these players grew up with, much like the Argies grew up with their style.

are you comparing the Argentina team to a bunch of 12 year olds?

Iīm just saying that I donīt need to show off in not important games, when thereīs no one infront of you.

but thatīs ok.they say: big guys sound loader when they fall.

So if an Argentine player has a breakaway dunk against the US...you will be upset.

it won't matter...if the US did win, instead of "Good Game" or "US played well" we would here "they're arrogant"

and In S.A. thereīs the best example of:
you donīt need to be spectacular to succed, just play D and make the right choices and stops at the end of the game.

and if the Spurs had some high flyers, you would see them dunk as well.

So then, exciting, fluid basketball is ok to play, as long as it doesn't offend the Argentines.

It honestly looked to me as if the defensive game plan was to let Scola get whatever he wants because he was the only player that could cause any damage. That was pretty much the way the game went.

One thing is for certain, Scola has zero D. He knows how to foul with the best of them, however. Looks like another Thuguardo Najera type to me. Lots of passion, lots of aggression, lots of fouls, not much production.

Its amazing how much the U.S is regarded as arrogant because they throw down some dunks. Accept you got beat and move on.

According to some of the Argies on this board, dunking is only ok if you are in Sky Blue.
