Duncan playing brilliantly. I will never give up on a Spurs team that has a healthy Tim Duncan on it.

and you shouldn't. i don't. and definitely not in the first half of the first game of a series.

Duncan Is The Fucking Best.

That"s A Bullshit Foul. Fuck That Shit.

Bullshit foul and kills a little momentum for the Spurs

1Parker1
04-19-2008, 03:09 PM
Duncan is 7--9, rest of the team is 4-22 :wow :wow

Parker is playing very, very tentative and out of sync. He's not aggressive at all and he' not running the Spurs offense very well right now. If Parker isn't aggressive, Spurs don't have a chance.

Ginobili is looking like he missed 3 of the last 4 games of the season and is a little out of sync. Spurs desperately need someone outside the Big 3 to get going. Hopefully that's Brent Barry???

I think JVG said it best. Spurs biggest problem this season is that they don't have enough firepower behind their Big 3. And if 1 or 2 of them have a bad game, it's going to be very, very hard for them to put up points. And their defense goes the way of the offense lately it seems.

Diaw's playing too well, gotta take him out. Can't believe Spurs fans are complaining about these refs. You want ones that favor the Spurs 100% instead of 75%?

Don Quixote
04-19-2008, 03:12 PM
No need to blame the refs. The Silver & Black are doing a fine job losing this game on their own.

Does Timmy need to go Kobe on the FO to bring in some decent players? Outside of Finley (usually) and Manu, we don't have anyone who can create his own shot and make them off the dribble. Phoenix is loaded with those types. And now that they can play defense, this will be a short series.

But I've been predicting a Spurs 1st-round loss for about a month now.

Nash only has 3 points and 5 assists in this first half in which the Suns pretty much dominated. Shaq has barely played with 3 fouls in the first half. You'd think the Spurs would be dominiating the first half with all this.

Unfortunately, It's the rest of the team that they can't guard.

Yeah, but gritty play is only part of it. They need to start playing with better spacing on offense and start attacking the boards more. They do this and this will be a close game down the wire. Otherwise we're fucked. It's that simple.

Whisky Dog
04-19-2008, 03:24 PM
Good. Got it to 8.

This is the Spurs fault. Not the refs. The Suns haven't done anything different. Each man in white has to sit in that locker room and look inside and realize that he and his teammates are to blame for a horrible 1st half. Stop complaining and passing blame, nut up and play the game. Even a decent to good 1st half and the Spurs would be in control, but they failed to show up. Now's the time to nut up.

They got this if they go take it.

1Parker1
04-19-2008, 03:24 PM
The Spurs look like they have absolutely no game plan whatsoever

I don't know about that...Spurs have done a good job neutralizing Nash. He only has 3 points and about 5 assists. They got Shaq in foul trouble and rendered him useless in the first half. Their transition D has limited the Suns fast breaks.

Problems are the Suns bench; Diaw/Barbosa came in and gave them a lift. Meanwhile for the Spurs, Finley, Parker, and Ginobili are having bad games. Udoka isn't playing good defense. Bowen is taking bad shots (off the dribble). Spurs offense is once against stagnant.

If Brent Barry doesn't hold up for the Spurs, they're toast. That timely 3 pointer he gave them to start the 9-3 end makes you realize just how badly they miss him or any reliable 3 point shooter.

It's stunning to me that it is so clear what needs to be done, and yet, they still suck ass. All of that time without Shaq should have resulted in layup after layup. Poor shooting, bad turnovers . . . the Spurs should be up, and instead, they are down 8. It's not insurmountable - it's a couple of rebounds, and it's a couple of stops.

But the playing like ass - what is it that gets into them? They played beautifully in Utah when something was on the line? Why can they not replicate that? We know that they can do better - why do they seem dazed and inconfident?

NASHville
04-19-2008, 03:27 PM
Shaq should come out and look to score early in the 3rd and get in the game. Duncan may score 40 but that won't be enough for the Spurs. It is clear that the Suns are stronger than the Spurs this year.

Would've been sweet if Manu had taken an extra second to get planted...could be a 5-point game now. The Spurs better explode outta the gate in the second half, or this will be a loss.

Yeah he had more time to shoot. Looked like he thought he had less time than he did.

The Spurs climbed back because the Suns had to sit Amare, Diaw, AND Shaq. Kind of hard to score points when your entire frontline is out. The Spurs didn't do anything magical.

Shaq should come out and look to score early in the 3rd and get in the game. Duncan may score 40 but that won't be enough for the Spurs. It is clear that the Suns are stronger than the Spurs this year.

The real test is going to come in the second half. This has been the Spurs demise ALL SEASON LONG AGAINST GOOD TEAMS.

They usually lay an egg in the 3rd or 4th quarter where they go somtimes 5-8 minutes without scoring a field goal. They come out of halves flat and unaggressive on defense. Hopefully since they played that way in the first half, they'll reverse that trend this season.

BonnerDynasty

only reasons spurs are down is because the shots didn't fall. there were a lot of in and out shots that'll go down in the 2nd half.

He's 1-9 and has shot 30% against the Suns in the 4 games this regular season.

Nash had a chance to make a huge 3 at the end of the half and he was too unselfish. I look for him to take that shot more often than not in the 2nd half.

3 fouls on Barbosa, Diaw, and Shaq makes it kind of tough out there because Mike D needs to tell them to be smart. Even though Ginobili embellished that foul on Barbosa, LB just needs to lay off if he has 2 fouls.

I have 3 years of recent history to back up my argument. The Spurs have looked pretty bad offensively in a couple of regular season games against us, but even when the Suns play great... when Amare scores 40, when Nash dishes like crazy, the Spurs still allow themselves to stay in it until the end.

The Suns aren't a great defensive team, either, so they have trouble putting away good teams.

I think that problem becomes apparent if Shaq fouls out and the Suns have to double team Duncan in the 4th.

Because even if Bowen and Finley are 0-fer, they will hit big 3's in the 4th quarter guaranteed.

I'd like to see some moe Giracek out there to defend Ginobili and give Bell some rest for the 4th.
