Tau lost the third place game to Siena in OT 97-93.
Tiago had 15 points, 2 rebounds and 5 TOs in 22 minutes off the bench.
So basically, Tau got the same Euroleague result as last season.
CSKA is up one at halftime over Maccabi in the final on NBAtv.

Why did Tiago come off the bench? Injury? Match ups?
ChumpDumper

He had an injured elbow on his shooting arm last game.

The final game is pretty much over. A blowout. I believe Smodis has a double-double.
Does anyone think that Splitter can guard David West? (Although it may be impossible with CP3 threading him the ball on the fly.)
Mahinmi?
Not despairing, just thinking ahead.

Way to kick your own ass there...haven't been watching basketball very long eh?
Honestly, I didn't know Garnett won an Olympic gold medal, when was that?
Anyway winning the gold for US wasn't so hard back then and you can't analyze the level displayed by a player in a tournament when every game is like an all star game and that player's team wins by 30 or 40 every time.
Obviously, since Scola won a gold medal, that's not good enough for me now is it?
Who gives a fuck 'bout what you think, for Scola the Olympics were the most important tournament of his life and he played the best basketball of his career there, so what I was tryng to say is that you can't call a player a choker when that player plays the best basketball of his career on the most important tournament of his career.
Judging by the Olympics...Tim Duncan is an incompetent basketball player...and by your definition...he is a choker, because he has no gold medal...
Duncan cares more about the NBA championship than the Olympics and he's won 4 of them, so no I don't think Duncan is a choker.
So obviously...the Olympic tournament is not my judge now is it? I don't consider the Olympics to be a big deal...I know you do, but obviously it's not that big of deal to you either or you wouldn't have called Garnett(who has an Olympic Gold Medal) a choker...
Honestly, I didn't know Garnett won an Olympic gold, when was that?
Anyway winning the gold for US wasn't so hard back then and you can't analyze the level displayed by a player in a tournament when every game is like an all star game and that player's team wins by 30 or 40 every time.
Who gives a fuck 'bout what you think
Ok...who was, in your opinion, the best or 2nd best player for the team in the playoffs?
Let me guess...you think it was Scola...however, since you have already kicked your own ass in the knowledge department...hopefully you'll now understand why I don't give Rocketfan's opinion much credence.
If? If?
No if...in your opinion. You, who have already kicked your own ass in this argument.
Tough shit...
Fuck Scola, fuck him all day long, fuck him all night long...
Don't like it...I suggest you go to a Rocketboard, because here, this is a Spurboard, and Rocketplayers are going to get trashed.
It's ironic how Scola has a huge amount of dumbass and unknowledgable fans on this board...and the more I argue with them the more convinced I become I'm right.
I'm not a Rockets fan, I'm not even a Scola fan, I just can't stand when a guy talks so much incorrect bullshit 'bout a player. If a person here says that Jordan sucks I'm going to tell that guy to shut the fuck up, I don't care if I'm in a Spurboard, a Bullsboard or a Rocketboard.
(I'm in no way comparing Jordan with Scola)
IMO he does. And if you'd been a basketball prior to 2003, you'd know why.
I've been watching Basketball since the mid 90's and I never heard nothing 'bout Scola having attitude issues, what have you heard?
Anyway I said that 'cause a lot of people here said that the Spurs didn't sign him 'cause he wasn't going to accept beign a role player and that's exactly what he's in Houston and he never complained, not even when he was in Adelman's doghouse at the begining of the season.
Who can't play easily with Tim Duncan?
I also think that everybody can play with Duncan, but again, a lot of people were saying that he didn't come to the Spurs 'cause he and Duncan are incompatibles 'cause the both play as a 4 (like if the 4 and 5 positions were so different)
Not for me it wouldn't have been...I'm glad fucking Scola's not on this team...I am glad the Spurs got rid of him...now I'd just like Spurttalk to get rid of his fans or at least get them out of the main forum.
I just don't understand why Scola fans don't go to Rocketboards to talk about this overrated POS with other people who love him.
Why are you so glad that Scola isn't on this team? 'cause Oberto is so much better than him? 'cause you feel we don't need another good bigman? or 'cause the Spurs didn't sign him and you're just a blind homer.
And you could admit that my opinion is right...
I mean...Scola is the guy who is already done playing...I know, if only he and TMac had LeBron they'd have won.
That's about the stupidest fucking argument I've ever heard.
I should agree with you because it's your opinion?
:wtf
Tell you what...try not to kick your own ass in arguments in your opening statement and maybe I'll start to respect your opinion more.
In lieu of that...I'm going to continue to think I know more about basketball than you do...I'm going to continue to think that you, like 90% of the Scola fans, didn't even watch basketball prior to about 2002( and the way you kicked your own ass by saying Garnett didn't have a gold medal would seem to indicate I'm right).
Make a non stupid argument and maybe I will respect your opinion...otherwise, I don't see a whole lot of difference between you and SpursDynasty21 and ArgScolaFan, two of the biggest dumbasses on this board, who incidentally, are also 2 of the biggest Scola fans...
So I don't know nothing 'bout basketball just because I didn't know that Garnett won an olympic gold medal 10 years ago? I'll bet that I know a lot more about basketball in general than you do.
I'm not contraditcing myself...you're the one using gold medals as examples of clutchness and kicking your own ass in the process.
Again, the gold medal for Garnett not the same as the gold medal for Scola. But let me ask you this: when did I say that Garnett was a choker?
If you're going to answer me at least try to understand what I said.
Kill_Bill_Pana
05-07-2008, 03:39 PM
Anyway...I realize you Scola fans are hoping aginst hope that the Spurs lose and fail to repeat, so you can talk about what a difference Scola would have made and how knowledgable you are...
So I'll let you get back to doing that...
Try to remember that this is a Spursboard, not a Rocketboard and not to bring that piece of shit up in threads that don't concern him in the future would you?
If Spurs lose Hornet series then even you must admit mistake.

Tau advance to the Spanish league semifinal bye winning the series against Valencia 2-1.
Splitter's stat in the last game : 16 points (6/7 FG, 4/4 FT), 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, 1 turnover in 24 min.
For whottt :
Tau has done as well in Euroleague and will do as well or better in Spanish league than last year. :stirpot:
the semifinal will be against Unicaja.

That Fernandez is the best player in Europe is not, dumbass...

It looks like a Unicaja players went to the line with 8.6 seconds up by one point. The player was a 93% free throw shooter but he missed both. Tau got the rebound and Pete Mickeal went coast to coast and scored to win by a point.
From the box score, it says Splitter had 12 points, 4 rebounds and a block in 21 minutes.

Pau doesn't have the mind of a champion; Marc, yes. He's a real warrior, and his basketball IQ isn't much lower than Pau's.
I'm sure he'll be a starter next season in Memphis (if he comes to NBA)

You are right, the second best Center, PF on the Brazilian Team is Rafael Araujo(Remember? He played for Utah Jazz). So was Tiago Spliter against Dirk and Kaman and more two 7´0 players from Germany team. He did what he could, without help he played a solid game.

But now Rudoy says his client, Tiago Splitter, a first-round draft pick of the Spurs, wanted to come to the NBA but could not afford to turn down his European offer.
“Splitter was 100 percent committed,” said Rudoy. “He wanted to come. But his team made him an offer (equal to $5 million annually) that he couldn’t say no to. All his intentions were to come to the NBA. So I also think you may see NBA teams not taking European players in the middle or late in the first round (with guaranteed salaries less than $2 million annually).”

If the numbers are these, no way he could have accepted to play for spurs!!!
However, this case should give the "suggestion" to chance the rule abiout the draft...
I actually think the amounts regarding salary cap and the money for first draft choices are good rules...and you can't change them totally because the thing works only if everybody makes money.
Imho the rule could change in this way, for draft choices : after at least two years away from the club that drafted the first choice, to the team should be given the chance to match any amount of money offered to the player, avoiding the restrictions...like for 2^ round choices.
The point is that nba teams, in case of market value absolutely evidently larger than the one provided by the draft numbers, must have the chance, at least after two years, to compete in the free market overseas...
