When all else fails, just let Fin jack up 3's.

I don't really blame Finley. He was 2-4 at the half and Pop pulls him 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter. Bring him in and force feed him when the game is already over.

I just don't understand how the starting shooting guard gets 4 shots in 12 mintues play.

This has actually become quite humiliating. The Spurs have sucked lately, but they are really pushing that tonight. You have to hope they can't get any worse or continue to play as badly for the rodeo trip.

ANYONE that thinks the Spurs are not worse this year than last year is freaking wrong. Spurs are looking to fall apart here.

THIS IS IT. this is the point in the season RIGHT NOW where the Spurs have to stand up and fight through this. MUST NOT GIVE UP. THE PLAYERS have to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror.

jumper, jumper, jumper has got to stop. I'm sick of seeing 16 points a game in the paint while the opposing team has 40 points in the paint. GOTTA STOP THIS SOFT jump shot shite and take it to the RACK. If the Spurs just jack up jumpers then they'll come back from the RRT 1-8. Start taking it to the hole.

I'm going to say it again START IME. The Starting 5 usually let's the other teams starters get rolling and drain every shot they take thus leaving Manu and the bench in a hole when they come in. Having Ime's defense would help a lot out there.

Seriously, the way the Spurs are playing they don't look like a second round team. There are no bright spots right now besides Ime. They don't rebound, the D is just atrocious and I hope the "it's just (whatever month it is). Don't worry." excuse isn't what we are hearing in April when we are jockeying for position with Denver, Portland and whomever the the bottom four teams will be instead of Dallas, Phoenix and New Orleans.

td4mvp21
01-26-2008, 10:46 PM
I actually say start Udoka. He's basically the only person playing with any tenacity and intensity, as well as the only fucking person on this team not named Tim Duncan that has consistently been hitting his shots over the last 5-10 games. He'd bring good energy from the start and then you bring Gino in off the bench.

We need another scorer from the bench who can play defense that is why it's good to have Ime playe with Manu!

I think Ime would be more productive starting. That starting 5 is rubbish. They're not doing anything for us right now. Ime doesn't get enough shots or court time off the bench. Finley and Ime need to switch minutes. Michael needs Ime's 12-15 minutes a game and Ime needs Michael's 20 + a game.

And the Hornets are a good team, but they won't go far in the playoffs. They have NO interior defense, and their perimeter defense wasn't too impressive. They have great offense but they are a jumpshooting team. Those aren't going to fall all the time in the playoffs. We might not beat them but Dallas, Phoenix, hell even Denver or the Lakers will.

The Suns don't have interior D either. And Dallas is a soft jumpshooting team for the most part. So far it looks like the Hornets are better than both, their only knock is their bench. Hornets are 2-0 vs the Suns and 1-1 vs the mavs. I think they could make a lot of noise in the playoffs.

Nope the bench would be non existent if you do that. What I would do is start Manu in the 3rd quarter, rest him in the middle of the 3rd bring him back to finish the last couple of minutes in the 3rd, then again start the 4th rest him in the middle and bring him back in the last 5-6 minutes.

loveforthegame
01-26-2008, 10:52 PM
Starting Ime might work only because he'll get more shots starting than what Finley does. Of course, Finley won't get any good shots off the bench with the other bench guys.

Ice009
01-26-2008, 10:54 PM
Listen he is going to get less shots with Duncan and Parker out there. WHy do you think Pop decided to bring Manu off the bench because he sometimes wouldn't even have 1 shot when he played with the starting 5

Ime will bring more toughness, defense, rebounding, energy into the starting 5. I'm not saying to start him for his offense only. Maybe this way the Spurs won't always let the other team get off to hot starts and be in a hole everytime the bench comes in. A TONE needs to be set at the start of the game and the Spurs have to follow through with it for the full 48 minutes.

That's the difference between these "it's only January" games compared to previous years. The West is tough this year and a few losses puts you out of the playoffs. Not that I don't think the Spurs make the playoffs but the room for error is a lot tighter than before.

We just got outplayed by the Hornets.

It's the first game, where the Spurs couldn't rely on the other team playing horribly whenever we went through our typical 8 minutes of offensive droughts.
They're in for a rude awakening against the top-tier teams who are at full strength, if they don't get their offensive act together soon.

Sorry for my sloppy remarks too, but it's just so frustrating to see them lost like that without much efforts. I think pop need to reevaluate his strategy or better yet hire a psychologist why his kids are acting that way recently. Look when his attention focused on Jack, Tony seems out of the way he used to play, he lacks the MVP caliber that once he possessed. We are all aware how we oftentimes judge the relationship of Manu to Tony or Tony to Manu, and now more pressure I guess with the entry of Ime and Jack to the scene. Just a thought!!!

We spanked the Hornets by 30 points when we last played them. The key is to make Chris Paul the scorer, go under the screens and force him to hit his jumpshots. You can let him go off for 20-30 points so long as nobody else gets involved.
You hit the nail on the head, dazed. We did exactly the opposite and Paul did get others involved leading to a blowout in the 2nd half.

Put it this way, the Spurs could NOT throw it in the ocean from behind the arc. It was embarrassing for them.....player after player after player..parker,finley,bowen,horry,richardson, and boner...missing from 3 land. (except udoka/manu made 1 each) a disgusting 2 for 20...10% from 3 land. In contrast, the Hornies were hitting EVERYTHING from everywhere......lights out from 3...especially Peja with 67%from 3 land. West(32pts) was a man-child abusing on the low block and scoring.......paul was spectacular when he wasn't throwing elbows in bowen's face then looking around with this "what did I do", stupid ass look on his face. Horry showing some hops still left in his legs with a nice put back dunk :clap . Spurs not only had no offense tonight, their defense was horrible in the 4 Q. Paul and Chandler were alley ooping all over the motherfucking place and even Ryan-the Dirkanator-Bowen was scoring on a layup :clap . I think Sean Elliot said in the 3Q, and just like that, look whose on top, when the Spurs took a midget-lead on the hornies......but that was the kiss of death.......could Brent Barry mean that much to the spurs......they sure needed his heart and 3 ball skills tonight.......rant over.
