If I wanted to decide every frickin' single detail of my sandwich, I would make it myself and not bother going out.

For example... I walk into my local Subway and have a look at the menu board. Ooh wow, look. There's some kind of new sandwich. It's made from some meat I've never heard of, and it has some kind of sauce I've never heard of and cheese I've never heard of and there are weird crusty things on the bread. I don't know what any of it is, but holy fuck doesn't it look good? So I say, "hey... yeah, I'll have that right there".

So what comes next? I think we all know the answer to that.

"So what kind of bread would you like on that?"
"What kind of cheese would you like on that"
"What kind of meat would you like on that"
"Would you like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, salt, pepper, oregano?"

So i just say, "I just want it the way it comes... like in the picture".

And invariably the dude is like, "ahhh, okay. Would you like white or wheat?"

ARGH!!!!

I always end up with some Frankenstein's sandwich that may or not be a reasonable representation of what I'm able to see in the picture, because they just REFUSE to make it the way it is in the picture. They REFUSE to take the responsibility that maybe I'm not prepared to face the consequences of not specifically deciding every detail of my sandwich.

If they had a standard version of every sandwich, a nice little list of items hanging on the door of the walk-in freezer or something... if there was an option to just get a sandwich "regular"... it might be different.

But no. It's not like that. Not at all.

There is a guy named Greg there who has used meat from off the floor, cut the mold off of veggies to keep using and never washes his hands and tells his employees...its ok...you have gloves on. He also insists "don't waste gloves, they can be used several times"

I actually like the sandwich place on campus because everything is customizable. They charge by weight rather than having a menu of pre-determined sandwich recipes, so you tell them everything right down to how many slices of meat you want. It's awesome.

My husband loves Subway's tuna.

He makes it easy on me when I order and easy on the person making the sandwich.
