Aggies will win the Big 12 title. I went to Alabama game last night, and came away even more impressed than I was after NIT win. The Sophs Davis, Roland, Sloan and Junior have all improved 100% or more with the new coach, who I love, BTW. Jones and Kirk are playing at the top of their games and Jordan and Carter are potental all conference players. They need to stop having so many TOs, but with their D and rebounding, they can beat any team. They will be tested this weekend at Arizona in the Big 12-Pac 10 challenge game, so will know more next week, but right now, they look like to team to beat for title....especially since Kansas plays here this year.

Since I said that Kansas is playing here this year, it follows that I am talking about reg season title. Your team will win tourney this year.

BTW, Mike who does Ok St play in the Pac 10?

Texas won't win the Big XII regular season but will the tourney, and they will advance farther than any other Big XII school in the NCAA - to either the elite 8 or Final 4. Still not sold on the bigs, but they're better than I originally thought.

Yeah I mean the aggies only beat OSU by 20+ and then last night the buckeyes gave the tar heels all they could handle. I'm sure Mizzou is going to dominate us.

We'll know more about the aggies after the Arizona game this weekend, but considering A&M has a good mixture of depth, youth, experience, and size they will only improve as the season goes on much like Texas. There are very few teams that can match up with the physical play of our front court and we all know how Kansas deals with tough physical teams. Plus the game is at Reed Arena where the aggies are very difficult to beat unless you're Tech.
Oh yeah, and remember that time they beat Kansas last year on the road?

Btw nice job barely beating Mizzou at home and what a great defensive effort put forth only gave up 91 :clap :clap :clap . Good thing you don't have to play Providence anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped a game early on to Wisconsin, but I completely expect them to be in the big 12 race with only 2-4 losses. Much like A&M, Texas is only going to improve as the season goes on and the way they whipped Tenn was impressive.

I think they'll dominate OU and Wisconsin, but a loss to Kansas and AM in the regular season is fairly probable. I'm jacked about this game on Sunday, although I still see it as a game that these young guys can build on and learn from for conference play. I won't count them out like I almost did against Tenn, but UCLA may be the best team in the country and will be a beast on their home court. Either way, a damn good game to either reaffirm just how far they've come or to show a few areas that really need work to improve.

I haven's seen Kevin Love play yet so I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings.

UT will be alright if they don't get too excited and start throwing it all over the gym as they've been known to do a time or two in big games.

Which part is full of shit? The part where we beat OSU by 20, or us beating Kansas last year. Do you really think this aggie team cannot beat either UA or Mizzou? I wasn't saying Mizzou was a bad team but considering ATM has already beaten some quality teams this year by pretty good margins, what makes you think they cant beat Mizzou? Im just asking you to back up your own "full of shit" statements.

OSU tried the transition offense thing against the Aggies and once Turgeon made a second half adjustment we blew them out, and I guarantee that OSU team is more talented than Mizzou even after having 3 1st round picks go in the NBA draft.

But like I said, we'll see how good the Aggies are after the Arizona game. If they win then they are definitely ready to be a true top 10 team this year.

Yes, I know that A&M is 7-0, ranked #9 in both polls, and won the preseason NIT.

Missouri is 5-2, unranked, and beat Central Michigan, Fordham, Southern, and Western Illinois.

I need CaptMike to find me the RPI of those teams because I'm sure they average around 117 or less. Missouri isn't even close to being 3rd best in the B12 North, not to mention the conference.

You barely beat a team that is pretty much your equal in basketball. P.S. I love you applauding the up-tempo style of Arkansas and Missouri, while ripping on the Suns for it.

You realize Acie is in the NBA now right? You realize even with the most dominant A&M team of all time, led by the most dominant A&M point guard of all time, and coached by the most dominant A&M coach of all time, without Acie Law's last second heroics, you lose like 5 extra games? You remember that right? How it was his clutchness and his clutchness alone that actually won tight games for you last season?

I've heard some whoppers in my time. LOL. I guess you're hoping last year's 2nd string point guard turns into a Law Clone. In which case I'll eat all these words and walk away with my tail between my legs. But what are the chances? I mean, really?

The miracle worker is in Lexington. Turgeon a pretty damn good coach, but he ain't Billy Clyde. BCG can flatout effing coach hoops and he was worth at least what Acie was to the program. We'll be praising and bitching about him leaving the Dirty Dozen for a long time. As a 'sip', I even loved watching Aggie basketball the last couple of years. I was more pissed at the Memphis outcome than my Ag sister and her Ag fiance were. Turgeon might have been the best candidate the Ags could toss money at, but still, he's no BCG.

The Ags are a top 20 team, certainly, but this is a bad conference to be just a top 20 team in. Y'know? This year, a slipup to Tech and Okie State combined with a split with Kansas and Texas is enough to give the Jayhawks the conference title again. And that's with me assuming that A&M can drop K-State. Or for that matter, Kansas beating the Cats.

I won't be surprised at all by the Ags finishing ahead of UT this year and/or winning the conference tourney. Or with a 4-5 seed in the Dance. Or two wins in the tourney. But saying that the Ags will take the regular season conference title is just silly. They're just too green in the wrong areas and it doesn't help that you're breaking in a new coach. Like I said before, Turgeon is a great coach - but he's not Gillispie. Mike Sherman ain't Bear Bryant, either.

And yeah, I'll bet you wine, Extractor. The field versus the Aggies.

The refs were fairly one-sided all game long, from calling touch fouls on Kirk v. Budinger and allowing Bayless to carry the ball while tagging Sloan for it.

But it's something I've experienced for 10+ years watching Arizona State get screwed down in Tucson on a yearly basis.

It's a very disappointing loss because they were clicking so well early in the game. Last year, these scoreless droughts would be tempered by Acie taking the game over, but this team hasn't developed such a player. Joe Jones needs to stop picking up stupid fouls when he has 4 already, even if those 4 previous ones were a joke. I do think last year, though, that even when the Ags had a scoring drought, BCG's defense never let up and kept them in the game... still, he can't guard against 16 FTs.

Aggies will always have foul trouble because they play so physical, we saw that last year. If they get a tightly called game they have problems. Main problem with the team is a lack of a go-to scorer. Carter hit some big 3s to keep them in it during the 2nd half meltdown, but for much of the time it looked like Kirk, Sloan, and Carter were debating who would take over. Sloan was aggressive driving to the hoop and getting fouls but the rest of the team
seemed tentative. Bryan Davis' improvement has been awesome.

This type of game was to be expected early in the year and down the road it'll help them out.

Major props to the horns for beating UCLA, that was a hell of a game.

That guy picks up the dumbest fouls in the worst situations. He fouled out on a meaningless play riding some guy along the baseline. He gets his share of bs fouls but at the sametime he has to play smarter, and after 4 years, there isn't any hope that he will.

Turgeon is making the team play way too fast. They had 3 years of slow tempo games, and now they're being asked to do the complete opposite. Kirk is not built to be an uptempo guard and it shows when he tries to penetrate into 3 defenders and dribbles off his foot. Uptempo play negates our low post advantage, plus it is creating way too many turnovers and fastbreak opportunities for our opponents. They need to be smarter about when to push the ball.

Jordan hit 2/3 last night so he's on his way to shooting a solid 20%, he missed that gimme put back dunk which was disappointing.

What's with the Starbucks gift card bets? Seeing as how this is a very masculine sports message board shouldn't you guys be betting gift cards to strip clubs or maybe best buy instead?

It is not free at the office, since I pay for it. :)

I just like going to coffee houses, I like sitting there talking to my wife and friends or just go by myself with the newspaper, laptop or a book and chill out.

The coffee is not that expensive, I just get the plain coffee, so a couple of bucks is not a lot to spend if I am going to be in their place for an hour sitting on their couch, using their lighting or wireless internet access, right?

If Jim is still in CS, then he gets the added perk of viewing cute girls walking in and out over the course of an hour (unless the wife is there, of course).

You can't put a price tag on that.

Don't forget the fat/depressed chicks that go there for the pastries.

Not so fast, my friend....perhaps, I underestimated my chance to win this bet. Last night was awesome, the arena was the loudest ever, and the Ags played like they did last year, with good team ball and good defense. If they can whack OU this weekend, then they will right back in the thick of it.

PS I got a free teeshirt. :elephant

[QUOTE]

I believe this to be the best quote I have seen in a long time!

mr whiteley - classic aggie radicalism at its finest! I love hearing the prophecies of Osama Bin Whiteley!

Aggies got to be proud of their basketball team! Their football team has turned from the "Wrecking Crew" to the "Kitchen Crew" and seems to be mopping up their blood after every football season! I frankly love aggie basketball! A good aggie bb team means a terrible fb team!

Bring back RC Slocumb! And maybe Corey Pullig!
