View Full Version : Patriots and ratings

This morning on Mike and Mike they were talking about how the Patriots ratings are off the chart because this is the best football team ever and everyone is excited about them possibly going undefeated. Why don't people get this? The reason most people watch the Patriots is because they hate them and they want them to lose. I know that's why I watch. They also mentioned that everyone plays against the patriots with a chip on their shoulder because every team feels like that's their Superbowl. I would guess that it would be because they got caught cheating at the beginning of the year and they are undefeated. That would be enough reason for me to want to take someones head off.

why does anybody care if the Patriots lose a game? isn't it to be expected?

all i hear on these boards is how overrated the Pats are, how Brady isn't that good, how Moss is a pussy, how Welker is a fluke, how the defense is overrated and sucks. Since they suck so bad, everyone should fully expect them to lose, right?

so what's the big deal?

Who's saying Brady isn't that good? Most people think he's an arrogant douchebag, like every man on the Patriots roster right now. Fucking Patriots blow out a team and then go in front of the press and say "We still have to get better. We had 2 false starts today and that's unacceptable" like they are fucking above a false start. Most people hate the Patriots because that entire team is acting like a bunch of cunts right now. Any record they break, they don't deserve.

That's actually irritating the shit out of me. The way Brady & his receivers keep bitching about physical play on them is pretty stupid. The Patriots perfected physical play from the corners on the other team's WR's. Deion Branch & David Givens got the same treatment but instead of crying about it, they beat the physical coverage and got open. All this bitching and crying about physical coverage makes Brady & Moss look like Manning & Harrison.

Gregg Popovich doesn't go in front of the press and say "We've played against better point guards, I'll tell you that much". Tim Duncan wouldn't say "I saw Avery Johnson calling for time out, otherwise I would have made that bank shot." This season the Pats are being nothing but cunts. What they won't be able to handle is a healthy Colts team. They beat an injured Colts team by 4... no Harrison... Gonzalez leaves the game with a broken thumb... Clark gets a concussion. I think the recent weeks proves how much better the Colts are when Peyton has more than just Reggie and the Backup Singers to throw to.

Addai owned the Patriots too. Expect a repeat performance.

12-11-2007, 11:16 AM
The Colts offense with Reggie Wayne as the primary receiver and the likes of Aaron Moorehead, Bryan Fletcher and Ben Utecht isn't going to do shit against the Patriots. With a reduced offense like that, a defense knows that if you take away Reggie, Peyton has a bunch of scrubs to throw to and isn't going to put up his usual numbers...

Now, they get Harrison, Clark and Gonzalez back for the rematch... that spreads the offense with two deep threats and two threats in the middle. Peyton can run the 4WR set and 3WR bunch he was working on early in the season again. It's an extreme underestimation to say by having his full complement of wideouts that he does not throw a much better game than he did. The Atlanta Falcons have a better passing offense than what Peyton was working with by the end of the NE game.

I have to agree. This year, Brady has really acted like a total arrogant douchebag. Not just on the field, but in interviews after games. Pats fans like Mono will probably say "he has 3 rings, so he can act however he wants." But just because you can, doesn't mean you have to. There are plenty of great players that didn't act like total whiny twats just because they had accomplished careers.

Up for debate: Does Peyton try to re-break the TD record next year? If Dungy retires and they get a coach with some balls... it could happen.

Sucks though that Peyton really deserved it and he has to give it up three years later to a cunt like Brady.

Dante Cullpepper is/has been horrible since he hasn't played with Moss. That goes to show that if you put a competent QB in front of a great line with Moss going deep, getting double and triple coverage, opening everything up underneath for guys Welker, Watson and Stallworth, and yeah, a QB is going to put up some stats. I don't think its fair to hate him for that. i just hate the way people sniff his jock over that. Manning could toss up 60 or 70 TDs easily with the team they have and the playcalling that they are using. Another thing people don't realize is that playcalling had a LOT to do with the record that Manning set, and the subperb season Brady is having. IMO, as great as Manning was, I thought that there were more deserving players for MVP that season, such as T.O. I think his effect on the Eagles was incredibly valuable. They turned into a good, consistent 11-12 win team, into a dominant force in the league, consistently beating the hell out of oppenents (they easily could have went 15-1, but they pulled their starters in the last two games). And a healthy T.O. could have been the difference between winning and losing a 3 point SB, as there were a few instances where it was very obvious he didn't have the explosiveness to pull away from his defenders. I know at least once, he had a lane that if he was at 100%, he would have taken it to the house, easily, but his cut came a little too slowly and he wasn't able to pull away like he could have.

You're full of shit. You only say that because he left and went to the Colts. Before he went to the Colts, you were always raving about him being the greatest and most clutch kicker ever, then the day he went to the colts, you started whining like a fag about him being overrated, a traitor, etc...

Scott Norwood was in great position to win a SuperBowl with a kick, and choked it away. John Kasay simply had to keep his kick inbounds to give his team a chance to keep the game alive and play in OT and screwed that up. Position obviously means nothing. Execution is everything. Adam Vinateri executes when he is needed to.

In fact, when people were complaining about how Kasay screwed that whole SB up by kicking it out of bounds, despite being a VERY good kicker, you were the one saying "thats what distinguishes good kickers from the best ever... Vinateri hits the most important ones no matter what, and thats why hes the greatest kicker ever, etc..."

2006 alamo bowl & 2007 holiday bowl...pretty sure those aren't BCS games. while USC is in back2back2back rose bowls....thats a BCS bowl, btw.

enjoy your bowl games and A&M beating your ass again next year. oh yeah, 38-30...

They play in the weakest division in the NFL

When did they move to the AFC West?

Ooh...tough call, both are pretty bad.

Current standings:

AFC East
Patriots 13-0
Bills 7-6
Jets 3-10
Dolphins 0-13

AFC West
Chargers 8-5
Broncos 6-7
Raiders 4-9
Chiefs 4-9

I would have to give the nod to the East as being the worst. Although the NFC West could make a claim too.

The Pats will be even more hated when they keep this core and add McFadden to the mix. I cant wait. I am already getting excited! This team will be even better next season.

There's probably one player on the Pats team I hate almost as much as Belichick and that's Junior Seau...that fucker is nothing but a hanger on. He's nothing more than Malone and Payton...trying to hang their way to a title.

I want the Patriots to lose a game and lose in the playoffs just to keep Seau from winning a title.

If they win the SB this year, then they can definitely be considered one of the greats, if not the greatest (I still think the 93 Cowboys are the best though). But they haven't won a championship, and until they do, that talk of being the greatest ever is absurd.

The current Patriot defense is not as good as their previous three SuperBowl winners. They are good but not dominating or versatile as they were in the past.

The current Patriot offense has great stats but like I said, that is because they pad their stats when the game is in hand. They don't run out the clock, they run up the score. And I agree, they are one dimensional.

If you look at their stats, you would think they were the greatest offense to ever play the game. But I don't think that's the case at all.

The Colts defense has been playing lights out all season, and hasn't seemed to roll over and die without Freeney like some expected. The Pats D is a mirage... teams are forced to throw because of ridiculous play calling like 60 yard TD passes to Moss on fucking first down. It's easy to have a kick ass pass rush when you know your opponent is going to throw on all downs for three quarters.

Am I the only one who was laughing while Willis McGahee and Willie Parker dragged the NE defense over the first down line after it look like they were going to get stuffed for a two yard carry?

You are lowering usefulness of the "quoting a post and rewording it" forum trick to the equivalent of "yo mama" jokes each time you do it.

If they go 19-0 this Pats team will be the most dominant team ever, but they won't be the best team any more than the 17-0 Dolphins team will be considered the second best.

The Browns are going to knock them out. You read it here first. :lol /insanity

Agreed. It is exactly like the Colts D used to be. Great looking defensive stats, but mainly built up against crappy teams that they could score at will against, and stop with ease because the opponent had to pass every down just to have any chance to keep up with them. Good teams that can score at the same rate and defend them properly, will give them problems, such as the Colts and Cowboys.

Yeah, because I really give a shit that the Pats are going to get the second or third pick and I give a shit even more that your way of "enjoying the good times" is trolling a Spurs website...

The difference between you and me is that I don't go on a message board for a completely unrelated sports team to troll people talking about the Colts. Whether or not people like what the Pats or doing, think they cheated, want them to go 19-0, etc., is a hot topic all over the fucking country. So, me talking about it here and replying to your posts for god only knows why is normal... your pathetic attempt to troll people here on the other hand is laughable, and you tell me to get a life when all of your posts are "Boston! Greatest team ever!" "Pats are the greatest in the history of the NFL!" or you quote someone with some reworded garbage and just say "fixed."
