The losses that are hardest for me are the ones like this.
Where they don't give it their all and leave it all on the court.
Even with the refs being ridiculous, if they play hard I deal with the loss much easier.

This sucked.
I hope it's the final kick they need to get in the right gear for the final push to the playoffs.

And the worst part is how out of fucking control the Suns trolls are going to be on the board.

td4mvp21

We're not winning shit in the playoffs. We can't put together two good games in a row against playoff teams? Fuck that. The Spurs have a lot of work to do, I almost wish they would have kept losing so they would have realized that. Tim Duncan had the greatest motherfucking choke job ever today. That's not the way to lead your team. He just started throwing up wild shots even though he knew the fucking dumbass biased refs wouldnt' call it. Man up and lead us to victory, Tim. This is almost as important playoff game. You just gave the Suns confidence-they beat us and now they will go on a big streak, you just fucking watch. Kudos to Parker and Ginobili for being the only Spurs that showed up today. Unfortunately it takes an entire fucking team to win games and that's why we can't consistently beat the good teams this season. How pathetic is it that we can't put together two wins against two playoff teams? That's what matters! An 11 game winstreak means nothing if we are just beating the shit teams. Absolutely nothing. I'm expecting the only win over the next 5 games to be against the fucking 76ers, even then we'll be lucky because I bet we will come out and play the shittiest basketball against the shittiest Eastern conference team.

When given the ball 4 times against 2 different players w/ 5 fouls each

Scared layup that he missed against Shaq
Tough layup against Shaw after holdin the ball 4 ever and passin up a wide open shot

What's more alarming than this loss, is just how reliant the Spurs have become recently on offense to the Big 3. Finley, Horry, Stoudamire/Vaughn, Oberto, and Udoka all have brought no offense to this team for 2 straight games.

E20
03-09-2008, 05:16 PM
The Spurs shot 35% from the field, The only players that were decent were the big three, everybody else pretty much was stagnant on offense, Shaq should have fouled out when he was in the the circle and fouled Ginobili, everything was rattling out and they were still right in it. This is more of a Spurs loss/choke then a Phoneix win.

calm the fuck down people..they win 11 in a row and they are the greatest team ever and they lose 2 in a row now they suck? Fuck relax damn it! So we won't have the best record in the west who cares? This team is good enough to win it all! We also need a healthy Barry back because sorry Finley is absolutely horrible!

We were playing decent, but we still have a lot to work to do and the last two games make it painfully obvious. How can you sit here and say that when we have a sub .500 record against good teams and have failed to put up two good performances in a row against two playoff teams in our own conference? That isn't a good sign at all. We can beat the good teams if they are inbetween 5 games of shitty Eastern conference teams. Too bad that's not how it works in the playoffs. I thought Pop was stupid for saying we aren't as good as last year, but he's right. We aren't right now.

The flipside is that the Suns were about 3-13 from 3-pt range, something that doesnt happen all that often either.

So I'm not sure I see your point.

The Suns did a better job of making adjustments in the fourth quarter, especially putting Grant Hill on Parker and varying their offensive plays.

Duncan and Manu were shit.

The only ones that showed up were Thomas, Parker, and Udoka.
KT played well timley jumpers, same with Udoka. Manu showed up played well in teh 1st half and his three point shooting helped us (4-6), Duncan played pretty shitty/soft but still gave 17 points/10 Rebounds. Other than if you look at the box score even though the scoring was distrubted among the big three 8 points from Udoka and 9 from KT isn't gonna cut, this game was obviously a misnomer, HTF does Finley score 1 point. Bowen scored 3 and Oberto scored 4, the rest scored 0. This is a poor team outing. Can't fault the Big three, because outside of Ime/KT every played like shit.

I pray the Spurs don't take your attitude toward this. It's that kind of punk-ass, cavalier-type attitude that will get you beat. Look here dude, this aint got shit to do with going for the best record. This is about playing your BEST BASKETBALL as you head into the playoffs. Playing with a sense of urgency and instilling doubt into the minds of opponents that you may face in the playoffs. The Spurs failed in all three areas today.

Besides all that, the margin of error between playoff seeds 1-6 is very slim. This is no time to start dropping games and free-falling out of a possible top-four playoff seed.

The Spurs sucked today. Phoenix just sucked less. Seriously, Phoenix just missed shots and that's why the game was even close.

Yup...the Suns went only 3 of 14 from beyond the arc...the Spurs are lucky they weren't utterly blown out today.

Something is seriously wrong with the Spurs...something that will have to be addressed before the playoffs, or it's going to be an early exit for Pop and company...that is, if they even make the playoffs.

Also, let me reiterate what I said already...this was the second loss in a 5 or 6 game losing streak for the Spurs...they are going to lose to the Nuggets tomorrow night, the Hornets on Wednesday, and the Pistons on Friday...and I'm not so sure they can beat the Sixers on Saturday...I hate to say this, but there is a very good chance the Spurs could MISS THE PLAYOFFS...yes, you heard me right...MISS THE PLAYOFFS...the 12-game win streak was a fluke...the Spurs should have lost several of those games, too.

I know you are all thinking I'm crazy...that I'm overreacting...but I see nothing from the Spurs recently that makes me believe they can repeat...I used to think that, but not any more...unless they get their shit together, or the other WC teams start losing games, the Spurs are not going to make the playoffs, or if they do, they will get bounced in the first round.

We have three really good, somewhat consistent players and the rest are mediocre at best. And I know pop is supposed to be a really good coach and all, but you have to wonder what the fuck is going on in his head. The season isn't over because of this choke job. The Spurs are not dead. What a crap loss. I thought the Spurs had it in the bag when they were up 5 with 5 minutes to go. But easy missed baskets by Duncan and Ginobli late in the game really hurt. They had good games early on and were a big reason we were in the game but they stumbled when we needed them the most.

Parker and Thomas were pretty solid. I liked Udoka in the 1st half but he wasn't a factor at all in the 2nd half.

Finley continues to struggle. He's not getting open looks like he was before. He's dribbling around and then taking a shot. We need guys like Parker or Ginobli driving and kicking out to him. And wtf was Pop thinking bringing him in with 18 seconds left when he was 0-5 and hadn't played for like 8 minutes?

Horry, Vaughn, Bowen (on offense), and Stoudamire didn't help one bit.

Shaq hurts the Suns against most teams but he's going to be a killer against the Spurs.

this shows everyone one thing:

Duncan is either our catalyst or the weight that can bring us down, depending on how well he plays.

All the talk about Ginobili or Tony being "the man" on our team just isn't true. We need Duncan to be playing at MVP level in order for us to win, bottom line. Duncan needs to play with some fucking balls. Right now they're tucked behind his legs.

And i haven't even talked about Finley and Udoka. No one gave Barry the credit he deserved. Udoka isn't an adequate back-up for Fin. He makes stupid plays on offense, and has a inconsistent shot. If your're a guard on the spurs you've got to be able to knock down the three with some consistency and stay in the flow of the offesne. Our offense is messy when he's on the court. And he isn't the defensive player that eveyine claimed he would be when we picked him up, so he is virtually useless out on the court. He's a player fo average-below average bball iq, and players like that don't last on our team (ie Elson). I expect him to be gone by he end of the season. Whoever said this guy would be apt to back-up Bowen when he retires was clueless, because right now he'd have trouble being the back-up towl boy

Actually, the Suns haven't really been that tough of a matchup for the Spurs in recent years. Suns fans might try to convince others that the Suns are a tough matchup, but the Spurs have consistently won games over the stretch from 2005 through to today and the difference is really quite significant.

With that said, the Spurs' offense right now is both way too predictable and far too passive in most instances. They play sometimes as if they're waiting to be bailed out by calls (particularly Timmy) instead of attacking without regard to the whistle. If the role players aren't making shots, this offense grinds to a halt and becomes stagnant other than the occasional attempt by Manu or Tony to penetrate, and those efforts are easily repulsed by a defense that's already sitting in the lap of Tim Duncan and daring the Spurs to win from behind the arc. Sometimes that's true even if the role players are making their shots. It's too easy for defenders to swipe down at the ball as Duncan holds it on the block and Duncan's seeming passivity on the catch and turn makes it less likely that he's going to get calls when he does get stripped.

Officiating didn't cost the Spurs this game; the Spurs cost themselves this game.

What sour grapes ? We played like shit and missed easy layups. To have our shooting % in the 30's against Phoenix is inexcusable. It had nothing to do with the refs and everything to do with us not closing out the game and playing smart.

Don't get me started on Snaq's fat ass diving for balls he knows he can't save. He's such a fraud. Uh, ok Shaq, we get it..you are actually trying to hustle. Why did the refs blow the whistle when we had numbers off that stupid ass play ? Snaq takes up room in the paint and grabs the boards that land in his hands. We'll show Kurt that you have to deny him the ball by fronting him. Next time we face him he'll be on the bench loaded with fouls.

I'm sure you feel good about your win and you should. You are still alive in the playoff chase. Kudos to you but if you think you are going to see the same effort from your team going forward you are kidding yourself.

Spurs need to employ something to get their offense going. I said it even before all these trades happened, this season more than any other, Spurs offense has been horrendous to look at. It's become so predictable, it's almost scary and I wonder how the Spurs coaching staff doesn't see it or isn't doing anything to address it. Take a deep breath. We will play better against the Nuggets. If we lose a few more games, we have no need to panic. I know its a tight race but we'll be ok. We have 1/4 of the season left to get back on track. Wins and losses are important but getting better is the most important thing.

Kurt Thomas will get better adjusted and Pop's rotation will come into form. After that, I suspect that our offense and defense will come together too.

Seriously, would you rather be the Spurs or the Suns ? They just gave 110 % effort, at home after being embarrassed by other teams and barely won. The Rockets are soft and don't have Yao.

See what I mean...

I'm not trying to rub it in or anything, you guys are suffering some tough losses with a horrendous schedule but I think the record is misleading.

Even though you are only 1 game behind last year, the big difference is last year closed with a much easier schedule. This year, the easy games are done and a rough road is still ahead. Unfortunately, with your 5 more back to backs (including tomorrow), I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Again, not trying to rub it in, just trying to express my point of view. And as a Duncan fan myself, I was dieing watching him out there on the court. That was painful.

Point taken. Very observant of a Fakers fan.

I love watching Duncan even when he's having a bad game.
But it was painful today.

The only good thing I can take from him today was the look on his face at the end of the game.
He was obviously pissed at himself.
And that should serve us well the rest of the way.
I expect him to be a monster tomorrow.

One thing I noticed is Oberto was WIDE OPEN under the basket or in the lane and they passed him over. I wonder if all those dropped mangled passes the past few games have had an affect on players confidence in him. I swear Parker was looking RIGHT AT HIM one play he was wide open and passed him over. Happened more than once but that was blatent. The Spurs shot selection these past few games has just blown balls in my opinion. And this constant stutter step before shooting appears to be a bad habit they've picked up from Stoudemire. Take the ball, shoot it and stop fucking around. It's like they're wide open and think, ' If I just dribble one time and move one step closer to the defender, that will somehow make it an easier shot'.
It won't. They've gotta break that habit NOW.

Shaq, Nash notch double-doubles as Suns cut Spurs, end home skid

PHOENIX (AP) -- The Phoenix Suns picked a nice afternoon and the perfect opponent to show why they felt they needed Shaquille O'Neal.

Three days past his 36th birthday, in his 10th game with Phoenix, O'Neal scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help the Suns beat their nemesis, the San Antonio Spurs, 94-87 on Sunday.

The ever-hustling, 7-foot-1, 325-pound center provided the toughness, not to mention girth, the Suns felt they needed inside to finally get past the Spurs in the West. He even dived into the third row of seats for a loose ball, catching an unfortunate fan with an elbow to the lip.

"I think I hit one guy," he said. "I tried to miss the kids."

Grant Hill scored 18, including a crucial baseline 20-footer with 1:15 to go, as the Suns showed why they thought they needed O'Neal to compete with the rugged Spurs and the other big teams in the West.

"There's a lot of teams with size in the West," Steve Nash said. "We added size, let alone a guy with championship experience. One win isn't going to say we're a finished product, but we're on our way, I think, to improving and getting to a place where we're going to feel confident once the playoffs come around."

Phoenix outscored the Spurs 14-2 in the final 3:40 to improve to 4-6 since O'Neal joined the team.

"It was definitely a playoff atmosphere," said Suns coach Mike D'Antoni, whose team lost a bitter series to the Spurs a year ago. "It's a big game just because of the standings and everything, but we do know we still need some work, and we know it's not going to be easy."

Manu Ginobili scored 22 but missed several down the stretch for the Spurs, who lost their second in a row after an 11-game winning streak. Tony Parker added 21 points. Tim Duncan had 17 points and 10 rebounds but was just 6-of-19 shooting.

"I had two turnovers and two missed layups down the stretch," Duncan said. "We're up five with three-something left -- a situation where we usually play a lot better than that."

Amare Stoudemire scored five of his 16 points in the last three minutes for Phoenix, which had lost its previous three in a row at home. Stoudemire played the final 6:51 and O'Neal the last 5:55 with five fouls.

"I should have only had three [fouls] but when you're playing against Tim, you have to be aggressive," O'Neal said. "If anybody knows what he's going to do with the ball, I think it's me. We've had our battles."

O'Neal's two blocked shots made him the third player in NBA history to have 26,000 points, 11,500 rebounds and 2,500 blocks. The others are Kareem-Abdul Jabaar and Hakeem Olajuwon.

The intense victory stemmed Phoenix's slide in the standings, pulling them a game ahead of Dallas for the No. 6 spot in the West.

"O'Neal does change things greatly for the opposition," Ginobili said. "It's a big body to bother us every time we penetrate."

Former Sun Kurt Thomas made an 18-footer to put the Spurs ahead 85-80 with 5:12 to play. A frustrated Suns coach Mike D'Antoni drew a technical moments later, but Ginobili missed the free throw in a sign of things to come.

Nash's 3-pointer cut it to 85-83 with 3:40 to play. A 24-second clock violation by San Antonio led to Stoudemire's driving shot over Duncan that tied it at 85 with 2:58 left. Stoudemire made one of two free throws with 1:57 to go to put Phoenix ahead for good, then added two more to give San Antonio an 88-85 lead.

Ginobili's 8-foot floater over both Phoenix big men cut it to 88-87. That set up Hill's shot from the corner that boosted the lead to 90-87. Ginobili missed three in a row, then Raja Bell and Nash put the game away with free throws.

"We had our chances," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "Steve Nash and Grant Hill hit some big shots going down the stretch. We missed some big shots. It was a great game both ways."

Neither team led by more than six points in the first half or eight in the second. The Spurs shot just 38 percent.

Game notes
Muhammad Ali, who lives in nearby Paradise Valley, watched the game from courtside. He got a standing ovation when introduced to the crowd. ... Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his wife Cindy also were in the crowd. ... Phoenix was 3-for-14 from 3-point range, San Antonio 7-for-16. ... Phoenix had a 23-5 advantage in fastbreak points. ... Ten Spurs or Suns players have come or gone on the teams' rosters since their last meeting on Jan. 31. ... Phoenix is 2-1 against San Antonio this season with one to play. ... The Suns are 21-2 when holding an opponent under 100 points.

Yeah, I thought we only played 3 times.

That's cool there's another. I think there's one more Rockets-Suns game to played in Houston, so I'm gonna try to go to it.

Yea it looks like April 9.

I thought teams played only teams within their division 4 times, within their conference 3 times, and within the East 2 times....

That's what I thought too. I wonder how they've been able to sneak in 2 extra games with the Rockets and Spurs this year.

I wonder if the Suns also play the Mavs 4 times because they have the past few years.

I guess with 4 per division and 2 per East games being the "locks", there are a few flex games in there for other conference opponents... probably games that ESPN/ABC/TNT have options to pick up. If that's the case, then no wonder that they have an extra Suns-Spurs game in there this year.

If the Spurs had won on Friday night, I wouldn't be so pissed right now...but, LIKE I SAID ON FRIDAY NIGHT, the Spurs are on a 4 to 5 game losing streak now...trust me...

What are you doing here? If you want to give up LEAVE. Don't come back when the Spurs win.

Shaq not taking Duncan's hand to help him up sums up my opinion of Shaq.
He's an asshole. A bully.
He's got no class. No sportsmanship.
Had it been Duncan down he would have taken Shaq's offer of help up.

The better man, the classier man. The epitome of sportsmanship.
Duncan.

I'm glad ABC re-ran the clip so many times. Show the nation who Shaq is.

Tim needs to stop doing that shit and start stomping on people . NO FREAKING KILLER instinct at all from Tim lately. None at all.

Nah Pop won't ever start Udoka. it's for the good of the team but he has feelings for Michael ;).

Killer instinct during the game has nothing to do with offering a hand to help someone up when it's a dead ball.

He needs to forget about helping other people up from the other team. Help your team mates leave the opposition on the ground.

How many times did Jordan help someone up from the other team?

Anyway i don't like the way Tim is playing lately. When is the last time Tim dominated Shaq? i can't really recall and dominant performances against O'neal since 2003. Tim for some reason plays scared and timid aganst O'neal. He's gotta DOMINATE Shaq and attack him. Looking at that post game recap it seems like Shaq thinks he owns Duncan.

And you guys think Kurt Thomas will be able to stop Bynum.......LMAO. He's good, but he can't deal with the bigger Cs of the league.

Can you stop going on and on about Bynum please? When Bynum comes back and if he dominates then you can talk all the shit you want. Until then STFU.

Finley needs to be benched.

He very well may be but then who's going to step up and score besides the big 3? Especially before Barry comes back and before he's back in game shape? You know Ginobli, Bowen, and Udoka will not play all the swing minutes.

What I mean by benched is put him on the bench and let him play 10-15 minutes a game max. If he's not hitting shots or playing defense leave him there the rest of the night.

START UDOKA! I've wanted to see how this would go since January and It's one of the only things Pop hasn't tried rotation wise. lol Pop must be doing it to get to me. "Screw that Ice009 guy, I'll do any starting line-up change and substitution pattern, but I won't start Udoka" ;)

For the most part i think our defense was there but our offense sucks right now. The ball is not moving, when we move the ball well we will always fucking score! I promise. lol. But when it sticks or Tim holds it in the post forever or when Tony dribbles the damn clock out we end up with a crappy shot, when Barry gets back this should help out also. But damn move the ball around the horn.

Excellent point...crisp, well-timed ball movement has been a hallmark of the Spurs for over a decade, and it has helped them make the playoffs every year and win 4 NBA titles...they seem to be straying away from that philosophy now, and that is probably why they are struggling.
