As you can probably tell, we're on new servers and have upgraded the forum software. While things will get back to normal in the long run, it's still a work in progress. You may notice bugs and other small errors throughout the forum. We are working to re-customize everything, as we basically had to start from a clean slate once again. Add-ons such as vBookie will be re-instituted in the next couple days.
If you notice any bugs, broken images, broken links or anything else like that, please hold still for the time being. We are aware of all the issues. Please be patient while we work to restore everything.
Thanks.
P.S.
Once everything is in working order, we'll be able to begin adding on new and exciting features.

I am all kinds of clear today.
I meant that if someone is annoyed by the sigs in every post, they could turn off sigs entirely - that that functionality is working. I tried to clarify something that was probably clear when I first posted.

Are you referring to the drop-down that allows us to change forums easily?
I'm talking about the drop-down forum jump, as well as the top navigation that says, "Spurs" "Politics" "Club" etc that is normally located on the top right (above where it says, "Welcome, User Name" LJ will put it all back later today.
What's wrong with the pooch, Kori? :(
He has heartworm and we had been waiting to get his platelets back in the normal range (they were dangerously low) before we could get him shots and treatment. They were below 50K (they are supposed to be 200K). But as of yesterday, they were back up to 220K, so he spent the night at the vet and had his first round of treatment today.

The quoted text is defined sufficiently with the background.
The italics for the quoted text adds nothing, hurts legibility.

Go ahead!
It won't influence the working of the forum.
The problem is that we jumped from a very old version of the forum software to the newest one, so many of the old stuff didn't translate well into the new version (style sheets being the most obvious). We will fix those things one by one, but we will need a little more time.

The Troll Forum isn't loading completely. On the front page I get the thread title and the name of the last poster and everything else is red x's. It seems okay in the threads.

I get hung up every so often...but I suspect that's an issue of communicating through a firewall. Pushing whatever button/link I originally pushed again usually fixes that.
Haven't had a problem with the log-offs...but another board I check out also is a vBulletin board, and I always have to check the "Remember Me" box with them. So I'm in the habit of checking it anyway.

Random Thing:
Is it just me or do all of the topics look a little cluttered? It is hard for me to read the titles sometimes just because it looks like there is so much going on. Anyone else feel the same way? Is it because the OP name is right below it?

Kori and/or Timvp,
In the NBA forum (Pacers/O'Neal/Tinsley thread), I had a page that loaded incorrectly.
The info under the avatars ran into the next person's post...quite jumbled.
I got out and then got back in, and it worked fine.
I haven't noticed this in any other thread, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else had the same problem.

Running perfectly for zip 78218.
Fast again. We'll see how it is during/after Game1 Saturday.
Excellent work. And many, many thanks.
Only complaint is that it clicking on the poster's name in the left column still doesn't have on the pull-down "Add <name> to you Ignore List". I told Slomo where that add-in is. Would be very useful in the playoffs as the trolls and shitheads pour in.
Is there an explanation of the hardware changes for speed up?

The front page isn't loading right for me, it's a jumble of red x's, just the thread title shows.

I will look into that add-on (pull-down). There's a lot of stuff we will look at soon.
I don't know exactly what you are asking about hardware changes, but what we did was we moved from a one server to a two server system. We bought two brand new servers (both better than the previous one). One of them holds the servers database and the other one has everything else.
Because it's spread over two servers, it should be able to handle the peak traffic a lot better. Obviously we are still tweaking all the customizations, but in the long run things will be a lot better.

Is there an explanation of the hardware changes for speed up?
As Kori and LJ said before it's now a two server setup. Both are DELL Poweredge servers. The bigger one is a 2950 with a quad core 3GHz CPU and very fast disks on a hardware RAID. It's running on FreeBSD because it's currently the fastest OS for running MySQL on (that's the database that VBulletin uses - unfortunately). That server is not connected to the internet but only to the front end HTML server via a Gb ethernet.
The front end is also a quad core server but slightly slower CPUs and disks (it's not the one doing the heavy lifting). That one runs OpenBSD because of its security features and both the html server and php are heavily optimized for VBulletin.
Muki did all the hard work on the setup and built into it all that we have learned about VBulletin in the past two years (and believe me its a lot - VBulletin is nice, but not written very nicely, although this new version is a lot better).
It's a very nice and quite expensive setup, despite our best effort to keep the cost down to a minimum.
timvp is currently configuring VBulletin back to it's former ST.com glory, and I'm working on fixing the graphic and some other minor stuff on the forum.
My first priority will be the Trolls and I'll start working on them after the game tomorrow (I just drove into SA 30 minutes ago).
Now I'm off to bed :)

The square-box quoting style is better.
The quoted text is defined sufficiently with the background.
The italics for the quoted text adds nothing, hurts legibility.

Thank you, Kori!
I mentioned this before, but I'm using Firefox.
It is very strange that this keeps happening to you specially in Firefox, since it has usually less weird cache problems than IE.
I know you tried this before, but I'm going to ask you to do it again just to be sure it's still an issue now that a few things have changed.
1.- Are you running the latest FF version (Help->Check for updates...)
1b.- Do you have a 3rd party firewall installed? If so please PM me which one and we'll try a couple of things but outside the public eye :)
2.- Clear your cache and cookies (Tools->Options...->Privacy and put a check mark next to "Ask me before clearing private data"->OK then go to Tools->Clear Private data and check that "cache" and "cookies" are selected and press "Clear Private Data now")
3.- log into the forum and make sure there's a check mark in the little box next to "remember me?" before clicking on the "log in" button.
4.- Go to a thread and then reload the page using Ctrl+F5 (it forces a full reload bypassing the cache) and you should still be logged in
If you are pay attention to what you were doing when/if it kicks you out again and PM me as much info as possible. Please try a few more times to log in and browse the forum so that we can maybe figure out a pattern (don't hesitate PMing me with as much info as you can remember or even with just a question).
Unfortunately I'm unable to replicate your problem on my computer so I need as much info as possible from you.
Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I just reported that in the Technical Issues thread. It appears to create the new page button when the current page fills up, instead of waiting for an actual post to start the new page. Seen it in a few other threads, too.

You will see the same forum either way, but your login is only valid for one of the two addresses at a time (for technical reasons I won't bother you with).
Also, if you get suddenly logged out can you check if your last action took you to the other version of the address?

How do you use the vbookie option?
Statman, there has to be a vBookie actually in play before you can use your cash. You'll see a thread on it...the title always starts with "vbookie."
You open the thread, and at the top, it will tell you how much you have to spend. You can use as little or as much as you'd like...you then place that amount on the line with the option you've chosen, then click "submit," I believe.
Once you bet, you can't bet again, of course.
You can always find one of the old vbookie threads to get an idea of what one looks like.

I don't know if it helps but I had the "logout problem" as well. Since this morning everything works out well for me. I did not have to log in again. I use IE (not sure which version)

How often do these threads appear?
Every game or so...and they're not exclusive to the Spurs forum. You'll find them in the others as well.
I spend my time on this site between the Spurs, BBall, and NFL forums, and I've seen the vbookies on all of them.

In addition to the page counting problem, I also have been logged out 3 or 4 times, vs never being logged out previously. Staying logged in is a cookie thing, right?
No big deal
Keep up the good work, and thanks, thanks, thanks!

While reading this very thread to see about chat - I had the same issue with the page number. It says there is a page 9, but no way to go to it (and alamo50 is the last post regardless).
ETA - Well, now there is a page 9, but there wasn't when I posted.

I don't think that one is such a big deal. It's down there somewhere with that momentary hesitation when you think you're losing it ... when you encounter a thread where the last person to post in the thread is on all-ignore.
You just move on. :lol

All the quoted text in the Club have a white rectangle over the letters. I'm assuming it has to do with the color of the background.
Or else I need new contacts.

Yes the Club's quote were kicking my butt for a while. They tested OK, but somehow there was a white background setting somewhere. I was going crazy while looking for it.
I'll make the blue line a little thinner tomorrow, I think it'll look better that way.

I didn't want to start a new thread on this, but I'm curious...
Under "Chat", there's a choice called "enter chat" and another one titled "Enter Chat (floating)."
What's the difference?

Ditto. It actually froze and I had to restart my computer, then it worked fine. I think that was a laptop issue rather than a website issue.

I'm trying to load Java on this work computer. The chat has always worked on here, so I don't know what would've changed...but I guess it can't hurt to do it again.

I'm presuming you already know this, but just for completeness, there's a pulldown on the chat tab that supposed to tell you how many people are in chat, and who's in chat. Neither one is working as of yet.

If Raja Bell was Robert Horry and Manu Ginobli was Steve Nash and Spurs fans were Suns fans....Manu would be crying now and our fans would whine for a year. Fortunately, none of those things are the case.

martini was having trouble, so i tried the avatars cause martini acted like he/she has never put an avatar in, so i checked it out. And everything shows, the gallery and the custom photo. When i try to put a customized photo in, it just goes to a Connection Reset Page(I Use Firefox).
