Cowboys 31-24. Second best game of the week after the Jags upset of the Pats.

Who do you got?

If TO isn't 100%, the Giants have an outside shot but I still think the Cowboys win.

The Cowboys should win this game. The Cowboys have like three times the talent. It'd be a massive choke job.

Although, the more I think about this game, the more I think the Giants have a slight chance. If you can get a rush in Romo's face consistently, Romo turns into an average QB ... and the Giants have shown an ability to rush the quarterback.

If this game were in New York, I'd say the Cowboys would easily take it. But the Giants are much better on the road, having not lost since Week 1 ... and that Giants team is nothing like the current Giants team.

For the Giants to have a chance, Strahan and Umenyiora will have to get pressure consistently. I'll say the Giants slow down the Cowboys but the Cowboys pull out a late victory. Unless, of course, Romo chokes again.

I wonder if there is any legitimacy about the old addage that it's difficult to beat the same team three times in one football season? From all of my years playing football I've never played the same team three times in one season so I have absolutely no idea if there is any validity to it at all. If so, then that's one thing the Giants have in their favor. Not much else, though.

The Giants have been hot lately while the Cowboys had some letdowns in the last few weeks. That might play out better for the Giants, but the Giants one road loss was at Dallas. If the Cowboys can polish their game and start playing like they did the first 3/4 of the season, they will probably win it fairly convincingly.

The Cowboys have been run on these past few weeks and the Giants have been a solid running team recently. The pressure they will create on Hollywood Romo will cause him to throw at least 2 ints and the Dallas running game will be nonexistent. I expect Baby Manning and the Giants to win by 3. The difference will be in the coaching where Tom Coughlin's playoff record is far better than Wade Phillips'.

Giants have beaten shitty teams while losing to all the good ones. Lost to the Cowboys twice,Packers,Pats and beat the 49ers, Bears, Jets, and 2 average teams in the Skins and the Bucs. The Giants are overrated and arent anywhere near an elite class. Cowboys will pick them apart easily.

The Giants' running game concerns me greatly, as is the similarity between this year's Cowboys and last year's Mavericks. The Cowboys have had zero rhythm and everyone in the stadium is going to tighten up WHEN the Giants get out to an early lead, even though the Cowboys trailed in just about every game this year. They really have no excuse whatsoever to lose this game; you might see Garrett promoted to Wade's position if they do. If they can't handle the pressure of this game, then they aren't super bowl contenders and might as well not waste my time.

To guage much of anything from that performance by the giants yesterday would be difficult. The exhibition of football by TB was one of the worst I have ever seen. The missed tackle for the second (?) giants TD by Derrick Brooks looked like a high school player. That score, along with giving NY three points at the beginning of the second half with the fumble on the kickoff was awful. Jeff Garcia's lousy pass to Galloway that was intercepted by NY wasn't even close to the receiver - a rotten throw. Tampa's offense was absolutely horrible all day long and never put any pressure on NY after the first quarter.

I'm reading in the Dallas Morning News that TO will very likely be a go next week. In addition, Terry Glenn will now be out there and has the ability to stretch their defense. Jason Witten, Patrick Crayton, Marion Barber, Sam Hurd, Tony Curtis, Julius Jones (even him) and the rest of the crew will be fully healthy. New York has had trouble containing any of these guys and not just TO. Dallas' O-Line is much better than TB's as well. The injured Jeff Garcia could not get the ball to the injured Joey Galloway (his only real threat) because the Giants kept running by TB's green O-Line and hitting the quarterback at will. NY will not be able to get to Romo nearly as much.

The BSPN network seems to almost ignore the absolute fact that Jeremy Shockey will most definitely NOT be playing. Against Dallas, that is the guy who seems to be the one who consistently keeps drives going more than anyone over the years.

Buress is the main threat now and with a completely healthy defense he can be limited. His three touchdowns in the first game of the season was helped greatly by Terrance Newman being injured and out of that contest.

Eli's fragile psyche will be fractured next week because he won't be able to dink and dunk his way down the field like he did with Tampa. Someone will get there consistently and pop him in the mouth. E. Manning's hang dog face will return when that happens.

Dallas will be motivated with most of the media now writing them off. [Especially BSPN - home of the unabashed Giants ass kisser and fan Linda "Mr. Ed" Cohen. Can't stand that chick - she needs to go out to the pasture soon.]

Brandon Jacobs will probably say something stupid again and then do nothing on the field to back it up.

Jason Garrett has been with the Giants as a player recently and knows those guys pretty well. He will continue to devise something to keep their defense off balance. Dallas should be able to move on to the next game.

I don't like the looks of this game. Giants on a roll and the cowboys in a month long funk..toss in the cowboys have beaten them twice already...

In all honesty this Cowboy teams seems a bit mentally weak to me.... not a good thing when playing a hot team.. I hope I'm wrong but I see a replay of the Bucs game only this one will be in Irving..

Giants are clicking. Cowboys havent played a meaningful game in like a month, and are likely to be out of rhythm. I have to say it looks like the Giants will win, but the Giants do have a reputation for choking when it matters most.

They are a young team so yeah it could help.

I also like how the media, ESPN specifically, has the attention span of 1 week and are picking the Giants to win. So now they, not the redskins anymore, are hot shit, and are going to roll the Cowboys this weekend.

The big thing in the matchup is no Shockey, who typically does well against the 'Boys. Also, the Giants pass rush is overrated. Only once this season have they registered more than 2 sacks against a team NOT in the bottom half of the league in sacks allowed. And now that Eli thinks he's Peyton, he will turn back into Eli. I say Cowboys force him into 2-3 turnovers. And with T.O. back, the Giants can't afford to stack the box which means a big game for MB3.

ESPN also reports that Romo spent the "Bye WEEK", not weekend mind you, in Cabo.

Dallas has been struggling on offense as of late, they really need to get it together now. If TO is not back 100%, they could be in a little trouble. They really need Romo, Witten and Barber to step up big. On D Newman and Williams need to have a good day as well. With the boys at home I think they pull it off, but not easily.

The Cowboys have sort of had this wrapped up for a while. They haven't really had a meaningful game since the Green Bay game. The Philly game was a big game for the defense, and the defense played well. They had to beat Carolina, not knowing Chicago was going to beat the Packers, and they did that. The Giants look much more focused as they've basically been in the playoffs for a month and needed the Pats game to try to get some momentum.

I keep arriving at the conclusion that this is the Cowboys' game to lose. If both teams come out and play their best, Dallas advances. If they show up without focus or take the Giants lightly they'll get embarassed. Even a sloppy close win is going to subject the Cowboys to a nightmarish week of answering questions due to the expectations.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/reuben_frank/01/09/romo/index.html

Tony Romo's late-season slide wouldn't be so alarming if it hadn't happened last year, too.

Tremendous start to the season, tons of long-range touchdowns, huge passing performances, Pro Bowl selection -- the works. And then something happens in December.

Romo is 15-3 in his brief career through the end of November, and he's 3-6 from Dec. 1 onward.

Maybe it's a fluke. Maybe he's just been a little banged up late in the season -- Romo did play the last three weeks with a sore thumb on his throwing hand. But maybe it's more than that.

Last year, Romo had a monstrous 110.8 passer rating going into December and then a pedestrian 77.1 mark the last month of the season. And the Cowboys, who looked so good in winning four straight games soon after Romo replaced Drew Bledsoe, lost four of their last five games, including the playoff downer in Seattle.

This year, Romo took a 107.7 passer rating into December, and the Cowboys were 11-1. Since? He has a 50.7 passer rating and the Cowboys head into the playoffs having lost two of their last three games, including a blowout at the hands of the Redskins that was meaningless for Dallas but in which the starters played well into the game.

So far in his career, Romo has had six truly bad games, which we'll define by a passer rating under 60. Five of those games have come in his eight December starts.

Romo has already been anointed the Next Big Thing, although he turns 28 in a few months, is completing his fifth NFL season and has yet to win a playoff game. In Donovan McNabb's fifth season, he reached his third NFC Championship Game and won his fourth and fifth playoff games. Ben Roethlisberger had already won a Super Bowl by his 24th birthday. Heck, even Eli Manning -- who came out of college a year after Romo -- has more playoff wins.

That's why Sunday is so huge for Romo. It's a mandate on hype vs. substance.

But as the Cowboys-Giants game approaches, something is askew with Romo and the Dallas offense. And although the Cowboys should be able to escape the Giants at home, even with Terrell Owens still hobbled, this just doesn't look like a championship offense. There's something missing, something that has slipped away for the second year in a row.

Last year's slump began after a win over the Giants. It was a game the Cowboys won despite a poor performance from Romo. This year's slump began with a loss to the Eagles.

Both games had one thing in common. The Giants and Eagles both got to Romo. They not only hurried him, but also they hit him, intimidated him, changed the way he played the game. And in both cases, the battering he took seemed to have a lasting effect.

The numbers bear this out: Romo has been sacked just 25 times in 19 career starts from September through November (1.3 per game), but 22 times in nine games the rest of the season (2.4 per game).

No quarterback likes to get hit, but Romo dislikes it more than most. And when teams are able to reach him -- no easy task, because the Cowboys' offensive line is awfully good -- it affects Romo more than most quarterbacks. He rushes throws, gets skittish in the pocket, makes mistakes. Costly ones.

Romo is effective -- and often brilliant -- when everything lines up perfectly. When the Dallas running game is churning out yards, Owens is healthy and terrorizing cornerbacks, and pass protection is stout, it's almost impossible to slow down the Cowboys. When things start to fall apart, he often isn't able to handle it.

That's why teams more and more are focusing their defensive efforts on doing everything possible to pound Romo, even if means giving up some big plays in the process. The Eagles did it in Week 14, sacking him a career-high four times, and Romo completed only 13 passes and threw three interceptions. The Redskins did it in the regular-season finale, and although the game didn't count, the hits did. Romo completed only seven of 16 attempts with another INT before leaving.

The Giants will try the same. They led the NFL with 53 sacks during the regular season, they beat up Jeff Garcia in their win over the Buccaneers last week, and they've been successful the second half of the season generating consistent pass pressure. But the risk is clear: When you don't get to Romo, he's tremendous. He'll pick you apart. When you don't get to Romo, you're going to lose.

There's a weird all-or-nothing to Romo's career so far. He's started 28 games, and performed at one extreme - either great or awful -- in almost every one. If a passer rating below 60 is bad and a passer rating over 85 is outstanding and the 25-point huge gap in between is average, Romo has been outstanding 21 times, terrible six times and average just once.

So the key is to figure out ways to pound him to the midsection, upset his rhythm, force a few mistakes, and get him out of his comfort zone. When he has time in the pocket and starts rolling, he's impossible to beat. But once he starts playing poorly, he rarely stops.

Just because you think its an excuse doesn't make it so. You can assume that it is but your assumption would be incorrect. You posted the article to prove your point that there is no way possible that Dallas can win. I just followed up on one of the stats mentioned. Nowhere did I once guarantee a Dallas win in fact I have said if Dallas plays like they have the last month I think they will lose. If Dallas plays like they are capable of, they have a very good chance to win. I'm not making excuses for anyone or anything. You seem to think Dallas has no shot...I happen to think they do. The question for you is this...I will still be here if Dallas loses, will you be here if they win?

I love how the Giants are making a big deal out of their moral victory against the Pats. That team has no chance in a postseason game to even hang with the Patriots. Overrated chodes will be lucky to even win another playoff game.

That's not what you were saying when the Cowboys had a "moral victory" over the Pats simply because they were the first team all season to be beating them at halftime.

How many "and goals" do they get? Three?

Everyone gets 4 downs. "And goal" means that they're close to the endzone. Every 10 yards get's you a new set of "downs" (4 of them). When you get this close to the endzone, you can't get a new set of downs because there isn't anymore room to gain a new set of downs. So, they say "and goal" instead of the number of yards needed to get a new set of downs.

We should probably pick a day when there are at least a couple of games back to back to make sure I really have caught on. :)

Football might not be your sport. After all, there aren't many soft shitty euro players in the league.

On Sundays, you can watch two games in a row from noon to about 6pm, then wait an hour and another comes on. That's plenty of games for you to learn.

But if peewee starts trying to teach you about betting on football, run like the wind!

Defense just isn't consistent enough to do the things we really need to do to win games in the playoffs. Let's just hope the defense is hot in the 2nd half, because they were cold for most of the 1st.

Offense needs to stay consistent and keep working them over. The Giants D should be worn and tired in the 4th if the Cowboys can keep working them, especially if A. Ross is out. Great iso blocks up front for Marion by the O line, they look strong against one of the weaker run fronts of the Giants. Get this win.

The basics are remarkably simple, I think; in some ways, it's easier to understand than some of the more basic points of basketball. I'm sure that you'll catch on very quickly.

Do you little boys like picking on Angel? You can't hang with the men so you insult an innocent girl with a genuine interest in becoming a football fan?

Fucking pussies!

She talks a lot of shit whether you see it or not.

I've never seen too much evidence of that. Angel roots for teams and players she likes, but I don't see her running too much noise -- certainly not as much as most around here do.

I agree. The defense was like Jekkyl and Hyde out there, they need to show the same high level of intensity every time they are on the field. If they do that, no way the Giants can hang in the second half.

Chickenshit penalties. One flag on NY in the half with all the after the whistle bullshit from that bitch Jacobs. May there be a cart in the near future for that coward number 27.

I have seen her with a jab here or there but she would never curse or tell you that a post is worthless, and she would never insult someone who wanted to genuinely become a fan.

But, if you get butthurt over Angel_Luv smack, I would hate to see you go up against a real shit talker.

Dirk is probably referring to the mess I sometimes talk about the Mavericks.

I would think though that he ( she?) would be pleased that I am finally supporting a team from his part of Texas.

Thinking is clearly not your strong point.

Now, that is a very strange thing to assume about a person you don't know.

Especially when you just compared a franchise with the most World Championships in the NFL to a professional basketball team who has never won jack. Apparently thinking is clearly not your strong point.

I believe the Eagles would be more like the Mavs.

You're making no kind of fucking sense as usual. Just stick to watching the game and act like you know what's going on.

No, Shoog just likes to rile up Spurs/Cowboys fans by comparing them to Mavfan, since Mavfan would also be a Cowboys fan. Best just to ignore him when he acts this way.
