ESPN is reporting the following trade.

Bulls recieve: Larry Hughes Drew Gooden and Cedric Simmons
Sonics recieve: Chris Duhon Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall
Cavs recieve: Ben Wallace, Wally Z, Joe Smith, Delonte West

The Cavs just got a whole lot stronger now, since they got the deadweight of Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden off that team.

Great move, Cavs. You put yourself in a position to compete with the Pistons.

Wow. Seattle got rid of Wally's contract and West's contract. That is about $15 million. The only player they are receiving with a contract after next season is Donyell Marshall at around $5 million.

I think the Bulls actually benefit a lot from this. Ben Wallace is total dead weight on a team like that. He'll do better in Cle.

New Details Of Cleveland Three-Way

February 21, 2008 - 3:54 pm
Philadelphia Inquirer -

According to David Aldridge, the Cavaliers, Bulls and Sonics have agreed to a three-way trade.

The Cavaliers receive Ben Wallace, Joe Smith, Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West.

The Bulls receive Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden.

The Sonics receive Ira Newblem, Donyell Marshal and Chicago's Adrian Griffin

Wow good for Cleveland. They take on two bad contracts, but they are clearing out two so that's kind of a wash, and what they get fills needs. And all they give up are guys who were never consistent enough to be difference makers, except may Marshall. Danny Ferry deserves some props.

Would you guys rather have Buford or Presti as our GM?

FromWayDowntown
02-21-2008, 04:02 PM
Just heard that Shannon Brown is in the deal, too.

Not surprisingly, everything going to Seattle is expiring, so the roster spot issue might not be particularly relevant -- instead, the Sonics now have a bunch of choices for buyouts and are going to have to keep some of these bodies around to comply with rules that they meet minimum roster requirements.

Presti and Buford are trying to achieve different ends. If the Spurs were trying to clear out bad contracts and clear cap space, Buford would probably be a bit more willing to wheel-and-deal.

he was basically my favorite player because when I go to games I wear that jersey and people give me so much shot for paying 50 bucks to get a Newble jersey made. So basically I just stick up for Newble and act like I really think he is the best baller on the team and everyone else doesn't know a good basketball player when they see him. I basically just got heckled by the fans of the team I root for.....but he sucks, and now I can let my guard down and admit that

I love reading Bulls' fan's comments on their board about how dumb the Cavs are for this trade, and how big of a bust Ben Wallace was...but Ben is what he is. He doesn't score, he might airball free throws, but he plays great defense. I work with a guy that is an idiot (actually a few), and when he heard the trade he was trying to tell me how the Cavs are idiots because Wallace averages 3 points a game and Gooden averages 11. It's like people only look at points as what your value is.

Well for cleveland if they had waited they would of had cap space available to them in the next couple of years, to sign something. But to be honest Lebron wanted help, and he was begining to vocalize it. I think they did it more so to help Lebron. I think for the short term its good for them. I dont think its a bad trade for them at all, but they could of quite possibly been able to do better down the line.

They weren't gonna make the eastern finals with that team.

Now IMO, they can beat the Pistons and the Celtics with this lineup.

Cavs still have over 20mil in expirings next year with Snow, Szczerbiak, and Damon Jones. Never would have had significant cap space even if they didn't trade.

right because the Cavs didn't beat the Pistons last year with basically 2 guys. I love how people just forget that the Cavs actually won the Eastern Conference last year. THEY DID BEAT THE PISTONS. They didn't lose anyone that helped them do that. This isn't a Suns thing where they have never beaten anyone of significance in the playoffs, the Cavs can beat the Pistons because it has already happened.
