Amare is out with knee problems - the knee that they operated on a month ago. Hopefully he'll get better; I'd hate to hear Suns fans use this as another excuse.

I think no rebounding and no interior defense are going to be the excuse this year.

Season isn't even a week old and Amare's knees are already a problem. This does not bode well for Phoenix. Without Amare, they're toast.

Suns should have tried to make a deal with the Timberwolves. Amare and somebody else for KG.

They did. Minnesota wisely (with his knee history) didn't bite. PHO shopped both Amare and Matrix this summer, and it was a source of curiosity as to how it would affect their play.

You'd hate for them to use the potential loss of their best, or 2nd best, player as an excuse?

How about Amare & the Matrix for KG? Well, I guess it's history anyway...

Just a couple of days into the season and already Amare is "overworked"? I think both Amare and the coaching staff have been far too aggressive in terms of wanting him to play ASAP. You'd think they would err on the side of caution and take it easy but it seems both player and team were trying o prove something.. plain silly if you ask me. So let' see what happens. Amare (recurring knee problems), Hill (foot/back concerns), Nash (back issue).. all of a sudden Shawn Marion's value to the team increases overnight and letting Kurt Thomas go seems really dumb.. no way the Suns are going to be quicker this year.
As for Amare, i hope he grows up quickly and realizes that he's not as invincible as he thinks.

I'd hate for them to have a ready-made excuse yet again; I'd hate the fact that they'll swear up and down "If we only had Amare" like they did this past year. "If we only had Amare in that one game, we certainly would have won a title." I don't want them to have anything to hide behind. I want to face them full-force in the playoffs, humiliate them yet again, and I don't want them to have anything that helps them hide in their own minds from the realization that they are complete failures, always have been, and probably will be for the forseable future.
If Suns fans were to say, "if Amare had been healthy, who knows?" that's one thing, it's a legitimate question. That's not what Suns fans claim, however. Their claim until the end of time (despite evidence to the contrary) will be "if Amare had been healthy, we definitely would have won everything, because the Suns are the best team in history (we just can't ever prove it or provide reasonable evidence). "

It's not his micro knee, so he should be fine. Just some precautionary stuff, he looked pretty shitty against Los Angeles, only settling for jumpers. I still wish that we traded him for KG, but that has little to do with his health, and a lot more to do with KG's work ethic and defense.

I see D'Antoni played his bench a whopping 39 minutes tonight.
Granted, Amare was out and granted they had a tough game against Cleveland, but if Smilin' Mike thinks that the solution to a starter being out is to play Grant Hill 40 minutes, they've got another burnout coming.

Skinner played very well and he should have gotten more mintues, but you got to expect guys playing major minutes when one of our starters is out. But I'd definitely like to see Grant down to 30, Trix down to 40, Bell and Nash down to 35, and for MD to distribute those remaining minutes among Diaw, Barbs, and Marcus.

Amare played great last season after microfracture surgery so I am not worried. The Suns are doing the right thing by not playing him in the regular season unless he is at full strength. They learned that lesson already.

Nearly all of your posts I dont quite understand. He's Greek, and obviously English is not his first language. It can be a little hard to understand, re-reading it a couple of times usually works for me.
I don't have a problem with his English, it's the substance of his posts that often makes me go "WHAT???" :p:

Given that the Spurs have been the forefront of bringing international players to the NBA for as long as they have, this is a surprise because ... ? :)

As a few has said already, this really makes me wonder about the coaching and medical staff they have out there in Phoenix. When I heard he was coming back that quickly from getting his knee scoped my first reaction was, "Damn this guy's superhuman." Now I'm wondering if maybe the Suns and Amare were starting to believe the same thing.
The thing I'm left wondering is why D'Antoni is riding his starters so hard in this season of all seasons. Barring Steve Nash spontaneously combusting they've got a cake walk to a division title. You know the Spurs aren't going to have the pedal down the entire season, and while the jury is still out on the Mavs doing the same thing, with the SW division looking so good I have my doubts they'll be posting 65 wins this season. I really shouldn't wonder too much because the simple answer is that Mike is as stubborn as mule and probably as good of a coach as one.

Well if this is true then that's straight. I would never wish injury on anyone. Come back fully healthy Amare!!!

People are too influenced by the media telling what should be considered "fun" and telling them that the Spurs are "boring" that they start to believe the hype even though they have never actually sat down and watched a Spurs game. Plus, nobody likes a team who wins on the regular.

Exactly. Most fans think its about getting on SportsCenter and not about getting a trophy.

Too bad for Amare. I really enjoy watching him play with Nash. Actually it's Nash that makes Amare what he is. Hope he gets better and returns. No excuses accepted.

For people mentioning the "excuse" angle, let me just say it's done. Losers make excuses, period. They always have on in their back pocket, regardless of the situation. Amare hurt, healthy... Grant hurt, healthy... suspensins, refs, mean crowd... it doesn't matter. If they are "losers" in the real sense, they wil always have an excuse ready for you.

I don't know what the Greek stereotypes are so I won't accuse you of anything, but the part with the watermelon in reference to Amare is so racially bad... but funny.

Even though I think Amare represents a lot of the traits I find annoying about the NBA (immaturity, focus on stats and flash above winning, egotistical, loud, etc.), there is no getting away from the fact that he is a rare talent and anyone gloating or wishing bad on him is a moron.

The coach with 3 first names is an idiot. He does not care if he wears out his players and evidently he is a doctor too?
PHOENIX, Nov. 5 (AP) -- Swelling in Amare Stoudemire's right knee could sideline him for the second game in a row when the Phoenix Suns begin a four-game road trip Tuesday night at Charlotte.
"It all depends on how I feel,'' Stoudemire said after the Suns practiced on Monday. "If I feel good tomorrow, then I'll play. If not, then I'll sit it out. There's no pressure being put on me by the staff or the trainers.''
Stoudemire watched film, lifted weights and did some shooting while his teammates practiced. He sat out Phoenix's 103-92 victory over Cleveland on Sunday. The all-star forward had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Oct. 2.
He missed virtually all the 2005-06 season after microfracture surgery on his left knee. The latest surgery was considered minor, and Stoudemire had come back strong before the swelling occurred.
Coach Mike D'Antoni said he was not concerned about any long-term impact.
"Maybe it's just a normal thing, just a little too much activity, maybe,'' D'Antoni said. "Whatever it is, with a couple of days' rest, he'll be fine.''
Stoudemire, the only player to appear in all 82 regular-season Suns games last season, said he is taking a cautious approach.
"It's early, I've got a long career,'' he said. "You can't win a championship in November, but you can lose one, you know what I'm saying? I just want to make sure I take my time and get back right so I'm able to go to war with these guys the next few months.''
