I didn't like seeing Manu clutching that hand again. I almost wish they would just sit him until he doesn't have to wear that stupid splint. It's obviously affecting him even though he says it doesn't. I hope this finger injury doesn't linger on for the rest of the season and affect his shooting:(.
I feel really bad for Manu, it looks like his hand/splint is really bothering him...and when he got fouled, it was a slap right on his bad hand...

Spurs are becoming like what Mavs used to be (and sometimes still are).....living and dying by jump shots. Its sad. They seem to have forgotten that they have a Hall of Famer in the post
so finally the brain dead Parker realizes he should dump the ball into Duncan and we have 3 pt. play. TP, you have an easy job. jUst get the ball into tD.

Did some spurs fan say that the 4 Down is an awful play? They are wrong.
I don't know why they don't pass it into TD more to start the play. inside-out makes way more sense than endless dribbling around only to see a crappy jump shot as time winds down.

If you watched the game, the wide open shots for Manu started happening when they initiated the play by dumping it down into Duncan, and sure enough, one of the Philly wing player would double down and TD would swing it back out to Manu for an open 3. This is so much easier than for Manu or TP to try to slither their way through the paint for layups in a half-court set. Pop should really go back to 4 Down more often until the defense stops doubling up TD (in which case TD could get his 35+ when single covered).
I think the Spurs in the recent years have become more guard/penetrate oriented team....perhaps too much. It seems to me that we should go inside more often and let TD dictate what the defense does, and then make his decision/play. IF they double him, he can dump back out to TP, Manu, fInley, or Bowen and they can do their thing whether its drive penetrate or shoot the 3's. I notice that when the ball stays in the guard's hands and they try to create on their own with TD standing around in the perimeter, it's usually not easy to get an easy basket.
Yes I know TP has become a star (as Gino) but TD is a force they should be using more, not as a second fiddle. We are talking about a Hall Of Famer who now more than not DEFERS to TP and GIno most of the time? I don't get it.

BECAUSE Duncan would have taken Dalembert one on one and go to the rack with his post moves.
Did you not watch the game? All the threes that Gino hit were wide-open. Why do you think that was? Because they forgot about him? Not likely.

Tim was fantastic from the second quarter on! He kept the Spurs in the game and he deserves the game ball!
Agreed, he was the only one who got things working for from all over the court.
Played pretty perfectas a leader, knew when to help his teammates, and then brought his O game tonight, by finishing strong a lot.

Tim was fantastic from the second quarter on! He kept the Spurs in the game and he deserves the game ball!
As soon as he came back in the game in the 4th qtr., the spurs stopped jacking up contested jumpers and used TD in the low-post to initiate. Then everything started to open up.
The issue I have is that Spurs only go to TD when they can't hit their jumpers and initiate the flow via their guards. They have it ass-backwards. They need to dump it into TD and let him create.
I know this is only regular season but the Spurs are becoming too much like the MAvs....living and dying by 3's. Mavs have to do this because they have no low-post dominant player but the Spurs have TD down in the paint? WHy waste his talent until its very tight and the game is on the line?

yeah, I hope he rides off this too, in his shooting confidence with that splint. You could argue that the game up until the 4th quarter was looking like another episode of the New York Knicks game.. so yeah, he definitely helps get the W easier for us.
Iggie and them were probably expecting to grind it out, with the Spurs playing so poorly, then Manu hit back to back to back to back threes and it was over.

The defense was..... average. We did hold them down except for the third quarter, but we should have dominated this team on both ends.
As for effort, I would only say that we showed effort in the fourth and not even for the entire quarter. We once again started the first quarter hot and then could not hit the side of a barn the rest of the way. Thank God we kept it close and Manu exploded in the fourth with his flurry of threes. If not, we would have been looking at another loss.

Duncan did have a steady game. He was getting double and triple teamed the whole game. So, to have only one TO was good. He was great on the boards and seemed to turn up the defense in the fourth when we made our run. It was not a glaring dominating performance and most fans would not have noticed his great play throughout the game. But this was a typical Duncan type effort. He puts in the work and quietly makes a difference in the game. The last few games, when the whole team has been struggling, Duncan remains steady. Gotta love him!

We did hold them down except for the third quarter
They held them to 19 while not being able to make a shot.
Holding any team below 20 in a quarter is good D.
Sorry they didnt hold em to 11 :lol
