Despite the refs the Spurs have had their chances and they've been blowing it for the mostpart with dumb turnovers and missing wide open shots. Can't blame it all on the refs.

Really? How about that Big baby pick on Bowen where he totally grabbed him? Or no the no call on the DUncan take? Or the hakcing they're doing on Duncan? Or the arm bar Pierce hit duncan with to cause the turnover?

Did I say there have been "no" bad calls? Of course not. Every game has bad calls.

There have been bad calls both ways this game, just like most games. The difference is that when it's a bad call in favor of the Spurs, it tends to be viewed as "great defense by the 4 time champs" or a "scrappy play by the cagey veteran Bowen/Manu/whoever".

It hasn't been that bad today at all. You all are uptight because it's a close game that you really want to win (which, of course, isn't some phenomenon specific to Spurs fans).

No Mavs fan is unbiased when it comes to anything Spurs. Vice versa for Spurs fans.

Maybe in a game where the Spurs are playing the Knicks, but I honestly don't care who wins this game. I don't dislike the Spurs any more than I dislike the (overrated) Celtics. Really.

The last thing I want is another NBA team gaining the confidence they need to help thlem win a title. The Mavs have enough to compete with as is.

but, but, but the game was called consistently! What a load of BS!

The Spurs were taken out of their game because they didn't know how to adjust their defense - no matter what they did, the refs called it against them. While they let the Celtics get away with just about everything but the EXTREMELY obvious fouls. When Tim Duncan has that few FTA - you know something's wrong!

Just like how we got swept by the Cavs in regular season

A loss is a loss, no matter how you see it. They (Spurs) blew a descent lead with POOR POOR POOR 3pt shooting once again. Lay off the 3's and you just might give your team a chance to win.

The score of this game was identical to the Mavs @ Celtics game last week until the C's made those last 2 free throws. Odd.

Free throws for this game: 34-13 in favor of the Celtics.

Free throws for your pathetic little squad: Mavs 28 C's 29.

But good luck with the game comparisons. Too bad you won't even make the conference finals this year. Pray you don't play the Lakers in the 2nd round.

I don't know why there was no Bruce on the last few minutes. Or why Pop insisted on small ball. Good game entertainment wise, but sucked in terms of officiating. You just can't have Duncan taking only 2 FTs when he spends so much time on that lane.

I still love the way the Spurs competed. They were gassed in the end, but they put up a good fight and stuck with it even with the bad calls.

Now I gotta get back to sleep.

That Finley 3 Attempt at the end was a poor decision (by the team's MO not Fin's fault)..It was risky. It would have been sweet if it went in, but we just were down 3 with a minute left. That's when we were supposed to start attacking the basket.

Then they got the rebound and made it a two possession game and then they tried to start chucking even more. :bang

the celtics wanted it more. the only one with passion out there was manu. the spurs were beaten to spots and outjumped for rebounds, couldn't handle passes (especially oberto), missed open looks, and were forced into taking bad shots. i hope they turn it around. if we cant score, we should at least play good defense. we haven't shown we can do either consistently. injuries are a factor, but even since tim has been back, our defense hasn't been great.

The Spurs lost this game at the end of the first half, when they went 0 for 8 on their last 8 possessions. They had a lead and a chance to put the Celtics away right there, but let it slip away. Not to take anything away from the Celtics, though...right now, they have the BEST team of pure shooters in the NBA...they are fucking GOOD...if you think otherwise, you're fooling yourself.

I'm actually surprised the score was as close as it was...with a few exceptions, the Spurs shooting and decision making was horrible today.

If the Spurs have TP back for the game on St. Patrick's day, the outcome will be much different...with a healthy Parker, the Spurs win today by 8-10 points easily.

That aggressive Celtic defense? BS. A fat ass rookie is allowed to bump and grind in the block on Duncan all afternoon? Davis is allowed to set screens for Allen by grabbing JV's arm?

Boston played a lot of defense with their hands and were not whistled for it. Six or eight free throws between Duncan and Ginobili is a joke.

BTW, Lousiana fat ass was not fouled by Ginobili with 1:20 in the 4th. Yet, this guy is treated like a ten year vet.

Our guys played with some guts and almost overcame the obstacles put in front of them.

Stoudamire will help this team as he gets accustomed to the other guys. With a hopefully healthy Parker after the ASB, SA should be able to get rolling.

If Pop would just play two bigs...I don't know why the fuck he seems to think small ball works for this team when every fucking time he goes small for extended minutes WE LOSE! We actually might have won this game had we gotten rebounds late in the game-but no, Pop goes small. Damon is nothing better than a backup so don't expect much more from him.

Not worried about the loss. This was the championship for the Celtics. In June we'll beat them 4-1.

They did not. There were too many wild perimeter shots.

Bruce Bowen say hello.

I hear everyone saying it's only the regular season and the usual spin, just curious if missing the playoffs has crept into SpursFan's head yet. Yay? Nay?

You've got to realize AHF is just pre-empting any criticism for Manu and his six turnovers.

actually Tim was rather pretty calm today by all the no calls. Are you kidding me if Kobe was getting hammered like that he would have been yelling at the refs the entire game. And you act like Duncan didn't get back on defense and stopped playing. He might have said a word to a ref but he ran back on defense. He didn't stand there and cry!

I am sorry, but Duncan turned to Crawford multiple times in the second half to bitch.

I don't give a fuck about Kobe, this is a Spurs board I think (at least that's what it says at the top). Fuck Kobe. He can whine all he wants, the point is whenever Duncan whines the refs have a tendency to put their whistles in their pockets, and they did so today.

And yeah, Duncan didn't always get back on D because of the bitching, in fact four of the points Davis scored (which when you look at the final score is a pretty damn big four points) were because he was out running the break while Tim was carping on Crawford.

LMAO at people saying Tony Parker is as valuable to the Spurs as Garnett is to the Celtics!

LMAO at a Blazers fan commenting on the Spurs. How many Spurs games do you watch Tlong?

Parker is the starting PG for the Spurs and has the ball in his hands oh about 60% of the time. Of course he's as valuable to what the Spurs do as Garnett is. Parker would have not only taken the burden off Ginobili to run the offense, he would have actually forced Rondo to burn some energy on defense. Not having Parker affects the Spurs offensive game as much as not having Garnett affects the Celts.

Actually, Udoka, Oberto, Bowen, and Damon all sucked or were pretty much ineffective in today's game and still the Spurs were right there at the end. Finley's 3 pointer to tie went in and out. So you can't really be too upset with this loss. Especially since Parker and Barry are still out. If those two had played, and the Celts were still without Garnett and the SPurs lost, I'd be more upset.

Yea, Finley's really been playing well last couple games. He seems to be the only player not hesitating on offense.

To say that the Spurs are a playoff lock in an extremely competitive WC when they've been in a funk for more than a quarter of the season is, well, just retarded.

It's definitely a possibility.

I can just predict this board up until May.

It's only February. It's only March. It's only April. It's only May. Shit we're out of the playoffs.

At some point you gotta stop leaning on the excuse that your team doesn't try until after the All-Star break. Without Parker your offense is not good enough to consistently beat quality teams. If he doesn't come back 100% the chances of a repeat are slim.

So now the Spurs fans are complaining about the refs? You guys sound like PHX fans now.

That's a low blow. ESAD (if you don't know what that means, don't ask me).

Just wondering, who have the lakers lost to in the 1st round of the playoffs (Including blowing a 3-1 lead I think) the last two years? Who have the Spurs defeated in the playoffs three out of four times since Duncan arrived (with Duncan not being available the other playoff series they lost). The Suns.

Spurs fans in no way shape or form sound like Suns fans. We've been hearing crap from the Mavie fans and Suns Fans for five or six years on this board. Now the Laker people are crawling out from under the rocks again. It's always somebody.

Disabled and Constipated, your team is going to have to work its way up the food chain in the Western Conference. It will not be easy. I'd laugh if your boy Kobe, after throwing away the last three years of Laker team success due to his ego, hit the wall and his body gave out on him after all of the minutes he's logged in his very long 12 year career. Trust me, Kobe would have very few people shedding tears for him (especially other NBA players) if he got hurt (only ESPN and ABC would be sad to see their ratings champion take a hit). Kobe will stab a teammate in the back at the first opportunity. He is a dirtbag.

I'm glad my NBA team has a bunch of guys who know how to conduct themselves (on and off the court) without having to worry what they are going to do if they go somewhere - let's say a trip to Colorado to have a knee examined.

The Celts were without Kevin Garnett and he's MUCH more valuable to their team than Tony is to us bar NONE.

We should have won this game with them at that much of a disadvantage. We didn't.

That said, it's February...there's no statement that can be made in February. Hell, there aren't even MORAL victories in February. The only way that would have been the case is if both teams were healthy.

Still...we lost and I'm very disappointed.
